You need to remove the Id tags. I used rips from my own CDs, renamed them and all is well. The same applies for Rush and Def Leppard. Have fun.

Thank you so much Michael. We couldn't figure why some would play and some wouldn't. Turned out some had tags and some didn't, so your advice was followed and we now have great music to go with great tables. Thanks again, because we spent hours trying to figure it out and becoming more and more frustrated.

I also found that if you play any of the music by just clicking on the music to listen to it, it will add an mp3 tag to it. So don't click the music to listen to it, let it run through the Visual Pinball program or you will have to keep erasing the mp3 tag each time you play the music without Visual Pinball.
Also i use this FREE editor to change to 128bit. It says WAV to MP3 but also supports MP3 to MP3.

Hmm... still have the music Problem....
I removed the ID3 tags - the MP3s are 128kps and they are located in "Visual Pinball\Music" Folder and still no Music ![]()
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong?
Edit: Files are named correctly...

Hi DCP,
to check the music files, create a new table, go to the script and add a new line 1:
playmusic "filename.mp3"
On game start the music will be played if the sound file is correct. Check all of the sound files this way.
I had issues with bitrate etc. before on my Rugby table:
The example file had a bitrate of 320kbit/s and a sample rate of 37.000 Hz. So I converted the file to 320 kbit/s - 44.100 Hz and to 320 kbit/s - 22.050 Hz. Both files were played as supposed.
The reason for the not working music is the unusual sample rate.
Please try to convert Your music files using VLC or any other program if You encounter any similiar problems. You can check the sample rate using VLC, go to Tools - Media information - Page: Codec.
Regards
Michael

Thanks for the input, Michael!
I created a new table and added the playmusic line, but no music was played.
The MP3s were in 128kbit and 44.100 Hz (no ID3 Tags)
I converted in 128kbit, 320kbit, 22100 Hz, 44.100Hz and even wav and ogg but no music is played?! (I tried that with another MP3 as well)
Am I really too stupid for that?!?
Edit:
I tried the test.mp3 from this thread with no result:
http://www.vpforums....showtopic=31353
The mechanical and rom sounds are played fine, only the MP3s are the problem...
Edit2:
Oh my god..... the problem were the files and my stupitity......
I tried several things and settings and guess what - I left the checkbox "music" unchecked in the audio options..........
Now everything is fine, thanks!

Hi All, I know this is an old post, but I'll tack on the end because it helped me get my vpx AcDc music running in May 2022.
Downloading the music files and putting them in the "vPinball , VisualPinball , Music" folder is the only place for all vpx table music files, not in C:\Program Files (x86). as quoted above.
Just like vpx and d2bs files, the mp3 "flie name" must match the file name in the script of the table exactly or it will error.
Order does not matter as long as they are in the "VisualPinball , Music" folder, No table name or spaces or underscores, nothing...
Hope this helps others, kind regards
p.s. I did not put the backslash in the file path because I'm typing on my cheap $10 keyboard over my cab set up and I cannot get the backslash to work?? minor problem, (gives me a #, and the shift 3 gives me £) most of the other keys behave as they should.
Spend $thousands on a vPin cab and buy a cheap and nasty keyboard... I will not use it much.... sigh!
