Open the script & search or use Find and locate "cGameName". It will list the ROM.

Here's an example, this is from Alien Poker.

17 Const cGameName = "alpok_l6"

You would need alpok_l6.

Go to the ROM download section of the VPForum website (usually) to get it.

Hey guys!

I'm brand new to the world of Visual Pinball, so go easy on me...

So, I do have a MAME arcade cabinet here at home, and I'm very familiar with how arcade emulation works etc.

But. Reading this thread. I see many people have had the same problem as me.

Open Visual Pinball > Load table > Play > Insert your coins > Press '1', and.... nothing!

Seems the remedy is "Locate the correct ROM!".

But... my friends... how is one to do that, when the only tables you want to play are Gottlieb ones, and they have ordered that every site take down said ROMs?

I looked into Visual Pinball, as a means to not pay extortionate money on Steam for "Pinball Arcade" tables.
But it seems I have no choice, when tables like Black Hole and Tee'd Off just don't exist in the realm of ROMs anymore.

If someone could help me out with a miniscule list of ROM files, I'd super appreciate it.
There must be like 10 (total) tables I wish to play. And that's it. :/

First of all. Turn off Force Fullscreen mode under video preferences. That is probably hiding the real error message. Or is the cause of the error because you need to turn odd ddraw to make it work. Look it up via search in the right corner I don't want to explain it again.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

The tables still need ROMs to work, though. Or so everyone says...

UPDATE:

I have read your previous response concerning this "Force Fullscreen Mode", I have since found it in the preferences, and it was already unticked.
Tried ticking it and unticking it... and zilch. Nothing.

The tables I am trying to play are as follows:
-Black Hole
-Tee'd Off
-Super Mario Bros.
-Super Mario Bros. in Mushroom World
-Victory
-Goin' Nuts
(These are just the Gottlieb ones I'm trying to play)

On the other hand...
I've had a read around some other forums, and I have sought after a MEGA upload, or some kind of .7z or torrent with Gottlieb ROMs, and my search has been fruitless.

I've spent all of last night and all of today understanding how this software (in particular) works, and it just seems that I'm missing the key ingredient, which is seemingly no longer available. *Sadface*

But yeah. That force fullscreen thing? That did nothing on my end, sorry. >.<

You should really not only go for Gottlieb's for most tables the rom is linked to the right of the table download link. Put it in roms folder and you should be good to go.

Not always a table does not work because of problems with the rom.
First of all you should verify that you have the ROM you need in the ROM folder. If so, when it does not work insert coin or start, put the mouse pointer on the playing field and click with the left button, if at this point the table is lit and works well, you have a focus problem.

Sorry for the late response here, guys.

UPDATE 2:

So, don't worry about the ROMs. I found some, and got the tables working. (Hooray!)

I since did a couple of fresh re-installs with the latest all-in-one installer.
Fixed my dB2S issue, got rid of some error prompts, and got my Visual DMD to work properly.

And I know this probably isn't the place to post this but...

I got all the tables working great. Fixed all my problems.

Now out of seemingly nowhere, I've somehow got stutter issues?

Noticed this on Tee'd Off and Super Mario Bros. (not Mushroom World).

So, I've went from everything working perfectly, to having stutter issues by touching no settings.
What happened?

I had the same issue.  I could hit the coin button and here the coin drop but it would not give me any credit to start the game.  As a work around, I did this:

1)  Load Game

2)  Start Game

3)  Hit 7 to enter the game settings

4) Hit left flipper to make adjustments

5) When in adjustments, keep hitting 7 until you get to the free game mode.  Turn it on by hitting the right Shift button.

6) Hit 7 one more time.

Exit and restart.  Then I could play it.

Just fixed problem with Tee'd Off and Stargate not adding credits when you add coins.

(Assuming 1 is the start button)

Press END, 7

Use flippers to select "game adjustments"

Press 1, 1, HOME.

This "SLAM TILTS" the machine!

Might need a F3 to reset but will be fixed. The first coin you drop you will hear a female voice asking you to insert another coin. When you do you will see credits = 1.

Or you can just download the pre-inialized NVRAM package, and that will fix all tables that need this pre-initialized nvram to accept coins.

This is for Bally 6803 and Gottlieb System 3 tables.

https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=1362

Copy contents of package into your nvram folder located where VPinMAME is installed.

I tried that at the suggestion earlier. It did not help.

The preinitialized nvrams DO WORK, is what I use and what everybody uses. I guess only a few of us do all that rom adjustments in those Bally, 6803 and the gottlieb system 3 tables :)

Yes they do work, and they make it much easier for people to get these tables to accept coins without having to go into adjustment menus.

(No rom adjustment knowledge needed.)

Stargate and Teed Off are both Gottlieb System 3 tables and are both included in the pre-initialized nvram package.
