I also was having the same problem with Bigus mod of freneticamnesic table, sometimes it worked with VPX8 and sometimes I had to go back to VPX7.2 to get to work. I saw the script in Bigus and freneticamnesic tables and I thought "why so complicated script?" and I thought about to build the table myself. While searching for resources I found this World Joker Tour table and I thought I should make it with those graphics.
I built the table using VPX8 RC4 and an older vpinmame 3.6 beta. They were not absolute the latest revisions, and after 11 days the table was working perfectly.
Today I decided to update to the latest revision of VPX8 and vpinmame, so I downloaded the latest VPX8 Master:
Merge pull request #1935 from mjrgh/FrontEndControls-10.8.0 · vpinball/vpinball@21ff0b3
and I downloaded the 4 versions, x86, x64 and the GL versions
And the latest vpinmame from here:
Release v3.6.0-1122-79a301d · vpinball/pinmame
and I also downloaded both the x86 and x64.
Although I only downloaded the SC versions.
VPX8 gave me the error that hidapi.dll was missing and also the VPX8 x64 also was missing the hidapi64.dll. So I searched for an answer, and it looks like VPX8 Master revisions is missing those dll from the zip, but the 10.8.1 has them. So, I downloaded the latest 10.8.1 and unpacked those 2 dll into the VP folder, and VPX8 worked fine.
I also installed the latest C++ runtimes, from here: Download Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Oct 2024 | TechPowerUp
I also downloaded the latest Nvidia driver, which came out yesterday: GeForce Game Ready Driver 566.03 | Windows 11 | NVIDIA, revision 566,03 for Windows 11.
Windows 11 is also updated.
And I tested the table, and it still worked fine.
So, what's the problem with that rom? I don't know. I also have had that same problem with the Bigus table that it hangs right after the displaying of the red leds, and sometimes it only worked with VPX7.2, but now it is also working with these latest versions. The problem has been intermittent, one day it worked and another day it didn't.
My table uses just a normal plain script, no strange hacks, nothing special, and it works with the latest revisions of the programs. So, what's the problem? I don't know, but it doesn't seem related only to VPX or vpinmame.
