Aliens Legacy (Ultimate Badass Edition) (V1.12) (DOFLinx-Cabinet Edition)

DOFLinx mod by TerryRed

A video demonstration of this table running on a cabinet using DOFLinx can be seen at:

DOFLinx - "A powerful utility for cabinet owners to make the most of force feedback and lighting." - by DDH69

This Future Pinball table has DOFLinx commands added to it. This will enable support for pinball cabinet force feedback devices such as solenoids (flippers, bumpers, slingshots, drop targets, etc), RGB lighting and flashers, beacon, strobes, blower fan, shaker, FIRE and other buttons lights, and more! This will work with Led-Wiz, Sainsmart USB, PACLED64, and KL25Z.

Requirements / Installation: Regardless of using this table with force feedback (Pinball Cabinet) or without (Desktop), you MUST install the current DOFLinx.vbs script into your ‘Future Pinball\Scripts’ folder. Running the table without DOFLinx.vbs will cause an error. (FF_INIT)

Copy any *.fpl files to your Future "Pinball\Libraries" folder.
Copy the *.fpt and .xml files to your Future "Pinball\Tables" folder

DOFLinx.vbs is included with the DOFLinx install package. This file is not included with this table to avoid version mismatches.

DOFLinx install package download:

The current download of DOFLinx can be found through this post at vpforums:

http://www.vpforums....showtopic=35852

It is recommended to use this table with BAM (Better Arcade Mode), in order to get the most accurate version of physics intended for this table. Copy the *.fpt and *.xml within this archive to your "Future Pinball\Tables" directory.

Cabinet Use:
For cabinet users running DOFLinx: This table will function with the in-game sounds for mechanical devices such as flippers, slingshots, bumpers, etc muted.  Instead, you will only hear your cabinet's feedback devices for those actions. The rest of the game's sounds will play normally as intended by the table author.

Desktop Use:
For desktop users: This table will still function normally without the need for DOFLinx to be running or installed (read "Requirements / Installation"). It will play perfectly with the original in-game mechanical sounds playing through your PC's speakers. Note: Any DMDs or HudOverlays intended for desktop use were moved out of view so that they will not appear on the playfield (this was intended for DOFLinx cabinet use) .

Night Mode:
For cabinet users who want to play at night with their cabinet noise makers turned off, this table can be toggled between Cabinet Use (noisy), and Desktop Use (Night Mode). Please consult the DOFLinx guide (included with the DOFLinx install package) for more information on how to use Night Mode.

Please read Requirements / Installation to setup DOFLinx.

I hope you enjoy the first Future Pinball Aliens Legacy cabinet feedback and lighting experience!

SLAMT1LT gave permission to mod and host this table. - TerryRed

Awesome

Thank you so much
Hopefully SLAMT1LT's will start to add the DOF to his games and make them all four players that would be nice

Omigod what an amazing work you've done on this table! This inspires me to have my own pinball table someday!

SLAM doesn't have a cabinet (or the room for one), so its really hard for him to add DOFLinx support to his tables, and then not be able to test it himself.

Thanks TerryRed. Will try it out tonight. I'm curious to see what you added. SLAM's Aliens Legacy is a cool table.

Let me know if you were able to get the (DOFLinx,v1.1) of the table. I forgot to include the Library (*.fpl) files that SLAM included with his original download. I've now included them with the (DOFLinx,v1.1) version of the table.

Yes. v1.1 is there.

I got something wrong here though. Force feedback is not working. I'm using DOFLinx 3.5. FP_ATTEMPT_LINK=1. Newest vbs script. Table name is recognized and DOFLinx comes alive, but only cycles through colors - rainbow style. I'm running FP by exe, not BAM. But, I can't see how that would matter. I do see all your coding in the script. FF_DOFLinx=1, there as well.

Just checked and Masters of the Universe is working fine with FF.

Any ideas?

Yes.

Most likely suspect is that because this table takes longer to load, that DOFLinx is giving up waiting (timing out) before the table initialises.  DOFLinx has an unadjustable wait time for the FP link of 30 seconds until V4.  In V4 I've made the default 40 seconds and added a parameter for people to adjust as required.

Would you mind running DOFLinx with DEBUG=1 and starting this table then posting the LOG file (perhaps startup another thread in the DOFLInx forum just in case this has a few iterations and we don't therefore clog up this one).  If it is in fact what I describe above then I really do need to get the DOFLinx V4 release out today.  (its pretty well ready to go, I've just been distracted by lots of bright shiny things!)  Vizzini, we should have you up and running within 24 hours with this amazing table mod from TerryRed.

Update: The v4.0 fixed the issue for me.

TerryRed. Excellent job! Very nice work on DOFLinxing the script. I especially like the lighting effects.

Let me know guys how the shaker and gear motor effects seem to work out. I don't have them in my cabinet to test with, so I just used my blower fan as a substitute.

Yah...the loading of the table was fine for me with 3.5, but it may have taken longer on other systems.

Glad it works out for you now.

I haven't noticed my shaker engaging yet. But, I do hear the gear going off on a drop at the top right corner.

I guess I must be doing something very fundamentally wrong as when I load this table in desktop mode and yes, it happens whether I run the bog standard FP.exe or I'm running Physics mod 2.7. I have the DOFLINKS.VBS in both Future Pinball home folder and in a scripts folder off it and am using the Sept 16 version of BAM, but whatever I use to run this table, much of the table graphics are missing when I load the table. I'm running Windows 10 Pro on a Core i7-6700 PC (Z170 chipset) with 16gB of RAM & a Nvidia GTX970 graphics card with 4gB of VRAM running the latest drivers from Nvidia.

When I run the older ZED physics 1.02 version of this table, I get all the table graphics OK but when I get the ball into the left hand ball cup just above the left outlane, I get a "Meditation Error in line 408" and can play no further.

So where am I going wrong?

I really love this table and if anyone can either tell me the script fix for the ZED physics 1.02 mod version or help me get the full graphics on this latest version, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

OK, I've been doing some experimenting and here's what I found:

The missing graphics have been fixed by lowering the graphics detail in FP Preferences. I guess I just could not believe that with a GTX970 and 4gB VRAM I would need to reduce the video settings, but that fixed the problem.

The meditation error in line 408 in the Zed 1.02 version SEEMS to have been fixed by using BAM. I'll keep testing.

OK, I've been playing the non-DOFlinx 1.12 version for 3 hours and so far with no errors at all.

I don't know how the authors feel, but I really would love to see this table go into production as a real table (well, with the profanity toned down perhaps :P) as it is such a brilliant table and I feel deserves to be made into a real table it's just so good.

My sincere thanks to the authors for creating such a work of art that surely had to be a labour of love.

And how did you say I can "Fire" the ball?

I pressed all buttons and joy pushbuttons but nothing happens to start a game??

Already found it...it's the Special 1 button

You can open the FP editor, and click Preferences tab at top of editor, then click Game Keys and Control.

Here you will see exactly what key does and where it is assigned.
