The problem is vpinmame. Use version 3.5 for this table. As I wrote, I have 2 computers, one works fine with the latest 3.6, but the other doesn't work, the lights stop working after 1 second or so. I'll do some more tests and I'll post an issue at github.

After a lot of testing different versions, adding a dedicated led timer instead of the LampCallback, th only thing that got the lights working was to replace the vpinmame.dll with the version 3.5. So, the problem is with vpinmame 3.6.

So, to all who have problems with the table, just copy the vpinamme.dll version 3.5 to your vpinmame folder and when the table is finished just copy back the version you are using now. There is no need to run setup.exe, just copy/paste and it works.

Thank you so much JP!  I've been going crazy trying to figure this out...

I have done some tests and the latest vpinmame 3.6 working is the version from Jan 3:

Release v3.6-720-e4df859 · vpinball/pinmame

The next version doesn't work anymore.

I'll post now an issue to the pinmame github.

To all of you having problems with the latest vpinmame 3.6 beta, try updating to the latest C++ runtimes, from here: Latest Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Nov 2024 Download | TechPowerUp

That did the trick on my portable computer :)

Edit: I'm using the latest vpinmame from here: add Lightning (Free Play & MOD rev. 27), part of #385 · vpinball/pinmame@3f10196

Today I tried the latest VPX8 10.8.1, and somehow it provoked the error. Yes! Now I can search for the bug again! :D

After some registry editing and deleting some cache files I found out that the problem is the VPinballX.ini in the %appdata%\VPinballX

Something is written to the vpinball.ini that makes this rom stop updating the lights. I have spared the bad VPinballX.ini so it is very easy to reproduce, just by copying the bad ini file. I have searched for the changes, but I couldn't find where the problem is.

Anyway, if you have the problem, the easiest way to fix it is to quit VPX, go to the %appdata%\VPinballX and delete the VPinballX.ini. Start VPX8 again, go to the preferences, Video Options, and set your options. And that's all.

Attached File  vpinball_ini.zip   12.26KB   7 downloads

I have added the zip file with the good and the bad ini file, just for fun, if any of you want to check them. You don't need them to fix the problem, as deleting the old ini will do to fix the bug.

Still I have a lot of questions, why the vpinmame from January the 3rd 2024 worked, and the rest didn't. when the problem seems to be in that ini file (!?). At least there is a solution to the problem :) And also it is possible to reproduce the error :) I have informed vbousquet.

Deleting the VPinballX.ini and clearing the Cache made no difference for me. Flashers still won't work properly.
Using freneticamnesic WPT and I'm currently on vpx 10.8.0 rev. 2049 64bit and vpinmame 3.6.0.1213 64 bit.

Flashers has always worked for me, the problem with the rom has been the light inserts stopping working after a few seconds, freezing completely. I haven't tried frenesicamnesic WPT table, so I can't say how the flashers are built.

Edit: I have not found freneticamnesic's table, but I guess Bigus MOD is based on that table. I guess the table was on vpinball. But the BIGUS table does not use "normal" flashers, and the script is incredibly complicated, and in my opinion it is a miracle that it works at all :) So definitively if the flashers don't work as supposed, it is a problem with that table, and not a general problem in VPX or vpinmame.

So basically some weird hacking in the script was done just to get the WPT tables to work.
Makes sense why some old tables break while vpx and vpinmame continue to improve.

Tried what you said JP & no luck. Lights lock up after a second or so. Tried on your newest table as well as frens, bigus mod table. Up to date on everything. :(

Anyway, at least I can reproduce the error of the lights freezing by changing the ini file. I have sent it to vbousquet, so he will test it.

I use a "workaround"
Using Jarr3's excellent vpx.starter (as of course ALWAYS) and .pre/.post CMD to switch to and use of the older vpinmame64.dll - just for this table.
Works like a charme

Yes, that's also a solution :)

Just as a note: I did a reinstall of Windows on both my machines, wiping out the disk, and the table worked on both machines, using the same Windows as before and the same VPX8 and vpinmame (the latest ones), That made me think it is not VPX8 or vpinmame itself, but something that gets changed. After doing some tests,  I can reproduce the error now, just by copying the wrong VPinballX.ini. There aren't many changes in the ini file, but the old one doesn't work with this table, and the new one does.

From the GitHib error report, Soundequ wrote:

I'm a total dope without fancy tools, but using your working .ini.good and my own bad .ini I did some section for section and then line for line brute force-y (copy/overwrite) checking and narrowed it down (at least for me?) to a B2S problem.

Controller preferences section (line 354 on your file)
ForceDisableB2S = 1 -- insert lights continue.
...but turn that off (0) and they die after a couple seconds as reported.

Much as I like this table, obviously I don't want to disable B2S for every other table.
Thanks to you (all) for doing 99.99(repeating)% of the work!

So, now it is easy to reproduce :) The lights stop if you have enabled the B2s, and they work if you disable the B2s :) Now I guess vbousquet has enough info to try to fix the error, which I guess is in the vpinmame build :)

World Poker Tour

World Joker Tour

maybe it depends on the b2s server version ?

i use

b2s-server 2.5.0.321 x64

vpx 10.8.0.2049 x64

vpinmame 3.6.0.1211 x64

I though I was using the latest B2S server, version 2.1.2. And the error still happens with this version.
