This guy has pretty damn good MAME vector game settings. He has a link to his HLSL settings too (in the video information). I have to try them.

Edit: I couldn't get 'em working. Got just black screen when I replaced vector.fx file in \hlsl folder. I have older MAME... maybe something was changed (besides the normal 2000 roms and CHD's) between 0.149 and 0.17, huh? :D

Yeah, you'll very likely need one of the newer MAME builds that supports HLSL in order to use that file.

I have 0.149 which has full HLSL support. But something might have changed in the code after that. No idea.

I was going to update my MAME but found out that very few significant games were added after 0.149 (if any). They also dropped the highscore.dat support which is a major bummer. I guess some frontends still support it though... but it's not worth the hassle... 0.149 has all games I ever wanted (and 3000 more). :D

Ensure your mame video setting is changed from auto to D3D:

http://forum.arcadec...?topic=143972.0

IMHO, those are not great vector settings in that video (he admits he doesn't have experience with vector games) but the video does portray what HSLS can do for vector games in mame for sure

Track and Field, Pole Position II and Xevious.

Great classics.

Have you completed Seaside and Suzuka on Pole Position II?

Nasty, difficult tracks.

The weekend saw new high scores on Truxton and Gyrus, then I just made a joke of myself with Space Invaders just for laughs.

Unfortunately not. They're difficult as you said. They always end in a CRASH BOOM BANG! And time runs out.

I completed both on the arcade game. Suzuka and Seaside have very quick turns and the steering wheel was superior in those tracks.

Everyone is ALWAYS too busy for those competitions. :D There's a better alternative... go and break these high scores in the actual MAME arcade. Lots of good players there.

http://www.retroupri...ct=Arcade&cat=1

What makes this place different is that you can redefine keys from the actual MAME menu (with TAB button).

That used to be much busier place though.

Great scores on Mr. Do's Castle and others too.

I have one digit more on my Xevious high score though. :D

No, there is no "Mr. Do's Castle" Screen ... it's the normal Mr. Do, and my 2nd Universal Game here is "Jumping Jack"

Both i played in about 1984 in our local Bars / Restaurants, also a great Place with 4 or 5 Arcades was our Petrol Station very Close to me ... i miss that Time !

My absolute favourite is Moonpatrol!

I love the catchy music as well, check out this rock version for the real die hards: https://youtu.be/OQzQLgqDQgg

Hmm...    Another great idea for a new thread: (rock)music versions of classic arcade of pinball music :)

fx BK2000: https://youtu.be/jUEPBqrUzdc

and back on topic: runner up Mappy and #3 Gyruss.

Can't remember, but doesn't MAME allow for saving and loading states?

Maybe I am confusing it with another emulator, but this helped me to conquer many games that in the past, I had no chance of getting to end credits screen.

(Or maybe I just added more credits and continued?)

Any way, you all might have noticed STATs Donkey Kong 2 bezel in background of his screen shots?

Well for those who maybe want to try it out..find here....

http://www.vpforums....067#entry335679

I think I am the only one who downloaded his bezel?

Thanks again STAT!!

Yes i think you can save and load States, but i never used this, i can't do a "Continue",
yes i did on Dungeons and Dragons Games, on some others where i want to see a bit more, but never on the Classics ;)
I also never cheated on PC/Console Games!
