Has anyone checked to see if the model importer still works? .. or tables that used custom models?

I have tried a few of my WIPs with many models and Toys on and noticed no difference.

My "Helloween - 7 Sinners" pinball works fine with this version and it is using custom Models...

I have to say it's stuff like this that makes me wish I had never donated to FP. So silly to take features away, even if it was something we weren't really supposed to know about.

I donated to Chris because I wanted to thank him for what he had already built. I have no regrets in doing that. I understand your frustration though.

The main reason I'm saying it is I'm tired of people saying stuff like "it's free, be happy". I didn't have to donate, but I wanted to say thanks for the software. After I donated the FP forums have closed, and now this debacle with the update. For the guys who use FP in 4:3 or have not played with the lighting in the registry, you won't notice much difference. For the guys who have used the registry lighting to customize the lighting on their cabs, you will notice the difference quickly. I still thank Chris for his software, I'm just disappointed with the removal of the registry lighting.

I just got back home after taking the kids to a circus, and looks like a lot has happened since this morning! I haven't been able to check but I guess the arcade table angle settings have gone as well that Rawd found (as well as the lighting settings)? If so, I am gutted as that transferred whole the arcade mode into something truely fatntastic (ie: no egg-shaped ball), so that is very bad news.

I also donated a few months ago and don't regret it. We can only hope that there may still be a newer version in the pipeline....

So.. When does the new version expire? And can it still be tricked with the PC date rollback?

Is it any coincidence then that the PS3 is completely jailbreak'd and open?
Rawd - the new version doesn't expire. So a quick guess could be made that this is the 'final' version of future pinball that will be released to the public, or not.

sorry I saw the answer to my question earlier up in the thread - the angles settings are still there fool.gif . My excuse is I was reading on an Ipod touch and the old eyes aren't the same as they once were. otvwimper.gif

I have not yet downloaded the update...

You can still adjust the angle, but not the lighting?

(That is not as bad as what I had initially thought, but they go hand in hand when adjusting the table.)

For what it's worth:

I had found the lighting settings about a month before Rawd did. I asked Chris about them since they'd not been disclosed or documented, and he had requested me not to announce them on the forum, so I respected that and didn't. He mentioned, too, at that time, to me, that he was going to be taking them out in the next release.

As far as future releases go, I don't know if or what he has planned.

This all took place back in 2009 when I was doing some work on the MultiPin project.

That was a gentleman move Greywolf. Perhaps I should have done the same, but going by past results, I would not have received a reply from him.

I feel bad for posting the information to the forum, knowing now, that Chris did not want it released.

I still see no reason to take it out. But who the hell am I?

The lighting had nothing to do with altering his code, so there shouldn't be a problem. It's only lighting, but it makes a world of difference in arcade render.

My take on the whole situation,

1 Thanks Black for what you gave us all with FP and Arcade Render - a stroke of genius.
2 Won`t forget how the ball was taken away and FP forum was just wiped out - goodbye - done
3 Thanks Noah for giving all the refugees (myself included) a new home
4 No surprises with how the update has worked out - only surprise we even get an update
5 VP now rocks biggrin.gif
Just my 2 cents

Rawd, I don't even bother trying to fathom what he does. I have given him suggestions in the past and, much to my surprise, he took them into account. Once I mentioned the permanent logo thing to him, it snapped a nerve and he didn't talk to me for six months. I have no idea where he is or what he's working on right now and with all that's happening in my own life, I don't have the energy to spare to take that much into consideration.

And having seen his posts before closing down the FP fora, I was not terribly optimistic that he was going to release something much different than what we have now. I was hoping for at least a better physics engine, but I think he's pretty much either burnt out or has just lost interest in the project.

Maybe the code grew too much hair and really needs to be rewritten but he doesn't have the impetus to do that so he's going with what works, however that may be. At this point I can say that I totally understand that perspective, as I am faced with something similar in my tables -- they work as they are, but the UI leaves something to be desired in my mind.

Maybe yet someone else will put out yet another pin sim at some point -- don't look at me, my plate's overfull right now, and I do not have that level of programming capability.
