File Name: JP's Lord of the Rings (Stern 2003)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 06 Jun 2017

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2003
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the 2003 Stern table Lord of the Rings.
Special thanks to bassgeige for suggesting and testing the table.
I build the table from scratch, so it is not a conversion of my old VP9 table.

Original 3D models from GLBX. I have adapted them to VPX and adjusted their textures.
The path of the dead figures are simple images since I didn't have any 3D models of them.

This is a lighter table, not only because of its textures & lightning, but also because it is under 14Mb.
This table is simply an alternative table which is lighter on resources for systems with older graphic cards, for ex. laptops, although the Stern rom emulation is quite heavy on the cpu.
It uses the ROM sounds since they have been greatly enhanced by the latest vpinmame.
Most of the images are from the real table, I have only replaced or redrawed a few of them, mostly the apron, the lower plastics and the light inserts and texts.

Enjoy!

I like it very much - however I believe you have a small issue that I expect you want to address. During 'war of the ents' the Gandalf diverter is expected to move so you can score and complete that mode by shooting up that lane. Tried it on both 10.2 and 10.3, doesn't move for me. I belive you had this working on your VP9 release.

Except for this - it is a jewel. Will be played extensively by me :)

One, I am amazed at how great the table looks, and two that you were able to do it in only 13MB!

UPDATE 1.0.1: Fixed the diverter

I was playing with the angles and in the last change I changed both the start and the end to almost the same value, and I did not test it again.

Hey JP thanks so much. This table looks and plays fantastic in VP10 on my cab and I cannot believe its only 14MB in size. Amazing.

OOPS nevermind. I deleted the nvram and all is well. Love the table JP!!!!

I'm not getting any sound with this table. Is there something in the script I need to change? I updated to the 10.3 visual pinball as directed
