alas, I have finally reached the point where my lowly machine can no longer handle the goodness. I couldn't run Playboy until they released a new VP build. I can't run the new South Park unless I turn the textures all the way down.  This one runs fine but I have a lot of graphics problems like the flippers stretch as you use them so every animation frame is visible at once as the flipper moves and the Farris wheels are missing their textures.  Got to start saving for a major hardware upgrade!

EDIT: The latest VP release fixed most of the problems but the flippers remain.  I'm assuming this is a limitation of my system but here is a shot of what I am talking about.Attached File  Untitled.png   232.86KB   12 downloads

My system limitations aside, this is an amazing release! Can't wait to play it in all it's glory.

My vote is to keep pushing the envelope, better tables will just have to demand better hardware!

Lol...too dark..too bright...you can't win! Played quite a few games since I made my first glowing report on your work...must say this is not only a beautiful table, but its a tough one. Took me a while to post into the high scoreboard.

Ironically, I just recently put into my cab a Nvidia 660 TI graphics card for $250.

I'm ashamed to say what I had in there before...a 450...yikes.

I'm running very well on my cab now...with no problems.

Yeah I know, that card is on my wish list, as soon as I get some money ahead.

I just hope it solves my issues without needing to get new motherboard and/or CPU, and/or more memory, and/or 64 bit Windows....

...and I'm getting a Virtuapin plunger kit at some point dang it!

Man, I should have been a ball player or rock star, instead of a Firefighter/EMT!

Update: Okay Aaron, you talked me into it, I just pulled the trigger on this http://amzn.com/B00966IREK.

I'll send you the bill on your part of the cost, my wife says you have to pay half! ;)

A heartfelt big thank you to all involved in this. I love all of your creations starting with Cosmic Gunfight and hopefully will not end for a long, long time ;-)

Excellent work as always

Unfortunately too dark for me but congratulations to this amazing work, unbelievable.

thx

Norman

....really?

Yeah, unfortunaltely - i'm really a big fan of original "table art". To me, this is really  ART, so "night mods" or "dark tables" are like buying a picasso and paint it grey. So to me, table art is more important than flashing lights.

I've just played cosmic gunfight, and it's such a waste that the playfield is barely visible. And when you take a look at the number of downloads, "night mods" are way less popular than colorful, regular versions. So the best thing would be a completely black playfield with just 100 flashing lights - that would be AWESOME :thmbdn: :thmbdn: :thmbdn: :thmbdn:  - at least for little kids.

This is just my opinion, and don't get me wrong - the job you guys did is really without words.

thx

Norman

I paired this with the newly released b2s last night and all I can say is WOW! :lusty:

You guys just keep pushing the envelope of what virtual pinball can achieve with each release.

I really am amazed. Keep me the great work.

I hear wha you are saying but you have to admit, playing a real table in many real world conditions is closer to playing what is termed as a night mod, with the art assets darkened as a result, then it being all lit up.

Perhaps some day, day/night effects can be done for all via an improved vp.

We try to create real world experience - which like The Loafer said the art is darkened in real world as a result of the bright bulbs. So Norman is Atlantis too dark for you as well since you stated our Cosmic Gunfight was a waste? I'm asking because our Safe Cracker, Laser War and Embryon are being based off of the same lighting technique I used on Atlantis.

What lighting/GI techniques are you using on the tables you are building?

Sometimes, people choose the wrong words and "waste" was one of those times. As harsh as Norman's opinions are, I do appreciate he took the time to state he thinks you guys did an awesome job, its just not to his preference.

Norman: opinions are never wrong, but... You are wrong ;)

I contacted TAB June 29th 2012 - 11:16 AM to get permission to MOD this table. Over the past year and two months we have been working on this table off and on. We all put in countless hours of our free time on this build and I'm not going to go into all the details. So I guess each as their own as this is most likely the way we are going to build them.

Sorry if you don't like it Norman and feel free to try and build a table on your own... I look foreword to seeing what you can come up with!

To start, it's sad that this whole thing is going in the wrong direction, because actually i'm a really nice guy - so obviously something went wrong.

First of all, there is NO wrong or right when it comes to preferences - so i'm not WRONG

Second, i've NEVER EVER showed any disrespect for all of your work, it's the opposite - i'm VERY VERY VERY grateful for your work and i could never do what you guys can.

Third, your table is NOT a waste, since english is obviously not my native language, it's maybe the wrong expression. What i meant was, that IN MY OPINION darken a playfield that someone else needed a year to create, seems like "wasting" art - TO ME.

And because of "Cosmic Gunfight" and other dark tables, most of these tables have a dark playfield anyway, so why make them even darker?

On the opposite, the latest release of "Indiana Jones"  - one of the most beautiful tables ever released on VP9 - perfect lightning. A night mod of this table will never be so successful.

So to sum it up, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST, THE GREATEST, [Inappropriate content removed] - but to ME (an i'm worthless, you know) at least "seeing" the playfield is more important then a fancy lightshow.

But wait ... you are right ... this IS the most beautiful table ever created ... i must have been out of my mind to think something different. But at least, now i know how the game is played here on the board.

Hail to the Kings

Norman: you took a reaction and came up with a worse reaction. First of all, how would anyone know English is not your first language? No one is saying you must only comment with positives but you chose the word "waste" not them so you can't expect people to just say "oh he MEANT to say a reference to the art" (which even there I don't think I agree with your explanation)

I can't speak for the authors but for me, if I was putting a lot of work in a table, release it as free work, then read that someone doesn't like it on the grounds that I am wasting the art because of my style, then I may not be offended, but I would certainly be irked at the very least and would probably react in kind.

Btw, The "you are wrong" was a joke, note the winking smiley. Opinions are never wrong, but in saying that the way to express an opinion certainly can be wrong, no?

Take care, personally from the way you posted 95% of the message, I suspect you ARE a good guy and are very respectful. Just understand that although it wasn't your intention, it came off the way it did. Also not that although its not the best look for a table for you, and I am sure you are not alone, I think the majority likes this style.

Be well, enjoy the hobby and the community. It's a great community and I suspect you can fit right in very well.
