File Name: Quicksilver (Stern 1980) FS VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 07 Nov 2014

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 1980
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is Quicksilver by Stern, built in 1980.

I did a redraw of the playfield based on a playfield image Itchigo sent me. I applied the images, Noah had in store on his Photobucket site (thank You Noah for the images - again).
Destruk's VP8 table gave me the correct solenoid and light numbers, as the manual is quite misleading here.
Again I used the light images provided by fuzzel, Kodiac's flipper routine. Thank You for this.
Thanks to StevOz and Itchigo, who sent me corrections before the release, where my table recreation was too far off the real table.

As there is no media pack availiable, I added the backglass image to the download file.

As a new feature, I added the option to change the outlane post position to the configuration section at the top of the script. The table comes with the post set to medium position. Just change the value of "OutlanePostPosition" as described.
As StevOz suggested, I changed the FS view to full apron view. If You prefer a maximized playfield area, the necessary settings are added to the script. Just copy them over to the backdrop options.
Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.
Regards
Michael

Great looking table thanks. I am getting an invalid procedure call or argument error when the table starts. I had a look at the script but could not find anything. The table plays fine after clicking ok to the error.

Cheers

I am using the latest 9.9.1  but i have it sorted i think. I had to comment line  133  vpminit me   and the start error has gone. Don't know why i had to do that when others obviously have not had to but it seems to be fine now.

Cheers

Hi lizard,

I found a post by destruk on a similiar error, pointing toward missing / misplaced vbs files, that are loaded during vpminit. Please check, if You have all the basic and table specific vbs files within Your table folder or in Your scripts folder.

ok i'm back :)

dof config is done now, thank you michael for disabling the mech sounds, as an improvement, not all the sounds are emulated by force feedback, here are the sounds that don't need to be use for soundfx methods:

bump

gate1

gate5

drain

spinners

rest of the table is great ;)

Hi arngrim,

thank You for the sounds that should not be disabled. I was not sure, if You just overlooked them in the previous versions.

I will keep this in mind for the next tables.

Michael

Hi,

Arngrim pointed me toward a not registering switch on Devil's Dare. I found out that I did mix up the arguments for the playsound command, leading to occasional not registering switches if the volume was set to a negative number.
I am now updating all the lates tables, that contain this error.

Regards
Michael

Hi Michael, could I trouble you to post the code changes per table here as well for the switch fixes?

I modify most table releases for my cabinet viewing angle and if possible would prefer to just update the script.

Many thanks in advance.

Dozer.

Hi Dozer,

I used the following line within the Switches section with varying parameter values, putting the panning parameter wrong:

PlaySound "Gate1",0,-0.18,0.1,0.1

The third parameter is the volume and must not be negative. Just insert one parameter before the panning and delete the last one:

PlaySound "Gate1",0,0.1,-0.18,0.1

So You shift the panning to the correct position. Rollover switches should be called with volume 0.1, all other objects can use volume 1.

Regards

Michael
