there is no time limit for menu - it should stay forever - maybe your screen goes off?

for fp print screen doesn't work on some platforms - nvidia for example - since in fp menu is drawn over printscreen image - if image is black - menu background is also black

Yes, actually it's the screen that goes out when pulling up the menu. The black is the background during a pause.   In fact it's random times. Sometimes it will stay on the screen for 12 seconds, other times, 1 second; it's very random. Also, I did some more testing and the same thing happens with any Virtual Pinball table. Only difference is, there is no black background. I tried the previous version of FPLaunch (before hi scores were added) and it's the same problem. I went back and tried one of the very early FPLaunch and that has no problem. Oh well, I'll just have to keep experimenting. If something comes to mind, do let me know -- again thanks for your efforts on this fantastic addition.

maybe you have sleep mode on tv which activates when screen is black and still - check all tv menus - I remember that rosve had problems with backglass screen going off and it was all due to tv settings

also windows might turn of monitor if you set it and there could be a setting to turn of monitor or show desktop when mouse goes to corner

Thanks for the suggestions; I have power management set so the screen never turns black and no mouse commands for blacking out the screen. I even tried changing between 3 NVidia  drivers from different years. I notice when I hit P, the score and menu pop up, but then seconds later, the menu and score disappearing (same on VP but the table is visible while FP has black background). then if I have the right flipper, the menu pops up again, and now remains on-screen but without the score. Oh well - I'll keep experimenting and live with it because I love the focus feature but I also love having the hi-score table handy.

EDIT: Got rid of the black screen background with 3 year old Nividia Drivers.  Still have the pause menu not staying on screen problem.

Something interesting. P brings up full menu and score, 3-12 seconds later, it disappears, but not really off. It's running invisible as the flipper key will call the menu right back up (minus the score this time)  until I exit back to table properly. It only disappears when the P is first hit and the score is shown on top.

Hi Blur,

I have just upgraded to this version of FPLaunch after being on WIP4 for a long time, as I needed the option to use multiple .exes (for some reason Congo and Lord of the Rings slow to a crawl when run under the latest build so I have to use 9.14 for them).

However, when I press escape to bring up the menu on a table it brings up the exit table dialog from VPinball instead. I then have to use Task Manager to switch focus back to Hyperpin. Is there something simple I haven't configured correctly?

Cheers

Ok, so just read this in the FP instructions and I'm going to try this now - sorry for clogging up the thread when the answer was elsewhere but thought I'd paste it in case someone else searches for it:

2. Problems with some controllers (IPAC, KeyWiz, Pinball Wizard) in all tables - not just B2S:
On short press of Esc key VP opens VP pause window with Quit to editor, Debug and Resume options.
On long press of Esc key VP crashes and throws an error instead of clean close.
On short press of Esc key FP exits instead of just pausing and invoking blue Pause screen.
If this happens to you, to solve it:
Reprogram your controller or your converter (joy2key/xPadder) to send "e" instead of "Esc" on Exit button
Put "e" key in settings file for exitEmulatorKey and Hyperpin Exit key, like this:
[Keyboard]
Exit = 69
[FPLaunch]
exitEmulatorKey = e
If you want to use some other key you can find keycodes for Hyperpin and little bit more info on this problem later in this thread:
http://www.hyperspin....625#post107625
You don't need to configure this new exit key in VP or FP.

Ok, that's all working well now.

The only issue I have is that when I exit a table the button press sound effect gets played twice upon returning to the menu, pauses for 2 seconds and then plays the effect once more. Does anybody else have this happen? I've done a search but couldn't see it mentioned anywhere. The hyperpin menu is unresponsive until it has played these 3 sound effects.

I am using only visual pinball tables through this version of Hyperpin on Windows XP. I'm running VPinball rev476 but this sound issue happens on all tables including the few I have to run under VPinball 9.14.

Yes..   I am getting the same sound effect upon exit of the table.    I get two quick button press sounds follow by another 2- 3 seconds later.   This does not occur with earlier versions  of FPlaunch.  This seems to have appeared to start with the addition of jukebox support being added.    I am running Window 7 64 and vp 914 rev. 442.

I'm getting it too. It was annoying so I renamed the .WAV file making the noise to something else just so it wouldn't play the sound on exit. I don't mind the delay as much as the three clicks every time.

the three clicks are there by design, Blur has a post in here somewhere explaining what they mean.  I think he added them in fairly recently to help people with focus issues, if you hear all three clicks it means you have control back and can start scrolling through the tables again.

with latest vp you can change esc key to something else, q for example, so q will open vp pause dialog box and two q will exit the table so you can use esc for exit menu

but still b2s will close on esc and fp tables also so if you use them it's better to switch to e

sounds are normal - you can reduce three sounds to two by using internal or external useFocus in settings file - which ever works better on your rig

default is to use both

first sound means vp is closed, second means internal focus got focus on hyperpin and third means external focus got focus on hyperpin

Thanks for that blur. I ended up putting the useFocus setting to none and it has almost cut out the sounds entirely - it seems to play just a fraction of the sample when I exit now. Preferable for me.

none is also ok for people that don't have focus problems - it doesn't try to focus hyperpin - it leaves that to hyperpin

probably your os is xp?

I'm 100% cool with using pinemhi, I just didn't realize it needed to be configured with the path, works fine for me now. I only wish I could turn off the listing of the "Buy-In" scores, since that's a feature I turn off on all my tables, always felt it was kinda cheap. Not a huge deal though. :)

Thanks blur!
Poof....
Your wish has been granted by the hiscore-fairy :)

Have to wait till the next release though but that won't be too long.
I already got it working here...

:drinks:

So is this in release 1.1 because I cant find a way to turn off the buy-in scores for the life of me?

Hi Blur,

Thanx for your hard work as always....

Need HELP Please!!

So i was able to finally install the latest version today. Nothing is working for me other than the odd table.

1. Focus.exe continues to run after exiting HP, hear sound forever until i kill process.

2. How to disble many click/load sounds in HP? So when i exit a table for example, i hear it at least 3 times. Can i disable perhaps 2 of them :)

3. Only problem so far is pressing exit in table to bring up menu also brings up VP dialog. How to not see dialog?

4. Fplaunch still runs after exiting a table as per the task manager.

5. FP taking forever to load. Seems to be somewhere after it is showing HP's loading table pic and then trying to find the fp loading screen, takes 20 secs just for that part of process.

Other that that, which i hope is easy to fix, it seems to run pretty good. I really like the highscores listed at top when going tinto the menu. Nice touch!

Cheers,

Maceman

6. I cannot enter highscore with flippers in VP for Deadly Weapon, which is the only one i've tried so far. Related to the nvram?

edit: oh oh- i just noticed i cannot exit from FP. It looks hardcoded in FP and cannot be changed?

Hi Blur, will it ever be possible to have a master volume controlled through FP_Launch? I ask as I've only just put a few Future Pinball tables on to my cabinet and their volume is significantly louder than the VP tables. I've adjusted the majority of them using home/end and pgup/pgdn to be at a reasonable level, but if I ever want to turn them down even lower (late at night or something) I don't usually have a keyboard plugged in - for VP I use 2 hardware buttons, one for volume up, one for down ('-' and '+' I think). Well, I guess I can turn the FP music down since I have 'end' as a hardware button for opening the coin door... but that's it.

Anyway, I was just wondering if this would even be possible with the way that FPLaunch works. Cheers.

maybe it will be possible in some future version to change sound level from menu, right now you have sound keys in vp which change system sound level - so you can use them without any change in fplaunch

maceman you can set usefocus to none internal external or both in settings.ini

i tried all the different settings for useFocus= and have kept it on 'none' which seems to give less sounds.

I still have the issue where VP exit menu comes up when i hit my cab exit key.

In VP i notice that the key for exit says "e", but i cannot change it to something else??

Anyone know how to fix this. Other than this, I am running good. but annoying since i cannot use the hp sub-menus.

Maceman
