Remember also to get the high score saving support (MAMEUIFX supports it).

In order to be functional the hiscore.dat RAR package has to be extracted to \dat subfolder.

stupid question: which mameuifx version? 0.149.2?

Yeah... that's the newest build.

@RipleYYY: What do you mean with "vintage feeling"? When the vector and raster games look more genuine with HLSL how does that detract from it?

yep, i like playing Space Invaders with scanlines on the screen !!! ;)

serious, will give a go to this new version of course, even more when i'll decide to really start building my mame-cab

quick comparison using Pacman (recorded it this morning enabling the HLSL in options and disabling it).

First one is with HLSL

Second one is without HLSL

That doesn't like right. There's no scan lines. I gotta find my settings and post them. They make everything look real good in mame.

This is cool. I love Mame and have it on my Wii now as well, but with an old build unfortunately....

Has anyone tried older roms to see if they work with this one?

Very cool. It would be neat to cycle through all the 'Vectrex" type games to see how they look.... Omega Race for example, one of my favourites!

Cheers,

Maceman

Man.. I'm a total noob with Mame.

I've got MameUIFX running and some of my Roms are not available anymore.

Plus I don't have the HLSL option. Does it mean that I need to update my roms to have some compatible with 0.149?

Thanks in advance.

You have to enable HLSL in one of 2 ways - either in the ini file or in the MAMEFXUI option menu. By default it is disabled.

Thanks a lot. I've enabled it in the main options as explained, but nothing is showing up in the Slider controls as in this vid from Lord Hiryu.

OK, I've got a Rom set on the way, and will also make sure that the latest drivers are installed for my card.

Let's see if it will change anything.

Nice cab Grizz BTW :)

those slider settings are listed in the mame.ini in your mame/ini folder. I believe they were removed from the TAB menu from 0.148u1 and up.

0.149 uses new .fx files.

I see... I've tried to edit these values in the .ini folder, but it had no effect. I saw in the link you gave that the drivers could be a cause of problems. I'll update mine and see if there is any change.

You might have to "reset to default" options on MAMEUIFX. Make sure you have this box checked.

Thanks a lot for the help!

I've tried to follow all recommandations but nothing worked. I've then started Mame on my Pincab to test it there and it worked without any problem.

Since the only differences with the two machines are the video card/DirectX pilots, I've tried to update them on the cab..

New problem... I have an error message when updating the nvidia driver, cause the cab is not connected on the Internet... :)

But at least, I could isolate the problem :)

Just to confirm that I could finally make it work. The problem with my config was with a missing . dll (DirectX End User Runtime SDK).

In case someone has the same problem, here is the link I've used: http://www.mameworld...=&Number=255593

Thanks a lot for the original post, I'm rediscovering my old games with these HLSL settings!!

Cheers!

Do you have to use MAMEUIFX or can you use MameUI as well?

Got my arcade cab working: yay!
Can't fit in my low profile "ok" video card : boo!

Looks like I won't be able to run this on the cab, i doubt the single core CPU and the lack of a dedicated GPU will work.
