@Data101 that crash looks to me a problem with some drivers more than a VPX problem.

I just actually got a chance to actually play, play this.
LOL the multi ball crushed my laptop (partially do to running a wireless virtual backglass screen)
and it was still awesome, even though i lost 3/4 of the ball frames hehehe.
Cant wait to try it on desktop

You found a colored ROM?
I tried to do the patch thing but it did not work on the STLE0162.bin firmware for me

and i could not find one that someone had patched and had working already unless i wanted an older ROM

@wiesshund : I expect that he just changed the rom to a lower version in the script.

Have to agree. Many credits acquired here without any issues.

@Thalamus eh, i will keep the newer ROM
No one else will be playing but me, so i wont notice the colour anyway, too busy trying not to lose the ball to look at it.

If i have a PUP Pack for this table, how do I go about updating the table to where the Pup Pack still works? I'm assuming something has to be changed in the script? Great job with the colors. Can't wait to play it.

No, you don't need to change anything for the pup pack. It is the roms name that decides what videos will be started. This table is built on the latest Stern rom, so, I expect your pack is made for the previous version. Rename the puppack folder is one way of solving it. One thing though. Puppack question is best asked in the support thread of the download. It's a good habit to follow, helps us all in the long run.

I tried to do the patch thing but it did not work on the STLE0162.bin firmware for me

and i could not find one that someone had patched and had working already unless i wanted an older ROM

if you want the 162 colored you need to ask the person that colored 161  to release it

or

you need to ask him for the macro (generated by Pinball Browser when the rom was colored)  and the smartDMD.txt file

or

the full Pinball Browser project so that you can export the macros.

the macros is basically a history list of every modification applied to the rom

Attached File  Capture.PNG   104.63KB   3 downloads

I never tried it but

you should be able to load STLE0162.bin  into Pinball Browser and apply the same changes (run the 161 macros) to the newer rom.

I used an older colored rom from another Star Trek table. It may not be the right one, but for me it works.

Hi,

Thanks for this great recreation! The table looks and feels good, you guys did really a good job!  :otvclap:

I'm here to report a problem too that maybe occurs for other people (or maybe it's the normal behavior of this virtual table):

- As I notice the left VUK guide (left hole lock-start mode shot) is not the same as the real one and indeed it sends the ball back up to the warp ramp, feeding the right flipper.

It can be a problem as this left hole shot scores both warp ramp and the right orbit, making it almost a cheat to easily score the other two.

Just a little vid to illustrate my point:

Otherwise, this table is almost perfect. Thanks again!

@redafoe : and that is why it is called JP's Star Trek LE, he re-created a prototype this time around. Note the "JP's", Juan adds this to the table names to let us know that you most probably will not find a machine in the wild playing exactly like those releases. Look more closely at the release description of those tables for more details. Capt Fantastic pr. example "I removed one flipper, added an extra flipper lane on the left, a left gate and 7 digits score."

You don't seem to care for realism anyway. Using VP9 nudge.

Yes, as Thalamus said, all my "JP's" tables are not 100% like the original ones, you should see those tables as my own vision. There was already a really nice Star Trek, so I decided to make it like the prototype, with the VUK shooting the ball upwards. Then I made my own graphics and ramps. But the layout should be as close as possible to the real table. And as I wrote in the info, I made this table to test my physics and compare them to the flipper tutorials, as those tutorials used Stern's Star Trek. And I was happy with the result, as I could make most of the tricks and all the shots and backhands as in the videos. There are of course limitations to the VPX flippers, as my settings only try to get the most out of VPX physics just like they are now. If you prefer some more precision then you should go for the flipper and rubber enhancements that nFozzy and Rothbauer are doing in their tables, but since those settings require a lot of math calculation done in the script then you'll need a really good CPU, otherwise the table will not be playable.

Indeed I'm sorry, I didn't see this:

It includes the prototype vuk which sends the ball up to the ramp.

But still it sounds weird for me that it scores both warp ramp and right orbit when you shoot the left hole, even for a prototype. Anyway with my poor builder skill in VP I modified it and it knows kick the ball to the left orbit without any scoring exploit.

And for the ''You don't seem to care for realism anyway.'' comment, maybe my nudge settings are wrong and you can help me?

I play on a keyboard and the Legacy/VP9 nudge is unchecked in the Keys, nudge,DOF settings. I just use 3 different binds to nudge : left, right and up. I always lower the nudge time value in the physics or tweak the sensitivity in the script of the table, things I've just found working for me to correct this problem. I just forgot to do it on the video, it was the first time I played this table.

I care indeed about realism when I play, the fact that I use this type of nudging on the video doesn't mean I don't tweak the tables I download to get a more realistic feeling, especially on the flippers for example.

I'm not a pro VP user as my forum badge can tell you, I was just sharing something that, as a player, looked wrong for me.
Thanks for the reply anyway. Have fun and go play some pinball.

I'm really enjoying JPs prototype version of STLE. What a great gift and a smooth shooter! Thanks JP.

Just an FYI. Love to see 1.62 colorized rom. I might consider trying 32assassins idea of updating 1.62 with the 1.61 macros. It should be pretty close unless some of these fixes have screen changes that will force those screens to uncolorized.

V1.62 - June 5, 2018
=======================

- Fixed a presentation issue where solid shot lights in Destroy the Drill II were showing when they weren't available.
Now, all available shots blink including the roving 2X shot.
- Fixed an issue in Nero II where shots/lights were not being displayed correctly. This only occurred during multi-player games.
- Fixed an issue in Mode Select where mode select would not show up quickly between balls. This occurred during multi-player games.
- Fixed an issue in Kobayashi Maru where double scoring was timing out due to the presentation length of Kobayashi Maru.
- Fixed an issue in Kobayashi Maru where the background music was missing.
- Added sound FX and a longer light show presentation for the final shot in Kobayashi Maru.
- Fixed a problem if you Drill Down 3 deep in a mode, i.e play Destroy the Drill I, II, III. . When you get through the
last III mode, you could get robbed out of the second/third wizard mode (Enterprise Amok Multiball would not start,
and, if you made it to Five Year Mission, the game would instead start Enterprise Amok Multiball. After the last
wizard mode you couldn't start any modes for the rest of the game. It could also crash the game while in this state.
- Fixed an issue in Nero II where the shot count was not properly shown when interrupted by other modes/events.
- Fixed a bug that was causing the Magnet to ignore the "disabled" adjustment.
- Added audit for total number of one, two, three, and four players games that have been played.

@wiesshund : I expect that he just changed the rom to a lower version in the script.

@redafoe : Then get yourself a KL25Z (http://mjrnet.org/pi...de.php?sid=tilt) - build yourself a small box or something, search stubby, there are a few examples, get proper leaf switches and keyboard controller. Preferable, create the box large enough to hold even a analogue tilt bob. A stubby can be nice to have the day you go for 3D too. Actually, this is quite inexpensive and I can promise you, you won't regret it.

JP,

How do you change the script to allow the launch button to act as a punch it? or what key is punch it? I have to wait for the mission timer to run out before the next mission.

Just press any of the magnasave buttons (usually the left and right CTRL keys)
