dof already accepted modulated effects with the nobool functionality, so S17 only in the configtool is ON or OFF, S17 nobool receives any intensity value between 0 and 255.

djrobx updated dof to not have funny feedback behaviour because it's not on or off anymore when usevpmsolmod is activated in the script, that allows the modulated flashers

he also updated b2s.server that had limitations to pass solenoid or lamps under a certain value, plus other changes, all the non official, and soon to be integrated into official vpm, dof b2s.server can be found here

http://vpuniverse.co...-board-support/

Thank you.... I followed that thread for a bit...but was not up to date on the previous limitations of each program,etc....   Now it all makes sense.

Has the actual "use" of PWM flashers with VP been more of a recent event with the work you guys have done lately with PinMAME?

Yes.   It's a feature I added to VPinMame recently.   I had first created the technique for something unmentionable since I have an real machine to compare against (I could clearly see flashers were not doing what they do on my real machinine).  Then, I adapted the process for WPC.

It probably could also be adapted for Gottlieb or other types too pretty easily, but the degree of improvement gained really depends on the table.   The effects are very pronounced in Scared Stiff, for example.    The lights dim and ramp up/down a LOT on that table.   If the table is just flashing lights on periodically there's not as much benefit from switching.

In my own build the F keys work, so that must be a glitch..

Thanks for testing all the releases, will check the revisions after that..

One more hint maybe that you could give me: Whats the directly next revision you tested that shows the stutter?

In version VPX_2_beta_rev2820.zip the stuttering occurs bigtime(and all rev's after this rev). In VPX_2_beta_rev2806.zip it didn't/was still smooth.

I don't have the versions between those two.

I hope that this helps.. Thanks!

In that revision range, only the new maximum pre-rendered frames setting should've caused this.

So please try to add a registry key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Visual Pinball\VP10\Player  :

EnableLegacyMaximumPreRenderedFrames as a DWORD with value 1

Please let me know what happens when doing that..

Hi - I haven't played around with VP for a while and I was looking for a (git)repository to check an older version of VP 10.2 to give it a try and compare it with the last revision. I remember there was such a place but I couldn't find it...

rev2866 is up:

- fix F1-F10 key handling
- disable texture compression for small textures (<=256 on one axis)

Toxie,

Having strange problems with ver 2866

NO Sound

what looks like a volume bar at the bottom of the FS screen

Volume on table is set to full!

Will re-download and try again!

Go back to last version 2859 and everything is OK (except function keys)

Rich

Re-downloaded and same problem!

Thanks Toxie, but I was looking for previous compiled versions of VP. Any repo/site for that?

Another feature request.  Would it be possible to have customize-able labels for the layers instead of just numbers 1 through 8?  When building tables i generally use the same layers for the same things, but for things that aren't on all tables I don't always know where I've put them.  Yes, I know it's pretty easy to find what layer something is on, I just think this would be a nice feature to have, and something most other programs can do (photoshop etc).  I'd call layers things like GI, Targets, Lights, Plastics, Ramps, Posts, Toys etc.  You get the idea.  Maybe even make it possible to have more than 8 layers so builders can add as they need.  Instead of having the grid of boxes for the numbers 1 through 8, have them be bars/tabs so we can see the name easily (as long as the name is not too long).

Thanks for all you guys do, I really appreciate it.

Is VPX 10.2 getting close to being released?  I guess with the issues raised with 2886, maybe not......

+1 on the v2806 would be nice as I also experience some stutter lately.

glad to be amongst friends though, thought I was alone in this stutter issue.

Was late yesterday when I tried to fix the function keys issue. I'll check them today and upload a new version then.

Anybody else with stutter issues could please test this? Its the only thing IMHO that could've lead to this behavior in that revision range.

Hey toxie... what would cause a person's system to need the legacy pre-rendered frames... windows version, slow system, etc... or we are not sure yet?

For me it doesn't change anything Toxie, ball still stutters when falling down after hitting something on the playfield.

Would be nice to have somebody upload 2806 and 2820 here, so that we can really nail it down to that revision range.

THANKS!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this. So sorry in advance if it's not.

I update to the new 10.2 beta from 10.1 and I keep getting the error message.

Fatal error D3DERR_INVALIDCALL (0x8876086c: Invalid call) at RenderDevice,cpp:830

And it dose it on any table I play on.

So if any one could hep that would be great. Thanks

old thing, sorry, got lost.. :(

which value have you set for the maximum prerendered frames setting in the video preferences?
