Would you mind making a table without MOD?

FH does not have a DMD. :)

lol  true... but any of your future tables that may

....or if anyone decides to adopt the 0 rotation method of display.

That setting is very easy to tweak in the script. Plus I could make a user friendly "switch" at the top of the script.

Me...do a DMD table! :)
Im obsessed with Alpha Numeric tables cant you tell. ;)

Yeah it's no biggee to just fix it in the script, but you just know that there will be an influx of "how do I rotate my DMD?" posts if everyone starts releasing zero rotation tables. ;)

For me 1.2d version has better physic (especially bottom flippers). I love Funhouse and I spent more time polishing this table (some physic for better ball catching, sounds) for myself than playing it ;) BTW that table is masterpiece!

I think there will be an influx of "what else do I have to change" questions whether there is a DMD or not. After I changed the table rotation to 270 and it looked way off. I used the FS settings from vers 1.2 which means I ended up changing 5 other Backdrop parameters. And maybe I'm still missing something but I have no idea.

If vers 1.2 wasn't available for a reference I'd be lost. Too many variables for a non-designer of tables like me to figure out to make things look correct.

Layback/Portrait mode XML files are always able to be included in a release, or shared by others after the table has been out a few days for people to have a play.

Having your cab run in portrait mode, and then just swapping the rotation via a keyboard shortcut to test tables isn't very difficult either as an option. Code/dev in portrait, keyboard shortcut  to flip to preview.

Here is backdrop settings for 270 rotated screen:

fh_bd71c7.jpg

wrd1972, with 1.2e upper flipper is better but bottom flippers are not - i can barely pass ball from left to right flipper when it's coming from the ramp, you can't catch ball you need to hit it.

Bottom flippers got better physics in 1.2d version for me.

One day i'll build Vitalik statue out of used AMD gpu's.

Everyone should be looking at the camera/light mode tool, regardless of the the orientation of the table.  There are so many factors as to what makes it look right on your individual cab (screen size, height from the floor, angle, recessed or not, your height, etc).   If you are just taking what the author sent out as being the perfect view for you, you are severely missing out.

Changing these settings is not a big deal.  Plus they (typically) only come out 1 at a time so you have plenty of time to take the 2 minutes to adjust to your tastes. Drybonz wrote some nice tutorials on vpinball that I started linking to in my table releases descriptions.  As Jodannar just point out, I have started including a landscape.xml that the user can just import and have settings for rotated working, (but again, they should still use the tool!).

Welcome to the club wrd1972.

-Mike

edit:  oh and just to point out that, there has already been close to 30 tables for VPX put out with 0 rotation... so this, shouldn't be that new to people.

I agree with slider. I always go into camera light mode and adjust so doesn't matter if table is released at 0 or 270. I think the author should release as they seem fit and we can adjust to our liking.

wrd1972, I want to thank you so much for the hard work you put into this table (and other tables)

Also, I want to thank all other authors (past and present) for providing us with these great pieces of art, as I call them.   Without you, this simply would not work.  I would also thank all contributing members of this community!

All others, please respect and appreciate what these people are providing to you.  You are not purchasing a product...you should not expect these to be to your liking all the time....spend some time and learn how to adjust and configure these tables to your liking.

I am not trying to preach here (ok..maybe a little), but we need to respect and treat these authors with appreciation for what they do so they continue to make great tables for all of us.  Don't complain about small things that you can figure out with very little time researching.

I will get off my soap box now, thanks for listening.

I'm trying the new version with the new settings and it is easy to make good catches with the flippers.

It feels more like the real table. I don't play the real one; only see him in the video at PAPA.

But it's funny, I don't have a score like in the older version. I have to learn again the reaction.

Joey2001, with older version i can't get GC score, with new 1.2e i got 16M after 2nd or 3rd game :D

Now i've set bottom flippers elasticity and friction somewhere between old and new release.

After a week with much Funhouse action we sure are used to the way it played. As you Joey, need to make adjustments, but, I'm happy to see that this table is so near what I believe it could be. For what I saw here yesterday, discussed between wrd1972 and nFozzy, we might start to see some big changes to flipper physics. I had a go at one of their "late night test tables" and it feels great.

I really do appreciate what all the table authors do. What they do is absolutely amazing & way beyond what I could ever do. This Funhouse table is one of my favorites.

I play mostly DT but sometimes connect a 2nd monitor in order to play FS with a backglsss. So far what the authors have sent out look great to me. Guess I just haven't tried any tables in the FS mode that use a 0 rotation.

I know I can change the camera angle, etc and have played around with the settings but find it helpful to have a good starting point. I end up stretching things & making objects too tall or too short and have no idea what they are supposed to look like. So I usually revert back to the original settings because the person who designed the table knows a lot more than I do.

I've been saving different versions of this table as they've developed & it's time to clear out some of them.

Is 1.2e release candidate the best one, or should I stick to 1.2d?

There will be a new release soon, and I expect it to be fantastic. The older releases will be kept for comparison reasons only ;)

Throw them all away and keep the next release  :tongue3:

It's difficult to say with the interim releases.  If you're not seeing any issues with 1.2e, I'd stick with that over 1.2d.
