When the grill of the backglass or the VPinMAME DMD is visible or not and you don't like that:

Get into the backglass settings. There are three check boxes at the top of this screen. 'Hide grill' and 'HideDMD' are the interesting ones. Both check boxes can have three states: Empty means grill or DMD is visible, solid black check marker means grill or DMD is hidden, light gray check marker will take the default (for grill the settings of the 'screenres.txt' file, for DMD the .Hidden property of the VP script).

You can not hide the backglass scores for some of the backglasses as the scores are a basic part of the backglass, i.e. PinBot, Elvira and the Party Monsters, ...

Well, the problem I'm having with the new Pinbot and Sorcerer backglasses is that the fake speaker (?) area is visible, occupying about 20% on the bottom of the screen. I understand that the real machines have these too, but on a virtual cabinet, these are really unnecessary, wasting space. The previous versions of these two backglasses didn't have this and were perfect. Now, on a three-screen cabinet the useful screen area is decreased and the image gets squished if you have a widescreen backglass (like most people). On a two-screen cabinet with a 4:3 screen (like mine), it is equally worse-looking since other tables that have the speakers at least have the DMD between them, but these ones use LEDs for score display.

The above settings don't get rid of these fake grills.

Is it somehow possible to use the older versions of the backglasses with the new server? Right now they are not compatible.

I have added the grill to these backglasses to get a better fitting aspect ratio for 2 screen cabs. On a 3 screen cab they are defined as removable. I have absolutely no problem here at my dev PC and my cab to hide or show them with the 'Hide grill' check box. So first goal has to be to get this issue reproducable for me.

Can you please post a screenshot with settings screen visible and the content of your 'screenres.txt' file? Thanks.

Wow. wow, wow,

thank you very much Herweh, what a great work. And also thanks to your betatesters and backglass-creators for the fantastic new backglasses.

No problems yet on my machine with intel 2,2 GHz Duo, 2 GB Ram and old 256 GB ATI X850 PCI-Express Graphicscard.

Because the backglass-designer i'm really excited.

many greetings from Hattstedt, Nordsee, Norddeutschland

I can not get rid of the grill in some new dB2S. Tried the "Hide B2S-DMD" and "Hide Grill" but this does not help. If there is no working solution for that I hope that I'll be able to correct that by using the B2S-Designer?

Can you please post a screenshot with settings screen visible and the content of your 'screenres.txt' file? Thanks.

Sorcerer works. First there was a grey area where the grill was located, after "Hide B2S-DMD" the backglass-picture was fullscreen without any grill. Exactly the way I expected.

The other ones do not show any reaction on that function.

"Hide Grill" is always on. When I look at any new dB2S backglass, this option is always activated. As the grill is not hidden at all I tried to also "Hide B2S-DMD" which helped at Sorcerer.

Enclosed a photo I made - I hope it is enough. But I left all settings at standard settings. Changed nothing except "Hide B2S-DMD". Restarted the backglass but this also does not change anything...

The screenres.txt:

1920

1080

1280

1024

Where are the settings for each single dB2S stored? Maybe there is a problem there?

First of all forget about the 'Hide B2S DMD' check box right now. We just need 'Hide grill'.

I have marked two zeros above. These are the 0's to set the 'LED Display X Offset' and 'LED Display Y Offset'. You have set both to 0 and that means grill is visible by default. This is the standard setting for a 2 screen cab.

I can not identify exactly the setting of the 'Hide grill' check box by your screenshot but it looks like your setting is the light-gray marker. Please click that check box a few times. This is a threestate check box. You need an absolutely dark and solid check box marker. Save your settings, restart and I'm sure the grill is gone.

(Threestate: Empty means grill is visible, solid black check marker means grill is hidden, light gray check marker will take the 'screenres.txt' setting).

Just to balance out the people having issues I had no problem overwriting my old beta B2S files and getting everything up and running. B2S is a huge improvement over UVP for me since I have an LED-Wiz, so very excited to see the enthusiasm this is generating. Wonderful addition to the community.

Much thanks to everyone who did UVP work too, I don't want to sound ungrateful at all for all the time and effort. :)

You were right!

After looking very very very close I noticed that the check mark was grey. Man, this is really hard to differentiate!!! Can't you make it another color than grey?

Now all is working well! Thank you!

By the way - I never understood what exactely to enter at 'LED Display X Offset' and 'LED Display Y Offset'. Can you tell me what to set for my config?

Herweh, thank you very much for the tip about the grayed-out checkboxes to hide the grill. I would have not thought of those being active, since usually such a grayed-out field means it cannot be changed, so I didn't click on them.

After setting all three checkboxes to solid black, the speaker grill disappeared and everything looks perfect.

Thanks again for this great new tool.

Have you played my Taxi backglass? This is using a 'B2S DMD', a second screen (beside the backglass) to show the LEDs. This window is integrated in the backglass on a 2 screen setup. And on a 3 screen setup you can put it whereever you want to have it. But of course you have to declare where to put it. And this can be done with these two settings, 'LED Display X Offset' and 'LED Display Y Offset'.

As I mentioned setting these both values to 0 means 2 screen setup, grill visible and maybe existing B2S DMD integrated in the backglass. Set one of these values larger than 0 and your B2S DMD is a standalone window in a 3 screen setup and gets to these offset coordinates (these offset values starts in the upper left corner of the backglass). Just try it, start with Sorcerer or PinBot with a value of maybe 200 for X and 100 for Y and see what happens. Both backglasses have got in version 1.0 an image for the third monitor. Stop the table and change the offset values. Locate it to your third monitor.

Herweh, thank you very much for the tip about the grayed-out checkboxes to hide the grill. I would have not thought of those being active, since usually such a grayed-out field means it cannot be changed, so I didn't click on them.

Great. I think I have to realize that this threestate check box is not as intuitive as it should be. Maybe I will change this to another control in the settings screen in a next version of the server (but hopefully this will take a few weeks to do this).

Hey guys,

Just checkin' in to see if anyone else with similar issues to myself have surfaced, but I see noone yet.

To answer Clark, Yes i have installed intot the correct directories, yes, the server registered correctly for me, yes it loaded great, yes, i see the S menu and can change things, No, I have had no improvement :)

The weird thing is that the issue i am having is amost identical to the issue i sometimes have when UVP is NOT loaded. What i mean is, sometimes if i load just the table it will stutter, but as soon as a controller is available (UVP, etc..) it is smooth as silk.

So what i am experiencing is as i don't have any controller running, so the PF stutters. The BG runs smooth as silk however :)

Maybe i can just convert the cab to a art backglass display unit that cycles- ha ha.

Anyways, i will try unistalling everything again later and re-installing, but i cannot see anything in the steps that i didn't do in order correctly.

btw- I have 2 folders. I have a table folder for my desktop taBLES, AND THEN A SUB-FOLDER  called Cabs where i keep only FS tables. I followed your instructions to install to the TABLE folder. SHould I have perhaps installed to the Cab folder. If so, this should be spelled out for Cab users who organize their systems.

Cheers,

Maceman

OK! Now I understand.

By the way - T2 and Gorgar backglass is also not working anymore. I hope there will be an update soon...

All the files need to be in your tables folder. If the CAB folder is your tables folder, dump them in there, register the dll and try it.

Most people have 1 tables folder. It never occurred to me to split the folders for cab releases, though it makes sense for file mgmt!

This maybe explains why the EXE mode isn't able to find the backglass file. I haven't tested a configuration like this so far, I would prefer to put the server files into the CAB folder.

Are Rosve's backglasses running fine at your cab? And what's with the preview backglasses, were they running without stutter?

There is no way i want to dump all my cab files into my desktop table folder ??

That was the whole reason i keep them seperate. Are you saying noone else does this?? My goodness. I would hate to see your systems clutter- ha ha. You must have 2000 files in one directory :)

No, there must be a workaround. I want to keep files seperate. I keep copies of everything and sorted.

I will try to uninstall and re-install everything to the cab folder and i will report back later on :)

All Rosve's B2S's run GREAT.  I never tried any preview BG's yet. I just tried the one's uploaded yesterday.

Cheers,

Maceman

Mace, have you checked the color depth setting of Windows of your backglass monitor?

I can not test Taxi for the LEDs on 3rd monitor as there is no new version of the dB2S backglass.

I still noticed the problem with "Elvira and the party monsters" when using the EXE of dB2S - a lot of double LED letters. But without EXE ball stutters...

Because of that I wrote to start with Sorcerer or PinBot to do some 'screenres.txt' tests ;)

Hello, I had problems on the Elvira table too with wierd letters and numbers showing up. I set 'EXE' mode then enabled Dream 7 leds and the problem went away. Worth a shot? Maybe only enabling dream 7 leds might work for you as you seem to have trouble with exe mode.

Mace, I have a B2S FS table folder, a FS table folder, a B2S widescreen table folder where the tables are widescreen, but still have a working backglass, a One Monitor table folder for just storing rotated tables in that I haven't added backglass support to, a widescreen table folder and a few other folderss all in my tables folder. My normal tables folder has demos and old tables and WIP, etc in it and is a mess, since it was created in 2001. Keeping certain types of tables in a folder is great for frontends, like in VPMan, I can just point to one folder and then even my 6 yr old grandson can pick and choose tables from it by looking at screenshots to play and they will all be the same format.

Hi Guys,

Home now and cab is booted!!

@H- yes sir, first thing i did was switched to 32 bit as i had use 16 bit for the BG up to this point. I did this befre installing

@B- Great to know! Good confirmation that it works. So Bob, did you install to the tables folder root, even though you have the other folders?

I am wondering if i should try uninstalling everything now that i am up, and trying to the cab folder anyways?

I installed the db2s in its own folder with the tables I am using it on in there. I only do this to keep some sort of order to my tables folder as I have so many variations of the tables and the way I play them. I don't use a dedicated setup just to play VP, this is all done on the same pc and monitors that I use for everything, even FP. :)
