i tried all the different settings for useFocus= and have kept it on 'none' which seems to give less sounds.

I still have the issue where VP exit menu comes up when i hit my cab exit key.

In VP i notice that the key for exit says "e", but i cannot change it to something else??

Anyone know how to fix this. Other than this, I am running good. but annoying since i cannot use the hp sub-menus.

Maceman

Hi Maceman, if you look further up this page  I posted how to fix this (post #45 and #46). Did that solution not work for you?

(edit: actually page 3 - this post pushed it over)

maybe it will be possible in some future version to change sound level from menu, right now you have sound keys in vp which change system sound level - so you can use them without any change in fplaunch

maceman you can set usefocus to none internal external or both in settings.ini

Hi blur, I've created a tiny exe with AutoHotKey that runs the following lines on startup to let me control Windows audio with the IPAC:

^!Up::Send {Volume_Up}
^!Down::Send {Volume_Down}

I notice that FPLaunch is compiled with an ahk script. Is there anywhere easy I could throw these lines into the FPLaunch.ahk file and then recompile? My current solution is fine, I just thought it would be nice to have it all together if possible. Unfortunately I don't know enough about programming to be sure whether it's safe to insert these lines.

Also, even if I hold the volume button down the slider will only move one notch. Does anyone know what change I'd have to make so that it would continue to decrease the volume until I release it? Cheers.

you can put it anywhere after normal code - that means after comment "you should never come here"

maceman you can change exit key to anything - check fplaunch manual - some names have changed - exitemulatorkey is exitkey...

Hi Guys,

Thanx for trying to help. I had aslready read the manual blur...like 5 times :)

It ended up being in VP, the exit key in vp was set to 'e' as well and thus the problem. Did i change that? Maybe but i don't recall.

Interestingly, i couldn't change the key to the esc key, wouldn't take no matter what......any other key i could change it to, but not esc. weird. I ended up changing to j, but esc still exits :)

I'm still having this issue though:

6. I cannot enter highscore with flippers in VP for Deadly Weapon, which is the only one i've tried so far (probably since it was a new table with no Highscore yet). Related to the nvram?

Anyone else not having flippers recording highscores in rom based vp tables?

Anyone can help?

Maceman

funny that's already second user that says e was magically his exit key in vp and he didn't put it there, maybe there's some hidden default in vp, even though koadic says there isn't?

q is ideal for exit key since you already need to press q on that resume game dialog box - so two q gets you to editor

Esc is not controlled by that field - esc has checkbox - Disable esc key

6 - you mean you can't enter initials for hi score?

can you do it directly from vp - outside of hp?

EDIT:

I left the emu with ESC which leads into HP that cannot be controlled.

solution is exit Emu with "E" ;)

thanks for the update - great work!

Well, yeah, make that three. I have no idea where it's coming from at the moment, I thought it was related to newer builds.

I guess I'll have to take a closer look.

Edit: Yes, E is set to "Exit Key" in VP preferences. I'm positive I didn't put it there.

@maceman: Your issues with entering scores on Deadly Weapon is indeed rom related. I found out the "A" skips a letter backwards, forwards I don't know because I didn't spend too musch time with it.

As it is a rom coding, I don't think we could route these keys to the flipper keys (?)

Koadic - here is another "bug" report for VP - looks like something defaults to e, i know you tested by deleting that entry from registry but maybe it becomes e in some other circumstances.

thanx for the report guys. I will try these suggestions today when the cab is up.

@evil- that is interesting. It is weird that it is the rom...i mean, out of all tables i could have possibly chosen (and i have over 400) to set up my new fplaunch on HP, I choose one with a rom issue :) :)  So maybe it is not related at all to the new Fplaunch and thus AWESOME because that means i will not have this issue other than on DW.  It is hard for me to test this because i have pretty much Highscored on every table, so unless i trash the nvram on a table, i hardly get prompted to enter my name anymore :)  Will report back to status once i am up again and hopefully everything is fixed!

Cheers,

Maceman

Thanks for the tips guys, I had tried this build but was having the problem with the VP Exit menu coming up when I tried to exit through Hyperpin, so thanks for pointing out that I just need to use the 'E' key to exit back to the Hyperpin menu :)

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this script, I had it working great, but then I had a table crash on me (the new Sopranos), and now whenever I exit a table it doesn't take me back to the Hyperpin menu, and it seems that I just have a static image of the hyperpin menu and table graphic, and even though I hear the 3 'button thuds" I never seem to get control back (for instance the animated table movie never starts playing again)...

I have no idea what went wrong, but I'm guessing that if I reboot my computer then it'll just magically start working again... :)

One other thingh... oes anyone have issues with FP exiting back to HP?  I was going top mention this, but then i see it happens only on some tables. So for example, somew FP tables exit to HP, others, i need to press esc on keyboard as button on cab nmot working for it.

Cheers,

Maceman

For some reason, I thought I recalled that I needed to use the magna save buttons on my cab to enter the highscores?

Yup, rebooted and it's working perfectly again...  Still not sure why, I guess when a table crashes that some hyperpin settings must be getting 'stuck' or something?  I tried opening task manager and ending all of the processes that seemed to be associated with hyperpin/vp/fp, but Hyperpin still wouldn't work properly until I did a full restart of the PC...  weird...

I got most things working, but i noticed i cannot exit using my cab from VP editor directly, only via HP. I think this is because i cannot set the VP exit to esc anymore :(

Yep, this software can be extremely frustrating...  I thought I had everything working, entered and exited a few tables perfectly, exited and restarted Hyperpin a few times and tried launching/closing a few tables, and I was always returned to the Hyperpin menu perfectly.

Then I actually played a table, and tried to exit back to the menu, and it just takes me to a static Hyperpin menu screen that is completely unresponsive.  This happened earlier during my troubleshooting and was able to get the Hyperpin active again by ctrl-al-deleting to task manager and using the 'switch-to' option, but this time that trick isn't working...

So just when I thought it was working, turns out it isn't...  :)  Back to trouble shooting, just wish I knew what the problem is, but at this rate it might take a few weeks to even figure that part out :)  But I guess the configuration headaches and tweaking are all part of the fun right? ;)

The Exit Key binding may have been put there by a previous build and maybe doesn't happen anymore with current builds. I have used quite a few builds between 9.14 and now and ignored the problem for about two weeks.

So the problem is maybe already fixed.

if you run win 7 hyperpin must run in native mode, any compatibility mode on hp exe makes memory leak and kills any machine after few games

Thanks for the tip!  It felt like some sort of memory leak, as I also noticed that the table selection screen would start taking much longer to flip between games after a while as well...

I just thought that I had read that Hyperpin needed to be run in XP compatibility, so I was trying XP SP1/2/3, but didn't try just turning compatibility off! :)

This sounds like it might be solution, and yes, I am running Win7 64bit :)

Thanks everyone!

Glad to hear people are getting this to work.

I would say overall that this version is much better. It is much faster for me in everything except loading FP, but that is okay, i can wait for a table to load :)

The  wheel scrolling seems much faster. The table exit time is definitely faster. I like the highscores.

The only issue for me is that now that this is working, i cannot exit using my cab at all for FP and VP from their editors. Neither program gives the ability to change the exit key. FP's esc key is hardcoded, and VP, well VP has the issue i described already, and i always use Koadic's latest builds so it is not build related i feel.

Anyways, I can live with using the keyboard while editing tables, it is just confusing after the muscle memory keeps going for the cab to exit :)

Cheers,

Maceman

Sort of off topic, but in reference to loading times.  Has anyone tried running Hyperpin/VP/FP all from a solid state drive?

I tried copying everything over to my SSD last night, but loading times for both VP and FP tables seemed to be nearly identical to running them off of a standard internal drive.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed loading speed improvements when running off a SSD, or if I might not have had everything setup correctly...
