Hello kind people,

Couple years ago i played VP and managed to correctly install the program on my Windows 7 pc.

I had a blast playing Attack From Mars on it and it was superb.

But last year my hardrive crashed, so everything got broke.

The pc repair man put windows 10 on my computer.

Now after a small year i want to install this beauty of a program again but i know it is kinda hard to do.

Also i dont remember anymore wich files i used and what video i watched when trying to install this.

Now i was wondering if anyone was willing to help me wich files i must download in order to correctly install VP.

I know it might be annoying but it would be so great if someone could help me.

I'm clueless at the moment...

Kind regards,

Robinvd

Start with the All-In-One installer found here...http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11573

This will install everything you need, except Tables and ROMs.

You will see 3 downloads..download VPX2setup.zip

There are Desktop Version Tables and Cabinet Version Tables. Desktop tables are played on your computer while Full Screen tables are rotated 90 degrees and played in cabinet. If you have a cabinet, there are also Backglasses you can download and have run on second monitor.

There are different version tables that need to be run with the right EXE.

You run VP8 tables from the VP8.exe.

VP9 with VP9.exe

VPX with VPX.exe

also there is physics Mod5 tables that need to be ran with PM5.exe

VP8 tables are the oldest, and are only in DT versions.

VP9 is newer and has DT and FS versions.

VPX is the newest and has DT and FS built into one. (You will need good graphics card)

Find tables here..

VP8 DT...http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=12

VP9 DT..http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=11

VP9 FS...http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=41

VPX DT and FS .....http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=50

Find ROMs here(Place zip file in rom folder where VP is installed.)...http://www.vpforums....loads&showcat=9

dB2S Backglasses here..http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=42

This should get you well on your way to playing Pinball again!!

Have fun and if you need help with anything, just ask here in forums. There are many people here who will try to help you accomplish your mission.

xenonph Thanks for replying!

I managed to open up a table from afm.

Now i need the backglass or something, i think those backglasses are the score animation screens right? and it says i need a rom, is that for the sounds of the table etc?

Try'd some files of them, but none of them worked so maybe you know wich i need to put in the "tables" folder.

Also, when i download a rom, do i need to put the zip file in the "tables" folder aswell?

And do i need to extract them there?

I play on a single monitor if you were wondering =)

Since you play on single monitor, you will want to download DT version tables. You don't need to download Backglasses as those are for Cabinets.

When you download a ROM, do not unzip it. Place it in the rom folder located where visual pinball was installed.

You should be able to start table from any folder, but you can place it in your tables folder.

Hope this helps.

I downloaded the rom and table, but it says it cant utilize the rom.

Plus i cant find the window that shows my score and stuff.

I feel so silly now =(

Edit: re-readed your last comment, but i cant find a rom folder to put the rom in =)

Edit 2: Downloaded the third version table http://www.vpforums....fdd9a34cda5b305

and for the rom i downloaded this version http://www.vpforums....df3a1864131c601

Edit 3:I found the "roms" folder, i can start playing the game.

Only thing is left, how to adjust the volume of the rom itself, i know it is - and = but at max it sounds very low.

The rom folder is located wherever the Visual pinball program was installed.

If you used the All-In-one Installer, It will be located in C:\VisualPinball\roms

If you didn't use the All-In-One Installer, It will probably be located in your Program files. C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball\roms

Usually if a table needs a rom, a link to the rom will be on the tables download page.

 DMD Size and Location
---------------------
1) Right click on DMD and enable Border
2) Click and drag DMD to new location.  Click and drag on edges to resize
3) Right click and hide the border (If the DMD moves back or changes to orig size, try moving it to desired location, shake it a little before hiding the border)

Hey guys, trying to play this version of AFM (see link).

Anyone got any tips and tricks to keep the ball in the playfield?

Cant get any further then second attack wave for saucer.

The ball either falls down to the sides quickly or just goes right through the middle... nudges aint helping either... only table bunches and the ball just stays in place.

Edit: Cause of this i cant enjoy this to play :'(

In vp9 or 8 the nudgeing made the ball actually move to somewhere else.

Open script, Search for nudge and you should find something like
Nudge 90, 2
For lefttiltkey, righttiltkey and centertiltkey

Change the 2 to 20 or 25

The visual nudge can be adjusted in one of the preference menus

In KeyDown section

if KeyCode = LeftTiltKey Then Nudge 90, 4
if KeyCode = RightTiltKey Then Nudge 270, 4
if KeyCode = CenterTiltKey Then Nudge 0, 4

Hey kiwi, Dont know exactly what you mean but is it in the script?

Was looking for it but can't find those 3 lines.

Only see this about nudgeing:

vpmNudge.TiltSwitch = 14
vpmNudge.Sensitivity = 5.35
vpmNudge.TiltObj = Array(LeftBumper, BottomBumper, RightBumper, LeftSlingshot, RightSlingshot)

What are the pro & cons of using either of these to update to VPX 10.3?

VPX installer 10.3.0
http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11573

Visual Pinball X (Standalone EXE) 10.3 10.3
http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11572

When I first installed Visual Pinball I used the all-in-one installer. But when I went from 10.1 to 10.2 I used the second method, downloaded the “VPinballX21_Minimal.zip” file, Unzipped & copied the files to the existing directory which overwrote the old ones.

I’d like to get all the updates that may come with the all-in-one installer, but something tells me it’s going to ask some setup questions. If so, I don’t want to change anything. Is there a way to find out my existing setup settings so I can use these again if asked during setup?

Groni has only used the CenterTiltKey, script line 304,

after this line tries to add the right and left TiltKey

if KeyCode = LeftTiltKey Then Nudge 90, 5
if KeyCode = RightTiltKey Then Nudge 270, 5
