Hi All;

I had several issues with the new PC I built for my Virtual Pinball Cabinet. I decided to try "upgrading" the OS from Win 11 to Win10.  Switching to Win 10 did fix those issues, but now whenever I try to launch a table such as Star Wars DSA - Galactic Edition the table will not load. At the "Compiling Script.." step it just hangs. I've waited over 30 minutes, and nothing. I had to reboot. Other tables, such as Blue vs Pink work great.

I installed everything using the latest AIO Installer.

I used WinMerge to compare my new FP/BAM installation to the old installation, and there are not any missing files.

Any ideas on what I might have messed-up?

Thanks for your help!

I can say that Star Wars DSA requires many more resources than Blue vs Pink.  If it is a resource problem, you can try working through Steps 6, 9, and 12 of my guide linked below:

GeorgeH;

Thank you.

I'll take a look, but I don't think it's a resource issue. The same PC was playing these tables before I wiped the SSD and reinstalled everything.

While I installed the OS an Software from scratch, I made a back-up before wiping the SSD, so I could easily copy over the tables, libraries and scripts.

Install the latest FP and BAM Essentials AIO package. Follow it's included Install Guide, as you may have missing OS components. Also, you want to be sure FP and BAM are still patched for 4 GB of ram access, which this package has already done for you.

Make sure the zip file is not blocked before extracting.

TerryRed;

It is a fresh install from the latest AIO package.

I've traced the issue to my script changes to launch DMDExt on the same screen as the backglass. I don't have any more time at the moment to go deeper, but I suspect it hanging when I try to create the DXDExt Com Object.

Be sure none of the apps in use are set to Run as Administrator, and be sure Windows or Defender isn't blocking any files or folders.

TerryRed;

I'm embarrassed to say that going though and "unblocking" every file (even .xml, and .png files) under the Future Pinball directory fixed the issue.

I've been playing with Future Pinball, VPX and ect. for 5 years and have never before had to unblock any files, as I'm always careful to use 7-Zip when extracting everything. I'm not sure how I went wrong this time.

After manually unblocking most of the files, I got annoyed and found this PowerShell script to unblock all the files in a folder (including subfolders:

    Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Path\To\Your\Folder" -Recurse | Unblock-File

Thank you for your help!

I'm sorry to have taken your time.

7-zip isn't guaranteed to unblock zip file like it used to. So its always best to double check each zip file to see if it's blocked before extracting it, just in case.

I think I'll be running that PowerShell Script on all the Future Pinball, VPX, and etc. folders whenever I do a new install...
