The always-on-top app will work for all versions of VP including 10.5.

Kaan's method has a problem of working with the new controller method, but can be used if controller script method is modified back to old controller script method.

Here you will find 2 tables converted to use Kaan's method. (Backglass automatically stays on top.)

These 2 tables were made before the new Controller VBS method was implemented.

So I was able to convert them to use Kaan's method.

Hello boys... i have a inversed problems whit a vpx tables. It's Last Action Hero 1.07.

 

It's request a directb2s files but apparently there's no files attached to the .vpx and you can't play this flipper.

 

I have download one backgrass from section......... put same name and try to run it. The flipper start whitout any errors but the backgrass remain in background...... damn.

 

I have another question about backgrass......... i have a lot of tables and someone have him backgrass files. I can create every screenres for every different tables ??

 

For example i have "The Addams family".. there's present 2 mod whit two different backgrass........ i can create 2 different screenres for each tables ??? Or i need to put every tables need a backgrass files to a separate folder ??

I have tryed to modified manually the script... i have add the line:

dim b2son
b2son = 1 'set to 0 to turn off b2s

Set apprun = CreateObject("wscript.shell")

At very begin.....

 

Apparently the b2son it's not works......... i set to 0 and b2s it's opened anyway.

 

I have also add the line to run b2s... apparently it's not works. Damn.

No, in Last action hero there is no need to modify the scripts.
Apart from some exceptions where you need to modify the scripts,

in VPX the backglass is enabled in the "Keys, Nudge and DOF" preferences, in the lower right corner there is the "Disable B2S" checkbox.

yes i see but this disable B2S for all tables.... there's not a single tables option. The problems it's apparently this "Last Action hero" as no B2S but it's request anyway........

On VP X Recreation......... i have found another tables request the B2S files but apparently the files it's not avaible as attach on original zip tables........... because i obtain this request ??

By "request", do you mean that the backglass not found message appears?
It is normal that the message appears if the backglass is enabled in the options but is not present in the tables folder.

 
In this way the backglass can be excluded even if it is enabled in the VP options.
Search in scripts:
 

LoadVPM

and below add
 

Set Controller = CreateObject ("VPinMame.Controller")

 
You can also do the opposite, enable the backglass even if not enabled in the options.
Add under LoadVPM
 

Set Controller = CreateObject ("b2s.server")

These look nice.  On FP, I turn my monitor on its side 90 degrees (it has a swivel mount) and catch the bottom of the backglass at the top so I can see the DMD.  Check out the screenshot of TZ at the link above.  The screenshot is called rotated; the forth in the list at the bottom of the page.

FP unfortunately wont do what i showed above i do not think

could be, in PUP, since it does not use the fp translite

in FP, since it is so easy to do, i usually wind up just putting in some HUD displays if the table has none.
Even with BAM that are certain aspects to FP that you just cant manipulate to make a single screen setup that matches what you can make VPX do.

 

I think PUP will let you literally put PUP windows any place, at any size, but i dont have PUP to try it and see.

Hello , although I only registered like a couple of days ago ... I was working on my arcade setup and always wanted to add more pinball emulation (I only had pinball fx3 set up )  .... so a few weeks ago I started my journey here by checking out threads and vids on youtube .. and I have to say the forum was really helpful to get things done fast ... and since I have a one monitor setup because my dream cab that I'm working on will run everything not just pinball  .. so having the machine/back-glass/dmd on one screen is definitely something I really wanted ..

and it seems like the new changes in VP made it much harder to get that effect ... but I found an app that would bring the db2s window on top and it will save it even if u close the app .. when u start it up again all settings r saved .. it's perfect for me since I want an automated effect that I can use with my frontend/launcher ... so all I need is to add the db2s window and through an ahk I can just control everything .. open the app before launching a table and make sure the window and app exit when I close the table.

 

the app is called DeskPins and and it has win 10 support  .. and anyone can easily find it though a quick google search ...

install and run it ... all u need to do is right click on the taskbar icon and choose options ... then click on the "autopin" tab  .. check enable ...and add a new one

for name choose anything u like ... as for title and class .. open a table in VP with back-glass ..and alt+tab to the back-glass window ... then drag the sort of crosshair like icon next to title and class fields to the back-glass window and it will auto-fill them .. apply and save and that's all  ..now if you start a table with back-glass it will capture it and force it to be on top.

I tested on a few tables and they all worked fine.. Hopefully that might be helpful for anyone who wants to get it done real fast and I think it looks nice ... maybe later on I would set things up to run with pup packs but for now I'm happy with this .

VPX does not require any 3rd party apps to do this
 
This is VPX with nothing but VPX, B2S, FlexDMD and DMDExtensions
So just the normal VPX setup

it's true using ur method it does work  (I tested it)... but I wanted the pinball machines to be centered in the middle and i just wanted the normal back-glass and dmd showing on top ... just a simple setup that works with tables that i set with back-glass .. and since I have a lot of tables that already have a great backdrop with lights and dmd integrated in desktop mode .. so it's better for me that way since I don't need to alter the video settings in VPX/change windows bg  etc..  to get it to look that way ... just a simple app I set once and that is all .

 

and in the future I'm thinking of setting things up to work with pups ... but idk I sort of feel it's an overkill for desktop mode ... but who knows maybe after i finish my main cab I would start working on a pinball only cab with 3 screens.

I've been desperately trying to get the VPW Transporter the Rescue (1.05) vpx and Wildman's b2s to work together and this DeskPins does work, thanks @retrofan2022. It works the same as the old auto hotkey "alwaysontop" but without the need to set backwards compatibly. Ultimately I would MUCH prefer if @xenonph method worked but on this game it just refuses. With DeskPins I still need to alt-tab after starting the table and bring up the glass and then ctrl-F12 to pin it. It would be great if it automated but this will do for now

Thanks for all the help offline @xenonph! The two biggest fixes were adding the script changes in exactly to right locations and ONLY having those 4 files in the separate folder for that game table. Works perfectly now!

I'm glad to see this topic, hope someone will chime in & help me. I am trying to get the B2S to work on the newest table by bord, Skyway which is an EM table. I have been trying off & on for two days to get the backglass to work and no luck at all. Any ideas?

For some reason when I run Skyway table in DT mode with B2S enabled, it shows an error and table never starts.

This is without modifying anything.

I renamed my user folder and low and behold the error is gone, and the backglass shows.

So it is something to do with settings being stored in User folder. Because when user folder is gone or renamed, the error diappears, and backglass loads properly.

I would notify Bord about this, as maybe it is something easy he can fix for us DT users to be able to run the dB2S backglass that comes with the table.
