I've had this on my table for awhile now, but havn't really played it. Put some time on it yesterday. Who the hell did you guys get this table to look this awesome? I mean seriously, it has to be the best looking table i've played. Everything is angled perfectly, and looks soo good. You guys did a phenomenal job on this one. Kudos to you. If everytable looked this awesome, I might just sell off all my real pins.

It is because the table uses reels. I used to build tables back in the day that used reel overlays for photo realistic looking tables. & Scapino was the master at this. Look up Scapino's tables & you'll see many other tables also perfectly rendered. The problem with reels though has always been that they don't always line up perfectly. Also it is very difficult to create the invisible objects behind the reels & have them line up perfectly with the graphics. Very difficult to perfectly nail this, but things can be a little off & most people wouldn't notice too much. & this is usually the case.
Once
VP9 &
FS tables came around, authors started using reels less & less because needing 2 versions of each table meant the reels would basically need redone from scratch & re-placed on both versions, & it is a PITA enough just to do it on 1. Whereas with angle independent tables (mainly what we see these days) this is much less of an issue & it is MUCH easier to create 2 versions.
So, you don't see more of these because most of the community can't enjoy them. I can never play this table since I'm a desktop user. I'm not much of a
FS fan anyhow, so normally if I do come across one of the few tables made for
FS only, it is somewhat easy to convert. But this table, no way in hell would I even attempt it. Besides I'd need all of Tipito's source files to even attempt it. Just not feasible.
There are other drawbacks as well to using reels (again why you don't see them used very often). If JPSalas only did reel based tables, then he wouldn't have anywhere near the amount of table releases he has now. They are way more time consuming, especially if you render everything from scratch.
So reel tables were basically a way for us to enjoy some eye candy back in the day. When we were all using VP6 or VP7, tables were nowhere near as good as they are today, for many reasons. So when Scapino or somebody would release a reel rendered table, it was a huge deal & everybody was excited for months.
As seen here, reel tables can still look just as pretty as ever, but you actually probably don't want authors doing more of them because there is a good chance there won't be 2 versions, meaning
FS users would be left out, Or in this lone case, desktop users are left out. & since desktop users are the majority of the community & hobby, it just makes it tough to do these. However I'm not opposed to the occasional reel table popping up every now & then, even if it leaves
FS or desktop users in the dark. If the author wants to do it, then by all means go for it.
