Hi Everyone,

Only because I see a few posts about people wanting a cabinet but maybe they don't have a "wooden" finger for cabinetry or perhaps they just don't have the space available in their tiny 2 bedroom apartment. Here is how I play FS tables on my pinball computer. I know the pictures aren't the greatest but I hope they get the idea across.

Best Regards,
Todd.

and here's how I have my Nanotech motion adapter setup.

Hrm. Wouldn't it be better to put the main monitor a bit lower - kinda like a cab? Good work nontheless, just askin'.

Wow ! It is nice to see creative ideas for playing virtual pinball. I have been also thinking about something new and revolutionary design for virtual pinball. Maybe next one after first minicab.....

That was the 'compromise' between my preferred viewing angle and my girlfriend's preferred viewing angle. (I sneak in and lower it a couple cm each time though just to see if she notices)

Heh, a plastic $2.00 shoe box actually. ;-) That was the only way I could make sure that it worked! I didn't want to wait until I could build an actual cabinet to find out if it worked or not.

perhaps you could get a an old car seat that lays back and then you can view it at the correct angle without complaints from the ladyfriend. smile.gif

Cool! I found that while you're sitting down, the monitor works best at an angle similar to yours. Your head is at the bottom of the table and if you think about it, the view is about the same as if you were standing at a cabinet. I also found that angle has the least amount of glare in it.

I don't want a cabinet, I want to play sitting at my desk. I bought a widescreen monitor last night and I have a setup similar to yours. My camera is charging, so I'll take some pics later.

I too have a similar setup for the time being until I get my cab built. I agree with Bob. Sitting at a desk, this is the way to go.

I had previously talked to KEG in the chatroom and he was telling me that he just turned his monitor to play FS tables and then turned it back to use his pc. This seemed like a lot of work until I was at Sam's club and saw a 23" widescreen monitor and I lifted it up and it was very lightweight. I can turn the monitor without even getting out of my chair, it takes about 5 seconds. I used a small black board that I already had and put 2 hinges on it, so it folds down when the monitor is in its normal position. I screwed it right to my desk, which is older than McD, so I didn't have to worry about ruining it. smile.gif To turn the monitor, I first raise the black board, which has some soft rubber on the back and then just lift and rest the monitor against the board and the back of my cabinet, which also has 3 small soft rubber circles on it to keep from scratching the monitor.

I should have stood more straight on to take the pic, but Flame Reaper looks way better than it does in this pic. smile.gif I just started my vertical experience and have only tried a handful of FP tables and it is truly awesome. I'll work my way up to VP and hopefully I'm saving the best till last. smile.gif

I need to go and dust under my monitors now. smile.gif

I'm glad that a few of you like my setup and have similar setups. I hope to see some pics soon Bob! biggrin.gif P.S. Do you have some of that original artwork for the Dragon table that you could make a backglass? I have converted Mars Attacks for FS (with a copy of the "Green Heads" movie poster for the backglass) and I have converted the Dragon table too, but I couldn't make a suitable backglass from the artwork in the table files.

Best Regards,
Todd.

P.S. great pics of your screens Bob! biggrin.gif And thanks for the link to the Dragon image!

Looks great Bob.
I knew it would just be a matter of time before you caved and got a widescreen to go along with your new video card.
One thing I notice though in your pics is that you might have to turn your monitor the other way if you plan to use the FS version of VP tables.
Simple thing to fix in FP too. so they will all play at the same angle.

I agree with KEG, the rotation degrees you will find that works best for FS is 270 in both FP and in VP.

Todd.

Yes, it seems a lot better..... Thanks for the tip.

I only turned it 90 degrees because it kept the wires closer to the center of my cabinet.

I guess I should read (instead of look at the pictures) some of those cabinet threads. smile.gif

I updated my setup. I moved my 4x3 monitor to the top shelf. smile.gif I just reach up and turn the playfield monitor back after I play FS for awhile. I still play mostly WS as I work on tables as much as play them, but FS is cool when the backbox actually keeps score on nonVPM tables. The desk has a small black board on hinges that I added to it and I raise it up to hold the front of playfield monitor up and the back just rests against cabinet shelf.

Picture on the left was without the camera Flash turned on.

I did the exact same thing before I got my cabinet.
