Only if you use the older version of FP, which expired at the end of 2010.

Hi, just rediscovered VP & FP after about 5 Years of noPinball.

First "Big thanks for the stunning new tables" to everyone
who spends sparetime to do such wonderfull things free for
a big community and everything is legal.

My problem is: I can't find the right installer to change the lightangle

Found only this in my backup and on web:

The 1.9.1. 20101231 does arcaderender all the other not.

So, there is one missing...

I own no cabinet but laying my monitor vertical on a table is awesome and my system plays most of the VP Tables very well
and FP Tables are fine too but the bright light on apron and lower playfield keeps me away from playing.

anybody any idea?

O.

Well I did some playing around and used Funhouse as it has a very prominent feature to use as reference.

Below you can see the images with the Z angle set 17a, 23a and stock 28a.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

The 17 image in my opinion looks great at the bottom flipper area but looks terrible near the top. Looking at all 3 stock 28 actually looks stretched which I think is why are balls at 28 don't quite look round. 23 looks good but not quite enough near the flippers as the drain channel is still out of view.

I had set some of my tables to 17 but when I got to Funhouse I reverted back to 28. In the near future I'm going to test out 23 again and see what happens. Lots of tables though to scale after change so I don't want to waste my time. Having a round ball though is kinda important.

Comparing the above to the actual playfield it's almost like we need a setting of 10a on the lower playfield and 30+ on the upper to get things perfect.

Hey guys...i managed to setup my playfield fine using the scroll lock...but now i understand that i need to use an earlier version of FP to access the lighting and ball egg change...Is that right?
What version do you suggest i find? im on Win 7 64 Cabinet build 3 monitor... If i happen to find an older version...will some of the newer FP not work on the Old exe?

Hi Guys,

There is a thread somewhere where Steve Paradis mentioned that he tried using an old FP exe in the same directory as the new FP install, and when launched once yo can apparantly tweak the registry as in the old versions.

I am not sure of the end result of that as i have been too busy of late to try myself, but if it does indeed work, I would like to try it myself. I have to use the newer FP because i cannot turn the clock back as i need for work, but regardless, i would love to get this issue with the blaring lighting on the apron fixed!!
Cheers,
Maceman

Thanx Jason. Okay i tried this today to no avail. What i did was installed the older fp, then overwrote the exe with the newer fp.... used steve's posted registry settings, then tried fp and i am still washed out in the lighting dept :)

If anyone gets this going, i will be thrilled to learn how!

EDIT: Guys I got this working!! This is awesome now!! What i had forgotten was to add the /arcaderender switch to the end of the FP shorcut target...I am using FP Physics 2.4 as well. No more lights on apron.

I have used Steve's settings, with one exception:
ArcadeLightY: 2500 instead of his 1000

Jason,
Would you be able to share a snapshot of your registry settings for comparison? I ask because i tried all 3 of the your settings above, but i never was able to get that much of the head showing, even at 28. I even jumped way higher but it was quite high before i saw that, so i am wondering what settings are different so i can try it out. I like the view you have going there!

Cheers,
Maceman

btw- i notice the loading screen for each game seems squished now, but the table loads fine. Is there a setting for the actual loading BG?

Sorry dude, I totally lost track of this thread. Here's a pic of my registry:

Posted Image

What does the ArcadeCameraY do as I noticed Steve's from the other thread is different? Also what do the ArcadeTarget's do? anything we can play with I wonder.

That's okay man! It was around the time when the new forum was released, so we all lost track of some threads :) I knew you'd come around eventually:)

I am not sure what the camera entries do either.... I need to do some further fiddlin'. I spend over 2 hours last week playing and i think i ended up with my original settings after all that :)

Your findings are great!

Only one thing: You photographed the playfield from the original machine from an about 45 degree angle. But the FS arcade mode is like you are looking straight from the top (90 degree). If you look at the head on the original machine from an 90 degree angle I think it should look similar to the settings in FP. So you can not compare this correctly. But a "layback" setting which is available in VP would be a very nice idea for FP to come to grips with this problem.

Edit: By the way - I'm at 200 (512 dec) at the moment. A good compromise I think.

Yes, that is the exact issue, I don't play my tables standing over top of the machine, I play them from a 45 degree angle and wish they looked that way, sadly they don't though.

You can sort of achieve this look (VP Layback) using F10 (or is it F11) manual camera. Rotate the view in options so its vertical and then manipulate the view using the mouse and WASD to get the proper angle. You can still have a backglass as well. I just wish you could save the view as a default (Steve worked on a script that would do the change for you on each table launch but I don't know how he fared).

Does this work in arcade render mode? Sounds interesting! Maybe you can post a screenshot?
