Hi guys!

I have a Williams wide body lockdown bar which I recently have had forced down over the wooden edge in front.

This have worked pretty well but it destroys my decal work and sits a bit lose for some of the stronger players (read intoxicated ones)

I do not want to drill through it but rather have some from-the-inside fixed solution. I do not have the original locking part, and have not the room for one now as how my contactors and nudge device is mounted.

The lockdownbar looks just like this one

I don't have the lockdown bar receiver either.

 

Just install two pieces of wood (about 1/2" thick) against the front of the cab where the lockdown hooks are located. Drill a hole so you can slide in a nail to secure the lockdown bar . When marking the hole location, push down on the lockdown bar and mark the spot on the lower part of the hook as you see in the 2nd pic.  If you drill the hole near the top of the hook, the lockdown bar will be loose.

with enough of it attactched to a piece of wood or something directly under bar, it should in theory hold it in place pretty good

Noah I agree with you in spirit, and personally use whole real parts like that on my builds. I think at least one even came from you over the last few years.

 

But there is no denying the fact that the price of those receivers is total bullshit. Almost a hundred bucks for a machined piece of metal with a spring, a bolt, and a handle. Don't get me wrong, that's not a jab at you at all; your price is the market average and there's nothing you can do about hard costs.

How much did you spend building your cabinet? And $80 so the part where your hands rest while you use this cabinet isn't loose is too much?

Yes, I guess I could re-arrange in the ol' coffin so I could fit a wide body lockdown lever-thingy,

But I gotta try your easy method gtxjoe. Looks really neat! Just hope its a snug fit! (as I like it... tight  )

Don´t know, if you already fixed the bar,

but I used this clamps you can use for wooden boxes sometimes.

Works very well: included hook will be screwed on the hooks of the lockdownbar,

and the other part with the bracket on the inner side of cabin front. Works perfect.

Brackets have to be opened through coin door.

Cool Klonoa! I also thought of this.

 

Guess I will do it in the future as this is really neat.

In the meantime I have gone with gtxjoe's nailhead trick.

Works pretty good.

Klonoa, this is a fantastic idea, but I can't quite grasp how you mounted this to the cabinet?  Any way you could provide a picture or explain further?  How did you "screw the hooks on the lockbar?"

I had previously saved several how-to and build thread links for reference. Then last year the Photobucket problem occurred & a lot of photos were deleted making the threads less useful.

 

However if you save the thread as "web page complete", then everything including the pictures will get saved on your PC. This does use some storage space but sometimes may be worth it.

Anyone try to secure a lockdown bar that has no "underparts"?  Someday my custom one will actually ship from VirtuaPin (been just over 4 weeks, so hopefully any day now), and I will need to figure something out.  I went with "no underparts" so that I had more options for mounting a SSF exciter under there.  Maybe I could epoxy some hooks or something....

At the expense of reviving an old thread, this looks very interesting, but is that a custom lockdown bar perhaps? Mine has the lockdown brackets sideways, pointing to the flippers so that the receiver catches the brackets to lock. I understand you don't have a receiver here, and I wont either in my new build, but your LDB's latches appear to be different and pointing to the back of the cab.

That's probably one of the Stern lockbars that uses their "luggage latch" attachment system.  Look for part number 500-6882-02-02 or 500-6882-03-00.
