Very nice for me!

I am having a litlte issue with the analog plunger, if I pull back at first, the impulse acts normal, but if I increase the distance the impulse starts to decrease to a point where if increases but since passing the skill shot by far

In gold edition work fine for me.

maybe ask 85vett to  help with it ;-)

Um... uh...

I'll check the difference between the gold table and this one. I didn't make any change to the analog plunger settings, so if it works better in the gold version, then that must be something sliderpoint adjusted. Oh, and I don't have an analog plunger to test...

I have a question to those who have a real TAF or have recent experience playing the real table. I cannot remember how easy it was to make the skill shot with the plunger. On this version it is very easy to do but I don't believe it was this simple on the real thing. I'm working on a few adjustments, among them trying to make the table a little more challenging. I got to a point where the skill shot is not at all as easy as on this one and often it seems it will make the kicker hole but then in the last second it bounces off some peg, missing the hole. Is it also similar on the real table, i.e. the skill shot requires a very accurate pull? Or is it rather easy like in the current VP version?

I remember, with a little practice in the particular pinball (because not all taf pinball have the same response in plunger, for use and others...) i had 60-70 % skill shots....if not more....

The default breakover velocity of the plunger object of 18 might be too high.  Select the plunger object on the table layout view and set it to 5 and see how that works for hitting the skillshot.

Todd.

For those who may not know, Thing Flips is ROM controlled, and it learns (so it's nothing htamas has to code).  According to the manual, even after learning, which takes "HUNDREDS" of shots, it still only makes the shot 50~60% of the time; which is "...serveral times better than the best players are able to achieve."  So if you have a new or reset ROM, it will probably miss a bunch.  Also, according to the manual you can:

  • throw the ball up the Super Jackpot ramp 4 times (you can do this with the debug window throw ball function)
  • trigger the Lite Thing Flips
  • Throw the ball up the center ramp
  • Thing should auto flip
  • Repeat at least 30 times

I'm assuming this is done outside of a running game.  I remember there's one version of this table on here that someone actually put in kickers and programmed a way to automatically do this; you'd just push some function key and balls would start flying around the table.

very nice job on this table. the ball is moving well on this and thing flips, obstacles, etc are working well. I'm having some slight issues with some latency on the flippers...its light but about 200 ms (I get this with some of the newer tables- I use an xarcade controller but it seems consistent if I play using keyboard as well).

I have played quite a few real machines, and not one played the same. All different skill shots but generally I found most easy.

Don't make it too hard. A hard plunge should go to the graveyard bumper and a half plunge should just fall short and fall back down the shooter lane int the kickout.

In between should just pop in or just go to far and roll back past the hole.

I've played 2-3 of them (with a decent amount of experience- HS is about 670,000,000), it isn't too hard of a shot to make. In almost all of the ones I've played, the plunger isn't super strong but felt pretty intuitive.

I've played many (over 10) TAFs and own 1 also.  Skill shot is different on all machines due to the spring strength and wear.  I think I am pretty good with the plunger and I can get a skill shot >75% of the time on a machine that I have played nmore than 1 game on.  I think 75-90 after 2-3 games on a machine.  Its an important shot also in TAF as it can lock 2 balls for ya.  I try and teach people to do it, but they get so excited to play they forget about the skill shot (happens on many games with non pinheads :)

Thank you very much for all the feedback. What I hear makes me feel pretty good about the current state of my changes (which are not too many :)).

The skill shot seems to behave similar to what DedRok_V described and the Thing flip has improved accuracy but it still may miss in some rare case (like once every dozen tries or so).

I increased the table difficulty a little so that the ball is faster and it definitely seems to be more challenging to me but not overly so. I wasn't able to get close to the billion points with the changed table, and that is good in my opinion.

I will test a  little more and upload an update soon.
