From a physics perspective VP9 is better, from a graphics perspective VP9 is also better so IMO overall VP9 is better. I however like VP8 as well and with Front-ends like VP-Man you can enjoy both without any hassle at all. So for me it's ridiculous for someone to say(as a player) that I'll stick to one version over the other, especially when you can tell the VP-Man front-end what version of VP to launch when a game is selected.

That´s it! wink.gif cool.gif
One folder for VP8 tables, another one for Vp9 tables, together with all the other pinball folders.
Tee .exe files renamed Vp8 & VP9.
Using Vp-man, it´s little work to set the individual table setting correctly, but then it´s just pure fun!
Once again a BIIIIG thank you to ALL the people who make this possible & available for free! clapping.gif clapping.gif clapping.gif

You have assumed wrong, I installed vpinmame_ 21.and have
everything in 1 Folder containing both .exe files to load 8 or 9.
But the 9 tables have too many flaws to search for fixes.
VP8 usually works every time if I have the
RIGHT ROM.I have a good link now for them.

Does rom mean "Read Only Memory" ?

Mmm, guys

I've got installed VP6, 7, 8 in various forms and 9! So what's the problem?

The .exes are in the main folder with shortcuts to the start menus. I keep tables specific to the .vbs files, so I've very old VP6 2.34 tables up to modern VP9 3.29 tables as separate folders in a tables folder. That way any VP table out there is playable.

As to what's best, it's the VP that plays a particular table!

VP Released Tables

Attack From Mars, Batman, Cirqus Voltaire (Fuseball), Corvette, Cue Ball Wizard, NBA Fastbreak, No Fear (Germax), Judge Dredd (aurian), JunkYard, Indiana Jones (Redux), Medieval Madness (macho), SafeCracker, Star Trek: The Next Generation (Destruk), Tales of the Arabian Nights (At Night), The Shadow, The Sopranos, The Simpsons Pinball Party, The Who's Tommy, Theatre of Magic (At Night).

Thats right 1 foler for all versions of roms etc.EG: I have over 500 roms
But less then 100 tables.Someday i might need them,but the Forum`
has them all A to Z.But i feel all VP9 roms aren't uploaded,so it's impossible
to play these tables, not to mention a new Script update.I have scripts160.zip
IS THERE NEWER FOR VP9 ? I get script errors a lot.

In the beginning of VP9, everytime I had problems, it was because I, or my front ent was launching the table with the wrong version of VP ! wink.gif

I personally have all VP8 and VP9 tables all under one folder with the newest VBS script files in that folder. I then under VP-Man using set launching options set the table to run either VP8 named Vpinball.exe or VP9 named Vpinball 9.exe. Then when I go and play a table it launches the corresponding Visual Pinball version. No hassle no headache no problems. I can enjoy VP8 tables and VP9 tables and FP tables for that matter quite easily. I again cant understand why anyone would ignore either version when both can be enjoyed with ease using a front-end like VP-Man.

I seem to be doing it without it somehow with vpimmame_21.
But i do a good job of dowloading what VP needs.
Why not tell us where.I might try it.But will it improve the noisy, loud
and scratchy sound of VP9 ? Someone lately has blamed my System.
I beg to differ,I have a more then adequite Desktop PC.

Try setting sound as a factor of 8000 in VPinMAME!

Latest Stern's use 64000, late Bally/Williams with DCSound use 32000, earlier SS pins use 16000 and early EM pinballs 8000. But with fast computers I use 64000, generally, but reduce volume in the ROMs by 10% of the maximum. (The sampling rates are those used in the original ROMs and decoders in the real pinball machines.)

I'm assuming scratchy sound is limited to VP/VPinMAME.

VP-9 would be perfect IF the overlaping reel(s) issue could be resolved...

I've used 32000 for many years.I matched it to my Sound Blaster cards.
I don't blame that.I get good stereo sound now that i'm useing
Headphones with all.Even early VP.

And if ATI compatibility were resolved. Those new ATI cards are nice.

Just a small comment: that reel issue is fixed in VP912, in case someone is wondering.
Latest ATi cards work very well with VP912.

Maybe I don't need to say that I use mostly VP912 smile.gif
