Based on the Stern table from 1980. This table was designed by Harry Williams.
This is another rebuild from scratch
The graphics are almost the same as in my VP9 table, I only changed them a little.
I made a new apron and backdrop, and changed the light inserts. I also fixed a few small details in the plastics and the playfield. They aren't great, but they will do for now.

New in version 4.1.0: And here came redbone to the rescue with enhanced graphics!

What's New in Version 6.0.0 (See full changelog)

  • 6.0.0 Updated September 2025
  • - Moved LUT to User Options (F12)
  • - Added some extra options to the User Options (F12)
  • - Updated physics to my latest rev 4.3.1. mostly bouncier rubbers and harder flippers.
  • 5.5.1 Updated 19.01.2025
  • - Added missing sound on the spinners. Thanks kentayeyen for the info.
  • 5.5.0 Updated 11.12.2024
  • - New playfield mesh to avoid the ball getting stuck on top of the flippers.
  • - Fixed my ball spin control, which were too aggressive, and it killed the ball's acceleration, making the ball too slow, getting stuck on ramps, and also being unable to climb the ramps on many tables.
  • - Updated for VPX8 (adjusted reflections, equirectangular ball, linked flashers to lights, incandescent lights)
  • - Updated physics to my Rev3. Including physics materials, flipper code and slingshot shapes.
  • - Updated LUT images and display system, 10 darker shades and 10 warmer shades.
  • - some graphical changes (playfield mesh with holes, metal wall guides, lights warmer)
  • - added a screenshot for scutters file explorer handler
  • 4.1.1 Updated 15.02.2023
  • - Removed desktop objects in cabinet view (FS)
  • 4.1.0 Updated 14.02.2023
  • - New graphics enhancements by redbone, this is new playfield, plastics, bumper and spinner textures. Also some extra Gi lights.
  • 4.0.0 Updated 7.9.2022
  • - Updated to my VPX7 physics
  • - cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
  • - Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
  • - Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
  • - Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
  • - Made the light inserts warmer.
  • - New playfield in 4k (ish :))
  • - Added SSF sound commands.
  • 1.0.4 Updated 28.06.2017
  • - fixed the color of the ball
  • 1.0.3 updated 24.06.2017
  • - new plastic images, thanks to bord
  • 1.0.2 updated 21.06.2017
  • - fixed B & G top left lights
  • 1.0.1 updated 21.06.2017
  • - the top kicker was visible
  • - lowered the flipper return strength so they work more like the real table.
  • - Added the rules to the table info
  • 1.0.0 release 20.06.2017

I really like this table. But I have an annoying background noise beating away all the time when I play. I'm sure that's not supposed to be there. Did the real table do that?

yeah, watch this video...

Thanks for the link there drbranko  :)   I suppose I shpuld have known better that a great JPSalas table would have anything obviously wrong with it.  That video is great... really explains a lot.  Gonna watch many more of that channel now.

Even a previous owner didn't like the back ground beating. I suppose the next question is can those sounds be blanked off from the rom? That's beyond my remit I'm afraid. Might not be possible at all. Love the table but that background drum noise does get on my tits  <^.^>

I have an update on this. Being new to VP this year I only just discovered about pressing F6 when the table has loaded to get ROM options. Lo and behold in those options is one to turn the annoying background noise off. But it was already switched to off. Hmmm... so I switched it "on" and the noise disappeared. Looks like that switched is wired back to front.  :P  No matter... at least i sorted my one issue with the table. Love it  :)
