Look in setup.exe - what roms exists for the table. Then get all the related releases for the table from VPU ( yes - still down - so, once it is back up ). That way, all your roms will work, even in the older versions if you like.

If you actually are having rom issues. Then use setup.exe to see what the problem might be. Is it complaining about files ? Maybe *.snd files ? Guess what, you probably won't have sound. Get your rom collection properly managed.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Try downloading the other rom (sprbreak) for it and running with it first. See if it has sound. If so then switch back to the original rom (sprbrks)

I had to do this to get my sound to work with this table and with Mystery Castle.

Yep...this did it!  I did not have the ROMs and could not get from here...so I went to a site I do not normally use.  But in the end your trick worked.

Thanks!

I was not getting any sound errors...tabled played like normal...it was very odd.  But another person gave me a trick to try and it worked.

Nope - missing rom sounds won't give you an error.

A lot of folks disable the warnings so they can play color ROMs or rom hacks.   If you go into VPInMame's setup and test the rom there it will show you the sound roms are missing.

The reason this happens is that VPinMame is a descendant of MAME that supports split/merged ROM sets.   If the ROM is a from a split set, it expects to find the "common" sound ROMs in the parent (in this case, spbreak), not the most recent version which most tables point to.    The idea of split sets is to save disk space.

In the VPX world the pinball roms that are broken up in this manner are miniscule in size by modern standards, so sites really ought to just share merged sets to avoid this confusion.    Stern ROMs are bigger, but they're monolithic, so splitting/merging doesn't help with the size of those, anyway.

We love the table. yesterday the ball get stucked at the left top ramp curve. Ok let's tilt - nothing.

here the fix (taken out of JP's Titan):

'**********************************************************************************************************
'Plunger code
'**********************************************************************************************************

Sub Table1_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode)

If KeyCode=RightFlipperKey Then Controller.Switch(35)=1
If keycode = LeftTiltKey Then Nudge 270, 5:PlaySound SoundFX("fx_nudge", 0), 0, 1, -0.1, 0.25
If keycode = RightTiltKey Then Nudge 90, 5:PlaySound SoundFX("fx_nudge", 0), 0, 1, 0.1, 0.25

If vpmKeyDown(KeyCode) Then Exit Sub
End Sub

Sub Table1_KeyUp(ByVal KeyCode)

If KeyCode=RightFlipperKey Then Controller.Switch(35)=0
If vpmKeyUp(KeyCode) Then Exit Sub
End Sub

'**********************************************************************************************************

Thank you, Christian.

I'm not getting any ball rolling sounds. The ROM sounds are all there, bumper and slingshot sounds seem to play normally as well. When I play the rolling sounds from the table sound menu, they sound normal.

Anyone have any idea what the reason could be? On all my other tables, I get normal ball rolling sounds.

I would love to try out this table with Hauntfreaks’ new backglass but the sprbrks rom isn’t downloadable from VPF, VPU or PN. It seems to only be listed on one or two sketchy sites. Does anyone know if it is possible to have it added to VPF’s site? Not sure if there is a formal way to request this.

SixOfTwelve,

Thanks to Urko and Hauntfreaks I am now able to play this game. It is very fun but I also am not getting any ball rolling sounds. I went into the script and see that it is JP Salas' ball rolling script that is being used. Maybe if he sees this post he would be kind enough to look at the script and see if he can see what the issue is.

The problem is that the rolling sounds in the table have a very low volume. You can hear them if you play them in the Sound Manager, but you can't hear them in the table, as the rolling routine lowers the sounds at lower speeds.

The solution is to replace the sounds with a new set of sounds that has a higher volume.

Also the script is very old, and it only has stereo sound output from the routines. I simply copied the routines to the script from the new table in VPX74. And I also changed all the Pan commands with AudioPan, which is the name used in the New table.

So, replace all the sounds, and replace the script with this one:

EDIT: new script, the same as in a few posts down:

Attached File  script.zip   7.27KB   8 downloads

Hi JP,

I replaced the script with the new one and all the ball rolling sounds with the new ones in the sound manager and I am still not hearing the ball roll when playing the table. Any other suggestions?

Hi BostonBuckeye,

just go into sound manager, select fx_ballrolling0-9 and rise the volume with slider, perhaps to + 0.5

Play the game and re-adjust the volume if it doesn't fit at first try...

Many thanks JPsalas, for such a quick solution, much appreciated.

:( still no ball rolling sounds though and replaced with the 2 downloads,

tried increasing volume (slider to full) of the rolling sounds in sound manager too , nothing.

Whatever the issue is , it isnt to do with the sound file volumes.

I had the sounds for a while, and now, indeed, the sounds are not there (!?). I'll take a look :)

don't know what you do - i have fine ball rolling sound with this table (replaced script and sounds, and rised volume of the ballrolling sounds)

Ok apologises , it is working but the mechanics volume with f12 has to be set very high to even hear the ball sounds at average volume.

don't know what you do - i have fine ball rolling sound with this table (replaced script and sounds, and rised volume of the ballrolling sounds)

Did that but until i raised the mechanics sound (sound volume f12) very high i didnt.

Just needs mechanics volume quite high.

Im using a cabinet SSF , what i might do is make the sound files even louder , so i can reduce the overall mechanics volume.

Because even if the slider in sound manager is on full for them , still need overall mechanics volume set 80% for a good volume for them as table mix goes.

Made files louder , set slider in sound manager to full for them and now a good mix with about 50% sound options f12.

My issue might just be the cabinet SSF, but others are having issues as well.

Appreciate all the work put into this issue JPsalas , cheers.

There was definately no ball rolling sounds before your overall fixes for me.

Thank you very much JP! Digitalarts is correct. All I needed to do was raise the volume for the rolling sounds in the sound manager. Thank you for your quick fix!

EDIT: Deleted complaint about stuck ball as well as a frankly unnecessarily unfair comment about the table. Turns out I must have messed something up when I fiddled with the camera view.
