Hi Bob,

I think I'd better wait for the FS version before making any judgement or observations on this table.

There are a few problems I see, but I don't want to be hasty, as I am sure they will disappear in a FS version, like your other tables.

I am a big beatles fan as well...

One thing that I am observing however (in case it can be changed) is the lack of music. If i compare this to the 3 stooges for example, everytime i hit a bumper or something, an mp3 plays of the sounds of curly or moe or something... I love that.

On this table however, I hear music only when the ball launches, and then it seems to turn off for most of the game once i am in play, which must be something wrong- i can't see you making it that way, especially when you just commented that the music makes up for lack of things....

Anyways, i am holding off so i don't sound ungrateful, which of course I am not!!

Maceman

Hi Mace, as I mentioned in the release thread, if you don't get those mp3's put in the right place, the table is a waste. You are probably on hearing the wave file music loops. There are 15 songs that play in rotation, these songs are activated by hitting the center red target, when the ON AIR light and the DOUBLE SCORE light is lit, there will be Beatles songs playing. Read the release post as I tell you exactly where to put the mp3 files.

I wanted music playing most of the time, so I made the Music the most important part of the table. The most important shot is the one to activate DOUBLE SCORING, it's easy to hit this target, then music plays.

If you are a Beatles fan, then try to figure this out. smile.gif You can easily add more song clips, but the file is already 35 megs, so I had to be selective.

@Sleepy, there are no new songs here, there are no weird Beatle songs here, all of these songs would probably be on their Greatest Hits set.

@Freddie, if your ball doesn't vanish near the top flipper, then you don't need the 2011a update, the ball never vanished on my setup.

See, I was right. I knew you wouldn't make the table this way (ie. no music)... Thanx for showing me the problem. I am moving them right now to the proper folder facepalm.gif

Cheers!!

Maceman

ps. You do realize I make these mistakes on purpose for the sake of others right?? smile.gif

Let me know if you get it working.

I try not to use mp3's as we can't import them into the Sound Manager, but on this table, those 15 mp3's are about 500kb each, but they were all 5 meg or higher each when I created them. My sound editor (Audacity) won't import .cda files, so I had to convert them to mp3, import them, edit them, export as a wav file (Audacity editor won't export as an mp3 file) then convert them back to mp3. Probably not the easiest way to do it, but it worked. smile.gif

...it seems to be working now.

So, i tried making a clip of "Cry Baby Cry" as an mp3...changed it in the script as well, but what do you put for music interval for the new songs??

If NewSong=13 Then MusicTimer.Interval=35000: PlayMusic "Beatles_CBC.mp3"

I open the folder with the mp3's in it and move my mouse over the file and the file properties will pop up, I look at the duration of the song, the one above is 35 seconds, 1 second = 1000 timer units, so 35 sec. = 35000

If you want to add that song to the list without replacing a song then just add a new line and move the Song = 0 down. You probably only want about a 35 second long song clip as the game does give Double Score while they are playing.

CODE
If NewSong=13 Then MusicTimer.Interval=30000: PlayMusic "Beatles_BOJAY.mp3"
If NewSong=14 Then MusicTimer.Interval=43000: PlayMusic "Beatles_LAWR.mp3"
If NewSong=15 Then MusicTimer.Interval= (PlaceNewtimeHere): PlayMusic "Beatles_CBC.mp3": NewSong=0
"

Thanx Bob.

I must not be doing something correct, as when it cycles to the song i entered, it is just the sound of silence until i hit the target again and it picks the next one smile.gif
I'll try againlater. I just made a BGand used the DMD place holder from World Cup Soccer, but match the colours to your beatles comic BG. Looks good... would be better with a score there of course smile.gif

How do I rotate the scores in the playfield (which are sideways when youconvert from WS). I tried selecting and rotationg, but i only see a rotate feature for the score box holder, not the score boxes themselves, which i need to rotate -90 i believe.

Thanx... Pretty fun table, although it takes me forever to hit the target enough to test my new song adds smile.gif, wish i could just take the glass off and hit that target manually to cycle through smile.gif

Sometimes an mp3 file just won't play in VP, but it will play on the pc when you double click on it to open or if you open it with whatever player you use. When this happens, I just convert the mp3 file to an mp3 and that fixes whatever the problem was.

To test your mp3 file you could have just put it first in the list, rather than trying to play them all in a game. You could have also added a line of code to play/test your mp3 file with a press of a key. The keycode 10 translates to key 9 in the example below. (Press Key 9 to start song)

Add this line to your Keydown area in the script for testing.

If Keycode=10 Then EndMusic : PlayMusic "Beatles_CBC.mp3"

OK, turning the score reels..... You can't turn the score reels. If you look at my score reels every score digit has it's own reel. There are 6 reels making up the score. You want to resize these reels to 32 width and 24 height. this now makes them the size of a reel if we could turn them. Then you have to replace the image I used for the numbers in the image manager. It's just a picture of numbers, the image the table uses right now are numbers in the vertical position, we will now use an image of numbers in the horizontal position. I'll attach one below and then you can see if you can accomplish this. smile.gif

Add new image to image manager.

Each score reel needs to use this image, so you need to change each reel's properties to use this image.

Mace, if you get the new images working in the reels, then move those scorebox decals off the table, add 3 dark color custom rectangular lights (OFF) to put behind the reels, position the new reels to where you want them, the table would look something like the screenshot below. You can use the Backglass Image I just made to use with the B2S table and you'd have a static backglass.

SuperStardust might be the most awesome game I have ever played! I would have been a champ on it when I was in my 20's, but now my brain will only allow me to play one game, then I have to move on to something else, the tension and the action at higher levels is really extreme. smile.gif

I need to do that today, I haven't logged in since they have been back up, building a VP table gets in the way of my real game time. smile.gif

I'd also be interested in how to convert to this FS or if you could share that
Thanks for any help!

in the vp9 editor backdrop.
rotate 270.
the first scale after rotate will expand the table top and bottom.
next scale will expand the sides equally.
the next scale will move the table left or right.
last scale will move the table up or down.

after the rotate close and save changes.
restart.

now move the decals and scoring display out of the play field.
i moved alot to the aprons.
scoring went into the plunger launch and maybe sometimes the apron.
use the scales to scale down things and maybe rotate.
ex: click and highlight the scoring and decals.
there will be scales in the right side for width and height.

Full Screen with B2S 2nd monitor Working Backglass.... If it looks familiar, I just plugged new images into the Ghostbusters Backglass. I am rather lazy when it comes to doing a lot of this stuff, my three R's of table building: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! smile.gif

Freddie, there's no Robin Hood table on my list.... smile.gif

The score doesn't reset to zero after you start a new game until you score a point. I'm not updating the table to fix that, it would be a waste of bandwidth, but you can fix it yourself. You just need to Display the score after I reset it to zero in the script.

Add the line below to the NewGame sub. To find the NewGame Sub, you could scroll down and look for it or you could go to line 194 and just type it in or you can bring up the script, click Find under EDIT at the top of the script, and then type NewGame into the box and it will find it for you. Pic below for kicks.

DisplayScore

Thanks Rascal for spotting this.

Probably not the easiest way to do it, but it worked. smile.gif

Hi Bob,

You can get the Lame plugin for Audacity to export to mp3, not that hard but i'll need to install it and remember where to put it. There should be a support page at sourceforge to if you get to it quicker....just FYI to avoid all that trouble. What a great program, i used to swear by it until it didn't support my M-Audio Delta 1010LT (which it does now).

I haven't played this particular version yet but i'm assuming it plays like the FS version so i'm going to say great table...that and i have faith in your designs biggrin.gif
