Star Trek

Screenshots
Based on the table by Stern from 2013.

Thanks to Carlos Guizzo for the images of the real Star Trek that I used for reference.
and to Thalamus for testing the table.

Table & graphics redrawn by me.

The playfield is a little more pink than red, just like the pictures from space.

The layout should be as close to the Stern table as I can make.

It includes the prototype vuk which sends the ball up to the ramp.

It uses the latest LE rom, st_162h, which can be downloaded from the Stern site.

I made this table just to see if I could make VPX to play just like in the video series HOW TO PLAY PINBALL by CRAIG PULLEN, as seen here:

What's New in Version 6.0.0 (See full changelog)

  • 6.0.0 Updated September 2025
  • - Moved LUT to User Options (F12)
  • - Added some extra options to the User Options (F12)
  • - Updated physics to my latest rev 4.3.1. mostly bouncier rubbers and harder flippers.
  • - Activated the modulated flashers as default.
  • 5.5.0 Updated 13.12.2024
  • - New playfield mesh to avoid the ball getting stuck on top of the flippers.
  • - Fixed my ball spin control, which were too aggressive, and it killed the ball's acceleration, making the ball too slow, getting stuck on ramps, and also being unable to climb the ramps on many tables.
  • 5.0.1 Updated 06.12.2024
  • - New playfield mesh to stop the ball stuck on top of the flippers.
  • 5.0.0 Updated 12.06.2024
  • - Updated for VPX8 release version (adjusted reflections, lights & flashers, equirectangular ball, flipper animations)
  • - some graphical changes (playfield mesh with holes, incandescent lights)
  • - added a screenshot for scutters file explorer handler
  • 4.3.1 Update 06.02.2024
  • - Fixed the cabinet side diodes that stopped working in 4.3.
  • 4.3 Updated 1.11.2023
  • - Updated physics to my Rev3. Including physics materials, flippers and slingshot shapes.
  • - Updated LUT images, 10 shades and 10 warmer shades.
  • - Updated to my latest set of mechanical sounds.
  • - Fixed a little the flashers.
  • 4.0.0 Updated 21.5.2022
  • - Updated to my VPX7 physics
  • - cleaned up graphics & reduced the size of the table
  • - Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darker the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
  • - Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
  • - and a few small changes here and there.
  • 3.0.0 Released 17.10.2020

Im not sure why some peoples flippers dont work, they worked for me, no changes

The DMD wont initialize if your in desktop mode because table script says

.Hidden = DesktopMode

If you want the DMD to show, then just edit it to hidden = 0

Table ran fine in VPX 10.6.1 with VPM 3.2
And in VPX 10.7.4307 with VPM 3.3.76 SAM build

for the ROM i used
https://f002.backbla...de/STLE0162.bin

and i put it inside st_162h.zip file

Thanks, now work

Thank you

The table crashes every time I get a reply via score, table just quits out of VPX.

EDIT: New SAM, all good.

G

Thanks JP!

same here... reinstalled the game but still loads but doesn't start. Older versions work fine btw......some users seems to be running it ok..... anyone have an idea what the issue might be ?

tried F3 reset and holding the start button while adding games and neither made it work........

Did you ever get it to work? same issue for me.

For those who have problem with the new rom :

Download the .bin file (game code) to Stern official site.

Rename STLE0162.bin to st_162h.bin and add it into a rom file named st_162h.zip. Add the rom into VPinMame folder/roms

YES!!!!   Thank you for this!!!!!

I'm surprised this table doesn't get more credit/props/adulation - it's absolutely fantastic.  The Bigus table is great too... this one is harder and dare I say more accurate - it took me probably 10-15 games to get a decent score :)   It depends on the experience you want - once I realized I had what appears to be more flipper control, I was able to backhand shots and make delicate shots with ease, but man - limp wrist that left-center ramp and there's no sense of humor - its coming right back down the middle!

Seriously - thx for this.  It's a favorite table for me  - on my VERY short list if I ever get a real table.

Question:  Can I colorize this with the st_161 patch?  It appear that in the videos, there is a color DMD, but that could have been one-off wizardry and I'm not smart enough to know the difference :)

Thx again!
