If Taarna's movie-announcer says it ... it is true.   :)

Long-ago ... I dated a girl named Tera for a while.

I recently enabled the Pause-Menu in PinballY. It's the solution to 2 issues I was having with the family using the cabinet.

However, it looks like this Heavy Metal table is incompatible with it. First time I tried playing Heavy Metal it got all hung-up and I had to use the mouse to release the loop. After I got PinballY released and back to Selection-Wheel, the Heavy-Metal Backglass was being displayed for all tables. Shutting-down PinballY revealed B2S-Server never ended and had to be forced-closed.

All my other 30 VPX tables start and end just fine.

Basically, back to original "un-clean shutdown" problem again. Luckily table is good as it certainly is a "problem child" of sorts. I'm open for suggestions ... please.

Not sure as i dont have pinball Y
might reach out to mjr and see what he thinks?

for giggles, go flip the table options to run in a totally stock mode, no DMD, no music etc
then try what you are doing, and see if you get different results?

Hello wiesshund. #1, thank you for all the updates you've dropped. Question: The non-classic version seems to be the same size as the table uploaded in Aug 2022. What has been changed in this version uploaded yesterday?

UPDATE:

Nevermind. reading in script. "Reading is FUNdemental" haha. Thanks again.

Table size from 2022 will not change appreciable, though it is different, but scripting does not make for large changes in size
Nor even removal of some unneeded table objects (Unless one is talking like large 3d models etc)

Graphic files and Audio files normally make up the most of a table's bulk

DMD has not changed so if one already has the DMD from before, no need to redownload.

the uploader force me to separate DMD into a separate download, it said it was too big.

Great job!  Thanks for this version wiesshund.  I am still using a 2 screen bartop cab.  Here's the altered image I used for the backglass if anyone wants it.  A few simple tweaks in B2S Designer should get you up and running.

Cheers!

Cool, just curious though.
Did you find the DMD frame that came with the table un-useful?

It came with 2 frames, one for 4.1 DMD and one for those who want to run the DMD at 16.9 (sizes 2 and 3)

as well as style templates

I did like your frame, but the logo appearing twice on the BG was a bit much for me.  (also, wanted to match the chrome of the logo).

Here's one with your frame...

Er, maybe we are not on the same page?

You dont have to edit the backglass

You apply the frame to the DMD itself

Freezy included some nice plain chrome frames with DMD Extensions
Or, you could use that chrome frame you made.

You apply it to the DMD itself though, you do not have to edit the backglass, unless you really want to?

Thanks for the info.  I'm still learning the "protocol" surrounding this stuff.  I had no idea you could add a bezel to Flex.  It's a miracle that I even got the DMD to work. LOL!

Anyway, I needed it done and was able to do it.  So, I thought I'd share. Now I know.

just right click any DMD displayed via Freezys, flexDMD or ROM

pick customize

enter a new name for the style unless you want it global

click save

ok now adjust your new style as you see fit

one of the options is a DMD frame, point to any suitable image you like (make sure DMD area is transparent)

and Presto

Nifty DMD frames

Just wanted to THANK you for the latest Heavy Metal update!  Upgraded to VPX 10.8 last night and this was one of the first tables I installed.
I had the prior version and enjoyed it and the music, but this is really a next level update.
Fantastic!   :otvclap:

 Open table in editor

go down to the flexdmd_init

the line that sets dmd to 256 x 64, change that to be 256 x 78

You may even try 320 x 97 if it isnt too much CPU load

It will better fit your screen and get you a bit more resolution

Thanks wiesshund!  I tried this and the DMD seemed better and no noticeable performance impact.

Have a different question, I like to glowball effect for this game (goes well with the theme)
but my glow intensity is almost too bright, can you tell me how to turn it down just a little?  (I found it in the script, but was hesitant to adjust, as I didn't want to screw up something I didn't understand).
also, the ball reflection on the PF is distorting the look of the ball and can be distracting.  Can that be turned down or off?  I'd like to try and see if it improves the gameplay. (may just be my eyes getting tired from the glow intensity too)

Never the less, love this table even more than the previous version!  Thanks again
(I was too young to see this movie in the theaters, but watched it on Streaming a few months ago after installing the table.  It's a TRIP!  GREAT animation and MUSIC!!)

in editor, check the glowball layer to show

you will see just a huge green rectangle

select ALL of them (just zoom out and drag box around entire playfield)

change the intensity to what feels suitable as it will vary per monitor etc.

try reducing it by half and play a game, and work from there

the script does not change overall intensity of the glow, it just manipulates the global on the ball a little

I didn't even know a new version was available.

I will install and take a look when I get a chance.
