The table loads fine but the flippers do not move.  I can add a coin, start game, launch ball but no flippers.  Flippers buttons work fine in other tables and worked on the VP9 version of Mare attacks.  Any ideas?

The ROM or Table?  I think I only downloaded the table last week.

Not moving flippers as start might indicated old VP install so you don't have support for Fast Flips. Two solutions. Update VP or play with slow flippers. Look for useSolenoids=2 inside table script. Change that to useSolenoids=1 instead.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I run VPX 10.5. Would that be enough for "Fast Flips"?

Backup your VP folder And install the latest 10.6....
Make sure all the VPS files (script Files) go in the script folder only, There should be no VPS files from VP 10.x in the tables folder

Thanks Thal.  I had an issue with both flippers getting stuck in the upright position.  Your suggestion worked for that.

VPX 10.5 is fine, as it is the latest beta 10.6,  but to support fast flips you also need to update vpinmame too. And the latest beta 3.2 is very good. Download it from here:

Thanks everyone here for the great support!

I installed the latest version of vpinmame.

But now both flippers stay in an upright position after the first press ....

Any ideas?

Yes. You did not update VP. Pinmame has several hard-coded fast flips fixes for Stern games. VP however. You need to make sure that you at the very least are running core.vbs from 10.6 beta series. I recommend updating to 10.6 beta as it is very stable and has great improvements over 10.5.

Now I updated successfully to 10.6. Unfortunately that did not change anything: The flippers stay up, after you press their buttons for the first time in AFM.

And now you look in tables folder for any *.vbs file - move them to scripts folder. Do the same for users folder. After that is done. Make sure that upgrade again. And DO include ALL files - especially scripts. I'm pretty sure that it is core.vbs that is your main problem still.

There was a "core.vbs" in a subdirectory "backup_vbs" which is  located under the "tables" directory.

I renamed that file, but it did not change anything.

I have been playing a lot of different vpx tables in the last 6 weeks, and AFM is the only one where I have that issue.

1) Search again

2) Re-download table

3) Reset rom to default https://vpinball.com...ble-to-default/

4) Set useSolenoids=2 to useSolenoids=1 if it is has 2 already.

Are you playing in DT or FS mode?

Just for reference, I’m currently playing AFM 1.3.0 in DT mode.
ROM is afm_113b.
Const UseSolenoids = 2 and FastFlips works.

Go to Preferences > Keys, Nudge, and DOF
Check the box “Disable B2S” and see if that makes a difference.

schwabinger....I left everything as is, ROM afm_113b, VP 10.5 and I am not sure what my pinmame is but I did not update or anything.  I just changed the "useselnoid" from 2 to 1 in the script for the table and it works fine now.

Hi all,

as a first solution I switched to

Const UseSolenoids = 1

Table plays very well now.

What is the effect of not having "fast flips"? My playfield is a 32" 60Hz TV.

If have  a setup with two monitors (playfield, backglass).

Thanks so much for all your help!

You're flippers will have a delay between 4-20ms ( fluctuates ) instead of close to a stable 0ms like real machines have. If you play VP a lot. You can get used to the "slow" flippers. But, sometimes you miss shots because of something you can't control. It's like putting a random value to the flippers. That is the only object on a VP table that should have no randomness applied to them at all imo. We are perfectly capable to add that by ourselves.

I'll look to enable 10.6 once it is out of beta so I can use the fast flips.  Thanks for the info!
