Hi,

Sorry, I know I asked this question before but I'm still a bit unsure how things work. I know there was a graphical fix in 9.1.3/ 9.1.4 that was present in 9.1.2. Does this mean that all tables that use reels and were designed for 9.1.2 will have graphic problems? All other 9.1.2 tables that do not use reels should be fine then? I see that hyperpin is capable of running 2 different vp.exe's so I guess I could use 914 as the default and use 912 for any tables that I experience problems with. Is there a guide on how to set this up somewhere? Thanks :D

I too would like to know how to set up hyperpin to run 2 exe's, as I am currently running a modified vp 9.12 by "johnparker007" which allows me run tables at different texture settings without having to manually change them.

I obviously don't want to lose this option.

Just tried this 9.1.4 with TZ night mod which has always stuttered even with my GTX470 and i5 system. Now... Totally smooth!! So whatever was done to eliminate the micro stuttering must be working :)

I will try the sound card separation for VP / pinmame sounds during the weekend.

A big thanks for this update!

YAY! So at least the fixes weren't useless.. :)

Follow up: It appears as if there's a second plunger being animated underneath the first (I see a slight outline that moves down)...so plunger itself is working but there's a second plunger appearing above the working one? Something might need commenting out? Again the same tables only show one plunger under 9.1.2

Okay, I just figured out how to rig my sound settings to treat the front and rear headphone jacks as two separate outputs. Then I was able to select the second one in VP, and currently have all table sounds running to one output, and all ROM music and sound samples etc running to another. Now I just need to factor in how to take advantage of this into my build. :)

Thanks for the update, this might lend a subtle but noticeable aspect of realism to a cabinet if done right.

Hi, i have 2 outputs on my realtek configured, but where do i tell pinmame / VP what ist going over which one ?
In vp i only can choose one dropdown and then it comes all over that ..

Vpinmame is gonna go over your default sound card, whichever that may be. VP 'sounds' (not music) will be redirected to the sound card that you specify in the Preferences> Audio menu.

I'm traveling and away from my PC, so I can't look up the exact wording for you, but you launch VP, go the prefs menu and select audio. There are two things about the music and audio, and then some kind of button to select and audio output. If you click that you should see the two outputs, labeled 1 and 2 or something like that. If you set it up like I did then 2 will be the front headphone jack. Anyways, just set VP to use 2, everything else will still be on 1 by default.

You need to restart VP but then if you launch it again you should only hear table noises, no ROM sounds, out of that input you selected (front headphone in my case).

Just made the changes to my cab for separate audio output for pinmame and VP and it worked great!!! It's just incredible how much more real it feels when the mechanical sounds come from inside the cab. I had also couple of bass shakers installed which I couldn't use previously much due to constant shaking caused by the rom sounds playing through the same output. Now they work nicely with just the VP sounds. Thanks a LOT for this feature!

I do have one question though... how is it supposed to work with VP music tracks? I had a weird experience when I tried the AC/DC music table and I think that the songs came from both outputs... is it even possible? The shakers were shaking constantly with the music but still I could hear the song from the backbox speakers as well. Anyway it's not a big deal -> I can always turn the shakers off when playing tables with VP music but just curious how it's supposed to work.Didn't spend too much time investigating because I had so much fun playing other tables with the new setup!

Hi folks! I recently switched to 9.14 and now I have a problem.

1) Some tables have a little stuck in the beginning of the game (when I throw the first coin), after a few seconds everything works fine.
2) Some tables work well, but when I hit the flipper(s) - everything starts to slow down and freeze - which is impossible to play. :( (Among these tables: TAF(FS), CFBL(FS)-new mod, latest Cirqus_Voltaire(FS) from JP)

Maybe it's not because of the new version, i dunno. I had another problem not long ago (http://www.vpforums....190#entry202999but I do not think that they are related.

PS: XP SP3, nvidia 9600GT (1GB)

UPD. Clean some stuff, reboot -  now everything works fine. I just hope it will not happen again.

you have to create a file named vp908tables.txt in hyperpin\settings and put inside something like:

Black Hole (Gottlieb 1981)
VPinball912.exe

first line is table name, without vpt, second line is exe name, so you can have many different exes in use

this is a little tweak to big boss code which would always launch vp908.exe if table name is found in that file

I really like the feature that allows separation of mechanical sounds from the rest.

The only problem I have is with setting the volume level of both at the same time. In my setup I can control the volume with two buttons (up/down) that are effectively doing the same like raising or lowering the Windows sound volume by clicking on the speaker in the taskbar and sliding the volume bar. I use an AHK script for this, via IPAC mapping. This works great for the default sound device but has no effect on the secondary audio output which is for the mechanical sounds. So when using the separation feature, the volume buttons will control the soundtrack of the table, but the mechanical sounds stay the same as the volume set in VP for that device. This is not good.

Does anyone have an idea how to control the volume for both sound devices at the same time?

Hey there,

I configured my table sounds to play in the cabinet and mame sounds to come out of my backbox speakers, but I ran into an issue with the latest Elvis table. I am getting both cabinet sounds and games sounds out of both sets of speakers. Its odd becasue the sounds coming from the backbox speakers is delayed about 1/2 a second from the cabinet set of speakers. Has anyone else exprienced this issue or similar with another table?

I can name a few similar tables :) LOTR, RIpleys, my next Sopranos... This is because I used the rom samples instead of letting the rom play the sounds. Mostly because the emulation needs a powerful computer. And a few years ago the best solution (made by destruk/gaston) was to sample all the rom sounds and then use VP to play the sounds. This way the tables run much better. Now with the new computers, that's not an issue anymore, but I still prefer to use them, and use the extra cpu speed to other effects :)

There are plenty of threads about how to use the rom sound instead of the samples :) (I even think I explained in the release thread)
