Hey guys,

I've been following the 10.1 beta thread, but could not find an answer to this.

I would like to try the VPX 10.1 beta for some tables, but when I setup the 10.1 beta, my system went haywire and I no longer had 10.0 on my system. I also could not run VPX tables that I had previously been able to, now using the 10.1 beta.

Clearly, I did not install the 10.1 beta correctly on my system.

Could someone please point me to the steps to installing the VPX 10.1 beta and it's needed files, while not interrupting the 10.0 version I have installed?

Thanks in advance!

First I rename vPinballx.exe from the vp10 install to VPinballx-release.exe, so if i need to run the real vpx 10.0 I can.  I then download the latest vp 10.1 beta from the thread and unzip into the vp folder.  Everything should work fine that way.

Thanks Slydog.

Do I need to simply rename the vpinballx.exe from the 10.1 beta download and place that into my visual pinball folder?  Do I need to do anything with the other files inside the 10.1 beta download, such as bass.dll, SciLexerVP.dll, scripts, etc., or do I not install those files from the 10.1 beta and only install the 10.1 .exe?

Is there a way to do a completely separate install for 10.1 beta so nothing with my working 10.0 install becomes affected?

Thanks!

10.1 is an 10.0 improved.  Everything that worked in 10.0 works in 10.1 in theory.  I just rename so I can run a separate exe.  Do you want to double click on a vpx file and auto run a program?   That is what I thought you wanted.

Ultimately, I would like to double click a separate exe for VPX 10.1 to test out some tables with the beta.  More importantly, I would like to keep my working 10.0 exe and files in place so it continues to run as it has.

Do I need the associated files that come with the 10.1 download (.dll and others) and if so, is there a way to NOT override the existing files I have for 10.0?

Did you overwrite the existing files or did you get 10.1 beta to work seperately?

I renamed my VP 10.0.exe, then saved a copy of the existing dll files in a separate folder (just in case I managed to screw something up).  I also have a back up of my system, including the all important VP folder and PBX folder...again, if I screwed up my working system, I would not need to reconfigure everything again (in theory).

I then installed 10.1.exe in my VP folder and now both 10.0 and 10.1 seem to be working.

I have been testing VPX tables with the latest 10.1 beta and have had good results so far.

I started using 10.1 so I could play Dozer's CV table with the DMD on the playfield.  BorgDog's Double-Up and nFozzy's Congo WIP also require 10.1.  So, now I'm slowly going through other VPX tables on my system and seeing if they play just as smoothly on 10.1 as well.
