Would it be possible to integrate b2s support into vp natively?

Sorry, I'm still learning the lingo. What is b2s?

it's an add-on to show the backglass and scores on a second monitor.

What would be the advantage?

don't think so, it works good like it is, the process is outside of vp which is a good think

I would like to hear from mukuste on this. If the performance would be minimal then I agree.

There are advantages from a user point of view if backglass support is done within the table VPT. We can't always look at it from our point if view, we have to look at it from a new user's POV. anything that can be done automatically and just allows the user to download a table load it in VP and press play is a good thing.

This is not a knock against b2s/db2s, the flexibility is killer and the work is incredible and I have no problem with the status quo.

I'm sorry, I really can't say. I haven't had time to look at B2S. Is it open source? I couldn't find anything.

It would be cool to continue the work manowar started, by making the backglass animations and such an inherent part of VP.

...and then a table like Banzai Run could be made to play like the real thing, i.e. the vertical playfield would be in the backbox :)

I updated the first post with the latest progress. I had quite a lot of time to hack away at this today, so I made good progress on steps 1 and 2 and even got started a bit with step 3.

I again updated the first post with new details on steps 2 and 3. I'm quite happy with how it's going until now. I won't have as much time now as on the weekend of course, but things should keep progressing.

Major milestone: after hacking away at dozens of compiler errors in the most brutal fashion, I can now compile VP under DX9! Furthermore I can start it up and create a table. Starting the player still crashes for various reasons which I'm mostly aware of, so that is expected, but so far so good.
