You take the time, energy and expense to build a cab but DON'T install the best pinball simulation software ever created?  So you can't play - Transformers, Spiderman, Tron Legacy, POTC, Family Guy, Iron Man,  Avatar and hundreds of other fantastic recreations - all much better than the VP version?

To me it's like building a MAME cabinet and only installing a NES emulator!

But now you will just because you can show off to your mates all the fancy 3D stuff.  Crazy.

Yeah Jon, I know right? Lol! In the beginning, last Spring when I built my cab, it appeared that VP was more advance and becoming more popular. So I went with it. The last few nights, I was scoping out FP and saw the features and all the tables available. I'm impressed and see what I am missing. This weekend I am installing FP and getting tables. I didn't realize FP was that "good". Ha! Like your MAME cab analogy! I hope FP works as well and installed easier than VP. Now, with BAM on the horizon, it further justifies FP for sure.

That's good to know.  There are so many awesome tables for FP now. And like it's name suggests......it IS the future of Pinball.  Chris Leatherly (it's creator) was a gifted visionary.

Seriously, if you're a fan of modern Pins, the FP Stern collection will keep you glued to your Cab for days!

Great!! I can't wait to add FP to my cab. Love modern pins. Seems hard theses days to find them (the real ones) locally. So, this should be a good fix.

In my neck of the woods, real machines are rarer than Rocking Horse poo so video games are the only chance I will ever get to playing them.  Some of the FP recreations are actually better than the real machines.  Try Star Trek 20th Anniversary Edition, even owners of the real table think the FP version is better.

Few questions. The impression I get is that the FP physics are silly, much worse than anything out there. Your opinion?

And where is the best place to DL these FP tables? I know this site has some DLs, but I heard there is a main site with more selection.

Finally, what is the backglass system for FP?

Oh, and your comment that some FP tables are better than the real, mechanical, versions. That's just impossible...lol. Emulation is great, but no one would pass up a real version of their favorite pin.

1.  FPs physics have improved a lot over the past few months.  Try the new updated FP 2.5 (an unofficial release).  But you must play a table configured for 2.5 to really feel the benefit.  Fire up any old table and it will probably play like crap.

2. Most of the tables can be downloaded from www.pinsimdb.org

3. Not sure about the Backglass system query.  FP doesn't need any independent system to animate the backglass, it's all done in the game in real time.

4. You'd really have to try the tables out for yourself to see what I mean.  No, the physics will never beat a real table but the sound design and playability of any table can be and has been improved.

I checked the site, all i see are desktop versions of tables. Are there no fullscreen or cab versions of tables?

Unlike VP you don't have to make tables individually for Desktop or Fullscreen. Inside of Future Pinball you set the options to either play in desktop or in fullscreen. Look under Preferences -> Video / Rendering Options and in the top left section under Screen Resolution is where you set your layout. If you want fullscreen cabinet you put a checkmark in Arcade Mode. If you want desktop you remove the checkmark. You also enable Second Monitor for Backbox if you have a cabinet with a backbox.

Very cool. I'll DL FP sometime and give Tron Legacy a try, heard that one is amazing. Would I still use the directB2S backglasses you can download here? Or are FP tables not based on table ROMs which the backglass interacts with.

You don't need anything from VP for FP to work. Just download the Future Pinball table from pinsimdb.org and GO! :)
