If you don't use a cabinet, please refrain from voting.

Share with us some of your experiences.

Thank you.

I voted NO.

I play on a laptop. But I´m pretty sure that even if I had a second monitor, I would not use it, as I don´t really see how it could enhance my playing experience, but eventually even distract my attention from what really matters, the silver ball! cool.gif

Sorry, I didn´t pay attention to the "in your cabinet" part of the title. blush.gif wacko.gif blink.gif

I got UVP working for the Superman Vs Ali table and it was pretty awesome with the score actually working on the backglass of a second monitor, but it made the game stutter, so I gave it up. Hyperpin is also awesome for FS DMD tables, but my excitement for FS tables also soon diminished as I noticed too many things being out of whack, starting with the bad flipper angle and ending with an oval ball. Even FP in FS or arcade mode was exciting for me for a couple of weeks.

Now I'm back to horizontal tables, playing in a proportionately correct widescreen version of the table and this is currently exciting to me. smile.gif

I'm sure I'll be overly excited if/when VP supports moving reels and textboxes to a second monitor.

[EDIT] I didn't see the "in your Cabinet?" part of the poll, you edited it after I started my post.... Disregard or delete my post if you want.

Yeah, sorry about that.

The poll always said ... "What Percent of CAB USERS Use UVP?", but I figured I better be more specific everywhere else.

I still liked reading your story.

I use UVP backglass in my pin cab setup (still have not put it in the cabinet yet) - I use 3 screen UVP's and rotate about 21 tables, I love the UVP - it gives the feel of a real cab

I use them on most tables, some it causes to much slowdown.

I use them whenever possible. It's kind of a pain setting up (editing the script, editing the .xml files, renaming files, etc) but it's worth it to me. There are a few tables that I won't use UVP with because of framerate issues, but they're extremely rare.

While I don't have a cab per-se, I do have a dedicated two-screen setup on a monitor stand with a widescreen monitor for the playfield, and a 4x3 monitor right above it for the backglass. I use a UVP as long as it doesn't kill the table performance too much. Sometimes I try to make my own UVP with 'static' lights and just normal score displays to improve the performance and this helps, sometimes. Otherwise I switch to a static backglass.

I voted YES, even though I only use UVP on about 20 of my 160 or so VP tables. I only use it for tables that have segmented score displays. Some of the tables get a bit choppy with UVP so I pass on those ones as well.

I voted no, but it's a matter of not even trying it yet.

I get no stutter on any table, even the most demanding (except the notorious BBB Monopoly), so I'll give it a shot.

My cab is currently undergoing sanding, painting, and the finishing touches.

That's a definite 'Yes' .. on all Tables using UVP .. no problems whatsoever .. it adds SO MUCH gameplay you can not imagine!

If you go direction 'FS / Cabinet' you want an 'end-result' as close to the real thing as possible so, my opinion, you can't do any different than using the UltraVPServer
to add ROM controlled Backglass activity to your setup .. wink.gif

Thanks again to Manofwar for providing us the UVP technology!

Cheers,
FD.

Thanks flying dutchman and manofwar.

I voted YES! dblthumb.gif Thanks to manofwar for this must-have addon.

unfortunately uvp causes a little slowdown on some tables, so I use it only on a few tables at the moment.

maybe there is an stutterfree version one day or maybe it will be integrated in vp? this would be so awesome! I think the main reason for stutter are the different programs running at the same time: vp, hp, uvp, flash and so on.

cheers
Chris

I use UVPs on tables with roms, and pinserver on tables without roms. I get some stutter when using certain UVPs with a lot of flashing activity. The stuttering normally happens once when I first play the table, after that it is fine unless I close it in the editor. The stuttering will happen when certain target is hit. A good example is in MB when the ball hits the table at Franks feet, the table will stutter once then stop. I guess that there are lights on the UVP that flash when that target is hit. I have made some of my own UVPs with less flashing, which has helped the stuttering.

I voted YES

However I do find that on some tables its best to just have a static backglass, some times the UVP"Animated" backglass just slows down the table to an unplayable state.

Maybe I will experiment with overclocking my system and upgrade the DMD/Backglass video card this weekend and see how if that helps any. I did find that using Set Affinity II helped with speeding up some tables as it allowed me to give VP dedicated access to 3 of the 4 cores on my cpu

Yes, I'm only trying to use the ones for three screens though. They really eat up the video card processing speed though.

I use UVP for all non DMD tables and it works great, but it does cause ball stutter. I would be so happy if you guys can intergrate it into VP so it would be one less resource running at the same time. I think the previous version of UVP ran better then the last one where you added spiderman support. Something funky must be going on with the code. Please keep up the good work and let us know if intergration into VP is something you guys are working on.

The last I heard was from ManofWar a few months ago, stating that we should see something soon.

I wish there was a way for us to at least know if any progress is being made. I know that ManofWar was having some issues with 2 screens, but maybe if the Dev team was a little bit more transparent, others might be able to help.
