Never heard of that issue before..  :/  Very very weird.. Can you please a make a screenshot of the 'Help->About' dialogue? Just to be sure which version that is? Thanks!

Hi,

Yes I can open VPinballX.exe and that option to untick does not exist under Preferences anywhere...

Version 10.0 Final (Revision 2461)

This was installed using the all in one installer on this website...now I'm wondering if 10.5 wasn't included in the all in one installer.  I'll try to locate the 10.5 separately.

Perhaps you need to try the 10.5 All-In-One Installer.

Find here..

https://www.vpforums...&showfile=11573

When you click to download it, there will be several older versions available.

You want to download the "VPX5setup.zip" file. (As seen in pic)

All the other ones are older versions, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4. You want 10.5.

Hope this helps you.

Sounds like VPX didn't get set up in PinballX.

Apologies for necroing the post but I'm the OP - I gave up trying to resolve back in 2018 but find it works fine with the current all-in-one installer. Must've been an issue with the particular build at that time.

I don't see my prior post, if it shows up I found the solution.  The VPX installer dodn't have the most current VPX.exe in it.   DL'd it and all problems disappeared.

Hello friends, how are you? The same problem happens to me, someone found the solution? It opens the tables from visual pinball without problems but when I open it from pinball x I get the same error, Visual pinball cannot load a file of that version

Hi all,

I have the exact same issue as above has anyone resolved it?

I have tried the installer option 3 times and the latest stand alone and the only thing I can get to work is the Adams Family table but none of the other .VPX tables work they all come up with the same message.

Thanks

Same weird issue here with a clean Visual Pinball X install.

Might be linked with the fact that I have another install elsewhere for VR, though it sounds unlikely.

D:\Jeux\Pinball\Visual Pinball => does not want to open VPX files, version error popup

D:\Jeux\Pinball\VR Visual Pinball => works fine but is setup for VR

HA !

Edit : ... well yeah, this package is outdated. Just took the EXE file from my VR setup and it worked...

EDIT few hours later : please ignore, I downloaded an old package, sorry

I guess you know there is a new version of the VPX installation? It is just a couple of days old :):

The latest version is the one named VPX7setup.zip

The question about playing .vpt files was never answered..it quickly escalated to about running.vpx files.

But I wanna play RAMBO and its a. vpt file...so everytime I load in VPX PINBALL PLAYER i get script errors.

Line: 125
Variable not defined: 'vpmInit'

Line: 198
Variable not defined: 'Controller'
and then VPX PINBALL PLAYER return to loading screen for loading tables.

What should I use for playing .vpt files ?

This:

https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=8792 (pick VPinball995b_Minimal.zip)

Just copy only(!!!!) the .exe file into your VPX directory, thats it. And then use that one for .vpt files. Done.

Yo I dunno if anyone ever finds this issue again but my fix was I didn't realize the installers were labeled kinda weird.  Don't pick the bottom one, it's not the latest version.  Pick the vpx version with the biggest number after it.  That might be your issue.

10's of 1000's of rubbish experts aparently

since a massive amount of people are using it, and many of them with no real computer expertise.
