MAME ROMS are now LEGIT to dowload at The Internet Archive.org. They even have a street legal online JSMESS Player on the site so you can play many of the oldest games without anything but a browser, though it does require a modern computer to run well.

The MAME ROM version is 0.151. You can download the entire set as a 42.8 GB. Zip, or click the (contents) link to the right of the 42.8 GB. download link in order to download single game roms by their MAME name.

https://archive.org/...MAME_0.151_ROMs

I love this site as there is No SPAM. No clicking multiple pages. No risk of virus or malware (barring a hack of the site).
It is almost exactly like the old school MAME ROM sites with a simple list of games and near immediate download of the ROM on click.

EXCELLENT!

I read somewhere that the archive received notice from the USPO (US Patent Office) that software that is no longer manufactured or maintained ("abandonware")

is not protected by digital rights. That is consistent to the long standing principle, that Patents and Copyrights exist to protect the rights of the creator to serve The People, but not to neglect the product or deny the product to The People. And particularly when digital media is easy to produce en masse, there is no reason to suppress the access to it by hoarding it.

And then, Bally Midway offered a few of these games online through the Macromedia Shockwave (Flash) website about 14 years ago, so as far as those games are concerned, like VPM, maybe Macromedia bought the rights to those games and sold the rights? I don't know.

I don't think it's completely legit or illegal... it's some sort of legal limbo because of the stupid copyright system in place. The owners of these could probably file suit and maybe get them taken down, but the majority of the games are real-deal "abandonware". Games like Pac-Man are still sold under licenses. I know that Nintendo has gone after a lot of website offering NES roms because they want to sell them in their "classics" marketplace.

Modern copyright law stifles culture and needs a serious revamp.

also some stuff in is a limbo of who owns what rights to what game and some times some games have more then 1 rights owner / the rights are split up now as well.

I'd like to know how to get more roms to work on my Wii.
Currently, the latest mamewii only emulates a handful and i like Mame.

An abandoned project perhaps because the wii is getting older and others went to xbox and PSX's because of the higher memory, but i like my Wii and i have every emulator know to man working on it practically including all the atari's, commodores, vectex, appleII, odessey2,genesis, Snes,Nes, gameboy, neogeo, etc etc.....

:) Anyone like Mame on Wii?

Cheers,

Maceman

can someone propose a good site for Mame and Nes Roms?

Edit: Just found Gamulator on Google, it looks promising.

Example for NES Roms and as Kiwi said: https://www.emuparad..._System_ROMs/13
Since Years, i Always try a search on Google with: "SYSTEMNAME roms", and you will find all the Pages:
NES Roms, SNES Roms, GBA Roms, Model 2 Roms, Playstation ISO, and so on ...

But to stay on Emuparadise, here is the Index Page with Roms/Files for much Emulators:

Emuparadise was removed all roms from their site. Any alternatives?
