I know for a fact that you won't get any sounds from this table if you use a UVP. I have tried it numerous times and it won't work. You can use a static backglass in HP.
I don't mind being called a PINHEAD!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!

Thank you for the info moogster66, man this thing was driving me crazy!
Now to choose between active backglass or samples...
And by the way, thank you so much for your awesome work on all your tables JP. Your are the hardest working man in Virtual Pinball Land.

when I try to play the table, the table and display are tilted 90° to the left
wrong rom? btw which IS the correct rom and why is this not specified ANYWHERE (download screen or this thread) - I just don't get it why I have to ask for the correct rom for almost every table I download

This is the FS (Fullscreen) table made for cabinet setups. You want the 4:3 (Desktop) version......

Anyway to minimize the crackling sound (I have the rom volume set to 20)
vol of 20 is too high for this game. You'll have to lower it to around 14-15. It has to do with the unique sampling rate. You can also try experimenting by setting the vpinmame registry settings for this rom to 32000.

Also feel free to make use of the red box at the top of this page that says Visual Pinball Desktop.
It has a drop down menu that clearly list all tables for VP8 and VP9 as well as the Roms in alphabetical order.

yes, but there are still e.g. more than 10 different roms for LotR
I mean how hard can it be to put the download link for the correct ROM in the first post of the support topic or the download page...
or even easier, in the download itself!!!

Won't happen due to "legal" reasons. Just get them all, they are small and don't count against your d/l. They are simply different versions of the same game,. If you dont want to do that, all you have to do is edit the script to tell it the rom name you have in your folder.

Yes. The Roms can't be included with the table as stated above.
When you first run the table it will tell you the exact name of the Rom it is looking for in the error message that pops up.
Another way that I use all the time is the number of downloads on the Rom.
If you look at Lord of the Ring Roms you will notice that version 10.0 was downloaded 7,573 times.
The other versions are not even close to that amount. Odds are that is the correct one.

I could argue that especially in the case of LotR there are multiple versions of the table done by different people and confusion is guaranteed but whatever
just found out hardware device rendering drastically improves my performance, and immediately played the best LotR game of my life
