What's New in Version 2.1 (See full changelog)

  • Experimental (!) version to replace the 2.0 version. The idea was to show the ambivalence of the Genie better than it was done with the 2.0 version. Otherwise 1.9 or 1.95 are still more clean than 2.0 was.

  • 3rd screen usage like in version 1.95 included. I encourage all three screen users to follow Sax and Natetaco as an example for problem-solving expertise.

  • Sax showed me a working solution without the original idea to lit the third screen. If I did now everything he described alright, version 1.95 should not work as intended in 1.9 but at least does solve the problem with the dmd for users who prefer it. Players who like to lit the third screen should therefore continue to use the 1.9 dB2S.

  • Same as 1.90 but uses a different method to try to solve the third screen dmd overlay problem. If that works version 1.90, 1.91 are obsolet and I will also try to modify version 2.0 to restore the deleted grill lightning. Your feedback is very much appreciated!

  • You can not solve the hidden dmd with for example: Set for the normal grill usage in the 1.9 version the b2s dmd as hidden in the b2s backglass server.

Is anyone having trouble with v1.9 on a full 3 screen cab (FS) now?  BG seems to have a delayed start, then flashes a few times and locks up.  Tired v1.2 and the other default and they also delay start, but seems to keep flashing/working.  I'm wondering if something with the latest 10.2 VP install loaded up a new version of B2S.Server or?  Tried all 3 versions and they all fail to allow me to right click on the BG and get the settings screen up to hide the grille, just has the mouse spinning like it's busy when on that display.  None of my other BG's are giving me problems...

I can not see that behaviour. After I right click on the backglass the option screen is up and ready. Try to load the table from vp and try to start the game. Wait until the backglass plays about ten seconds. Use again the right mouse button. If that fails try to wait longer or alt tab to see if that helps. The option screen will load up, depending on the system speed it may take longer but there is no way it will not show. Just try it and I am sure you will see it.

I can not see that behaviour. 

 

I just installed the 10.2 VPX Install and trying to run this table from VP 9.93 direct and it fails on two freshly loaded pc's.  Wondering if some new update is killing this BG cause don't work on 2 PC's with the same latest updates.  No other BG is giving me problems, seems to fail on both my FS (3 screen) and Desktop setups.  Thanks...

I did a fresh install before a few days. (http://www.vpforums....topic=35974&hl=)

 

From what I read it could be that you mix up the different vp versions. I use vp9.93 for non vpx tables. (For example http://www.vpforums....ads&showcat=41)

 

The latest vpx version which you can install as latest version is 10.21: (http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11572) Do not forget to install every other new file that is needed from the essential visual pinball files: http://www.vpforums....um=&filter_key=

 

VPX Tables are to use from this visual pinball x section only: (http://www.vpforums....oads&showcat=50)

 

I am 100% sure that the problem is solvable. After you checked everything and you have vpx with a vpx table at the start please try it again. Start the table and wait about ten seconds until the backglass gets less busy.

Try to reach the backglass with your right mouse click and wait a bit. You can also move the mouse cursor and the option screen should appear out of the backglass.

Just re-downloaded the VP9 FS Classic version of the Table (TOTAN_VP91x_3.4FS_Classic) again and the BG file (Tales of the Arabian Nights (Williams 1996) 1.9.directb2s), same issue on startup:  a Long delay for BG to pop up, when it does it flashes a few times and seems to freeze, can not select options on it to hide the grille and lighting on it is locked up.

 

I ran it from the latest VP9.93 directly, the B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe version says 1.0.

 

I have the same issue on two pc's with the latest v10.2 Setup Installation and have no other issues with any other BG, any other ideas???  Are you guy using the Enhanced, Classic or Original Table version?  Not sure if I have a .vpt or directb2s problem...

 

Update - I did try the Enhanced and Original Tables and worked a little better, will test in my main cab tonight.  May just be an issue with the Classic version of the table, I tried it cause the majority of users downloaded it.

I have the following Tables in usage: TOTAN_1.2.0 (http://www.vpforums....0#commentsStart), TOTAN_1.1.1.b shiny mod (http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11674), TOTAN_VP91x_3.4FS_Classic_FOM_SUNKEN_RELEASE_GI (http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=9415), Tales of the Arabian Nights_NM_LoadedWeapon (http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10056).

 

None of them had a problem to display the dB2S setup mode screen. To make sure I tried both variants, to hit the mouse button with or without a started game. I use on all tables the latest 1.9 (final) dB2S version. The load from the backglass is not high, which was confirmed from players in the forum. You can see less action by starting a game and after about ten seconds there is even less work for the PC to do before the game is started with the launched silverball. I did not test the previous 1.2 dB2S version because I only let it stand for players whom may prefer to use it and for the reference in the case of need.

I do not know jimmay how your progress is, it also can be that the setup menu screen is hidden behind a big sized dmd.

Kind of gave up...  One table that just won't work for me, all others are fine.  I see most of your versions are VPX, I'm on VP9.  Tried the 3.4FS_Classic_FOM_SUNKEN version you listed, BG comes up after about a minute on my single screen pc, but not on my full 3 screen cab, but entire pc runs slow during this process.  All the BG's when running have a Form1 file running when alt-tabbing, this table has the same plus and extra dmdform and a Tales of the Arabian Nights 1.4 running that appear to do nothing.  I'm dead in the water till someone else gets the problem or or it can be duplicated.  All I did was reload VP fresh with the 10.2 setup, all is perfect except this tables BG???
