File Name: Strikes N' Spares (Gottlieb 1995) FS VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 22 Jun 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
zany
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1995
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

This is Strikes n' Spares by Gottlieb, Full Screen edition.

Zany came up with the idea to build a new version of this pinball machine. He made the golden ramps, the 3D topper and the flasher domes. I did the playfield redraw based on photos of a somewhat stripped playfield, the apron and put it all together.
Again a manual was not availiable, so the VP8 table by destruk/TAB was a great help identifying the correct solenoid, switch and lamp numbers.

Additional Thanks go to Fuzzel for providing the lightmap images for the inserts and JPSalas for the fading flasher code.

Configurable options at the top of the script are
- GI brightness
- Flasher light level
- FreePlay (faked)
- Number of spare balls at the ramps 0-3 (only visual impact)
- Topper "Beer" texture that will show on Strikes and Spares

The table comes with the configuration file code by gtxjoe that creates/reads cController.txt from the User directory. Just change the variable cController to 0 and the table is looking for the configuration file.

I added a static backglass file and a wheel image to the zip file. A B2S will be availiable at the same time as the table.

Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.

Michael

Thanks Michael!

I was having a slow and miserable day at work and this was just what I needed to get through the day! It looks and plays great! Thanks to Zany, Fuzzel, and JP as well!

The table and back glass are loading and credits are loading but can't get it to play. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Looks like an interesting twist on pinball. Thanks

Hi Bob,

try to reset the ROM (F3) and then add some coins (the default setting of the chutes 1 and 2 is 1/2 coin).

Then You can reset the ROM to factory default: "7" to enter the menu, then left flipper until "Game Adjustments", right flipper to select, then "1" to reset

After a reset You might want to set the Tournament question on Gamestart to Off in the ROM menu (Game adjustment 41 should be "Normal", cycle with "7").

Michael

Thanks Zany--looking at the date that this table was out, that would have been the LAST thing I would have expected to do. She's working now.

omg, thats by far the best non pinball game in my cab (or at least that I can remember right now).  Its totally awesome!  Having trouble starting a game and my PinDMD2 seems to flash a lot, I think since the real game had 2 displays.  Anyway to get B2S to work and keep all 4 players score?  Thanks for a great table.  I think we will drink and play this game a lot.

I also had to hit a before starting a game.  Is that normal?

Slydog....move the entire dmd up to the backbox......is the only i can think of.

Hi Slydog,

I had to use the "A" key at the beginning too and that was not an option for my cab. I think the factory defaults saved me (see post above). Now the table is working like a charm.

forgot about the great new options with PinMame and turned off my PinDMD for this game only and use the regular Window which I moved to my backglass.  Thanks (also I think its starting fine, but have to play some more to be sure)

Thx for this table :love39: !   I love it!!!

Maybe some "script-wizard" can add ball-rolling-sound and especially the ball-on-ball-collision-sound ??

Anyway - nice original table!!!! :otvclap:

Michael IS a script wizard.....and there is ball rolling sounds....no ball collision sounds though!
And the table is not an "original"...thats what we call tables never made in real life.....but original in an odd way...yes, it is! :D

...i also think it was the last table Gottlieb made!
