We do not have the Z axis adjustment for the lights, but the height of the halo is adjustable "Halo Height".

Try to assign plastics an active material as I said above,

Material Manager, frame of opacity, the amount of opacity has a value of 0.9999 and the "Active" checkbox checked.

Yup, did that, early on for all my plastics... helped, but maybe in this case I need to make it a bit more translucent ?

Right I had to re-read the previous thread, it was the "Static Mesh" I thought I had to do that only for animation of the texture on the bumper, didn't know it was for the lighting as well... :db:

Might want to bump the opacity on your plastics to .99999. At .99 you can often still see through them when lit from underneath.

Table has been uploaded, I checked it on my 4K (Almost Cab) and it looks good textures hold up, but ultimately that's up to you, feel free to point out any blurry textures or things you find that could be better.

At THIS point it's a "Beta" as in there are things that are still wrong with it, but I told someone I'd try and put out a beta as soon as possible, and then I'd go back and nit pick, before I'd double check all my plastics were at the right height by re-exporting the obj, and making adjustments in VP, but that was VERY time consuming, and I wanted to get all the plastics in, which happened tonight, I will probably let this sit, and gather a couple of comments, then create my own list and try and get to 1.0 by next weekend.

It's submitted as soon as it's approved I'll post a link to that posting.

For now here's a screenshot : Attached File  PhantomOfTheOperaTable.jpg   253.06KB   10 downloads

And good night ! :D

Oh I forgot, I also downloaded the Plastics from this site, and they were fairly low res. Being a "Knowledgeable" Guy in certain fields, I loaded up a Machine Learning Algorithm that allows you to scale things up without getting things blurry, so I tried it on the Plastics and here's the result...

Original

attachicon.gif Orig_POTO_ Plastics.png

Machine Learning Up-Res

attachicon.gif ML_POTO_ Plastics.png

You can see the text and detail is quite a bit better, and the resolution of the image I have is 4X larger, which should make for better coverage and less blurriness when I create the plastics.

Nice, I've seen various python scripts for upscaling with machine learning, what tool did you use for it?

Edit: I'm guessing you used ESGRAN ( https://github.com/xinntao/ESRGANI )? know Nvidia is working on a tool as well that is currently in beta: https://developer.nvidia.com/gwmt

I tried a couple of free ones, but they wanted to get access to my data or send who knows what my way or had a limited number of free uses, I looked at topaz and did a trial, I intend to buy it for $99 it belongs in my toolbox, for this and all kinds of otther solutions where I have only a small image and I need a larger one like for making the side art for my cab...

So I used Topaz Gigapixel.

On that topic, a tip for people building these tables, and keep them efficient. I build ALL my textures as power of 2

512x512, 1024x1024, etc... with the playfield I just noticed some of the pictures must have been sourced from a lower resolution, and then traced or modified, as some of the fonts are really great and then the art in the background not so much. So I ran topaz over it again, to up-res the playfield,, and then bring it down to 4096x2048 even if it's not square, it should be power of 2. And then update my local VPX, and this is the difference :

Attached File  UpResDownRes.png   457.85KB   6 downloads

Left side is the texture exported from the table as of version 0.9 | Right is run through Topaz

That's a great improvement sharpness wise, most noticable with that blond hair.

Huge difference, machine learning is pretty cool, I imagine one can retrofit a lot of table graphics with this technique.

My thoughts exactly, it may not be as good as scanning 4K at 300 dpi, or something, but flat bed scanners at the scale you'd need aren't that popular anymore, and if we can use what we already have and get 4K Res out of it, then that may be a better way.

There are several areas that stood out to me the Candles, are much clearer, and the blue texture behind the Phantom is almost lost, and is recovered by the ML System. The same thing struck me on the table, that the colored lights always have this diffusion of either ribs, or pyramids to increase light dispersion and hide the bulb below... and that texture came back, and looks a lot better than the original.

From what I understand he uploaded it two days ago here, but for whatever reason it hasn’t been accepted by the moderators yet.

Hi All!

I've already downloaded from vpuniverse: (very nice work!)

https://youtu.be/2XuFGxBw9G8

LoL, this is a more recent version as well, this has the Up-Res of the table image, and a the light in the Organ that RobWaade reported he saw on the original, and I looked at the youtube videos and found. I couldn't get enough frames of it to really determine a pattern, but it didn't seem rythmic so I added some randomness to it. It's cool to see it in that mode.

I had coded it strictly in Table Mode, as that is how I intended to use it, and it was one of those, "I have to go back and look at it in that mode", I'm glad not all my plastics are misaligned :D

I did see the plunger graphic floating a bit, so I'll fix some of those before I call it 1.0, thanks for the render Ivantba :D

I don't know what happened, but I uploaded the table on Tuesday/Wednesday evening and I haven't seen it posted, I asked if it got stuck or if the upload was corrupted, I haven't heard anything back other than from STAT who said it could take a while, I wanted to stay loyal to this board, since they're spending on bandwidth and stuff for the images and the thread, but at some point I needed feedback, and I posted it over there to see if it would hit the same snag... and something wasn't functioning with the table on other machines..

Thanks for this table, I downloaded the version posted on the other site. On my copy the 3 ball multiball does not work. i shoot 2 balls locked into the organ and the table gets ready for 3 ball multiball but third ball never goes to the plunger.

Hello DCrosby! Thanks for your response. It was a great table. If you reach version 1.0 you will definitely be even better :) I was surprised that it was already available for download, so I quickly made a nice gameplay video:) Congratulations!

Hey DCrosby, great release (downloaded at the other site).

For me the FX and call outs are loud enough, but the organ and music is almost not hearable. Guess it has to do with "sound tuning" you mentioned in the description, but I confess, I didn't get it - lol. Can you please elaborate more, when to press the tilde and what happens and needs to be done then?

Nice table and good job ! Thank you to all people involved !  :otvclap:

I have the same problem than Vogliadicane with the sound.

I've read the 2 posts by @Kiwi about how to solve that, but I probably missed something, because it doesn't work.

First, I changed the line 146 in the script to  .Hidden = 0, but it changes nothing on the DMD (I play with a 2-screen system), I can't see the "reel" DMD.

So, when I click on the only DMD I can see on my BG,and press the tilde key ~ , it just freezes the writings, that's all.

What did I missed ?

Ah, and the tilde key in on the RIGHT of the "1" key, not on the left...
