Waterworld Gottlieb FS
This is Waterworld by Gottlieb, FS edition.
Noah Fentz created a very good playfield redraw/rework based on photos he had gathered. This was a very good starting point and the table teased me for months, waiting to be tackled.
After the last easy 80'ies tables I thought it was time to come back to real work and I started this beauty. As usual with Gottlieb tables, sources have been thin. Akiles and Noah provided photos of the playfield and as my first draft version was ready, Edizzle joined in and contributed images of plastics, I did not have before (to be honest: there is still on plastic, I have no clue, where it is fitting to), so I had to redraw only a little by myself.
TAB and Destruk helped a lot with their VP8 table, giving me the correct solenoid numbers (imagine: Gottlieb shifted the numbers mentioned in the manual by one on the real table, so Sol1 is Sol2 and so on - weird!) and the correct Tilt switch number (I could have lived without one, though).
Thanks go again to Fuzzel for providing the lightmap images for the inserts, Kodiac for the flipper primitive routine and to JPSalas for the fading Flasher code.
Next to the usual dim option for GI and Flashers, there are additional settings, I found suitable for this table:
- As I was not able (capable) of setting FreePlay within the ROM settings, I added this option to the Global Settings.
- Of the two gameplay videos, I watched, one had a wall next to the Berserker to prevent the ball hitting the bumper from this side and the other had it not. So I decided to implement it as a configurable option (default is "Wall Up").
- The Outlane Posts can be set into "normal" or "safe" position, depending on how adventurous You feel.
I included two static Backglass images within the download file although I will upload a B2S Backglass too shortly after the tables.
If You encounter any ROM related problems, for instance the ROM not recognizing any coins, please reset the ROM (F3) and reset it to factory settings:
- press "7"
- press LeftFlipper to step
- press LeftFlipper until "Game Adjustments" is highlighted
- press RightFlipper to select
- press Credit ("1") to to select "Factory Reset"
- press Credit ("1") again to confirm (maybe more than once)
The playfield brightness can now be adjusted within the global settings. Teppotee mentioned a possible solution sometime in the past and here it is. You will loose table shadows, though. It is only visible, if the light level is quite high. For that reason, I provided the option to have the normal playfield image active with shadows with DimPlayfield set to 255. In addition, You can assign any of the 3 playfield images (normal, light, dark) to the wall AltPF.
Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.

What's New in Version 1.1 (See full changelog)
- 1.1:
- - added adjustable playfield brightness (thanks to arngrim for the suggestion and teppotee for the idea on how to do it)
- - added additional EB Buyin key handling (standard is now "2")
all is ok, but i cant start the "super ball" (1 continue), i see, you use "frontkey" and i have 57 for space, in VPMKeys ...
Hi Stat,
I will look into this. I am putting together a list of key names from the vbs files at the moment, that can be used instead of hard key numbers. I will switch the number with the configurable Keyname variable (EB BuyIn) if possible.

Michael
I get an error here
OutlanePostSafe = Controller.Dip(0)
Hi DrEvil,
please redownload. This has been fixed in version 1.0b.

Michael
btw. the Change in Script at the BuyIn Line to ... = [Keycodenumber] dont work ...
Hey guys, any suggestions on why I lost all volume in game? It appears the ROM no longer has any volume when playing. I have the mech sounds from the table but that is it. I read here the Gottlieb roms do not allow adjustment of volume so I am at a loss what to try next. I have deleted the nvram and still no sound. Any suggestions?
Hey guys, I figured it out. I had to go into the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER-> Software-> Freeware -> Visual Pinmame -> Waterwld -> Sound. Change the value from 0 to 1. Not sure how it changed to "0" but that was the reason I lost all game sounds. Even going into the PinMame menu by clicking on the DMD and "~" would not give me access to the sound adjustment menus since the reg value was "0". It would only give me access to the CPU adjustments. What a PITA! Hopefully this helps someone else who gets this problem in the future.
Hi there,
I am having problems running this game in my cabinet. I cannot seem to add coins. My system is set to use the "5" key. I have messed around with the settings but just can figure out why I cant add credits. Im sure it an easy fix. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
this release is really troublesome. I hope, now all the things are working as intended.
