I am using Windows 10 and have installed a few Future Pinball tables. After I open the table I click 5 for coins and 1 to play but nothing starts. I seem to be missing something to make this work.  I can run Future Pinball in Linux but not in Windows 10.

This message appears on some of the tables:

Select Balls Per Game

Use right flipper key to toggle and select

Use special 2 key to save and exit

Thank you

>>I can run Future Pinball in Linux but not in Windows 10..

What's the sense of this statement ? FP runs fine in Win10. I highly recommend to install the whole batch using baller-installer.

A global statement "..have installed a few tables.." isn't sufficient to give a hint.

Which tables are not running?

would suggest to take a look at my documenation, where the FP-part is described in detail.

The message that appears seems to be something the table developer added.  It is not a standard message on FP.  I suggest you carefully read the entire posting where you downloaded the table and any instruction files the table developer provides in the download.  That is the best advice I can provide without knowing the names of the table you can't play.

If you don't know what Special 2 is, you can determine the key you need to press for it in the FP editor.  Click on "Preferences" and then "Game Keys and Controls".

Maybe the name (and author) of the tables creating troubles could help us to find a solution.

Thanks guys

I did not know about the baller-installer. Downloaded and ran and now the tables will run.  I was using:

Future Pinball
(Version 1.9.1.20101231, 24.0meg)

Download: Future Pinball v1.9.1.20101231

Under Vista/Windows 7 be sure to run Future Pinball as administrator.

If you are new to Future Pinball be sure to Download
Sci-Fi Classic (below) and check out the Tables section on this site and the Support Forum for other user designed tables.

One thing that I am working on is getting the different views with F1-F8.  I can only get the table view that opens and a very low view of the table.  Can you point me in the right direction regarding table views.

Thank You

The baller installer tends to be for people that have pinball cabinets.  I don't know how well it works on a desktop.  You didn't say that you installed BAM previously.  Most of the FP tables that are posted these days require that you have BAM installed.  The baller installer does install BAM so that may be what fixed it for you.

To change views, you just press the F1 to F8 keys on your keyboard while you play the game.  It is a little less convenient but the views can also be set in the FP editor by opening the "Preferences" pull down menu and click on "Video and Rendering Options".  Then select one of the "Default Camera" views.  Most people use the "Full Table 2" view or F2 on your keyboard.

It looks like you need to follow my guide to learn more about FP.  Changing views is covered.  Most people will grow tired of answering questions that are extremely elementary.  My guide is linked in my signature line below.

I installed baller installer on a laptop.  I wish I had known about BAM, smaller install.  The tables that I had all work now.  I have not used Microshaft Winblows in years and did not know of these changes to the program.

Thanks for the help

The baller installer is excellent for desktops, as in going forward it has a built-in updater so that you are always up-to-date. However, it also means you cannot update manually, so I'm told

No, its no problem to update manually.

If a local file is newer than the one on the nailbuster server, a corresponding red warning appears in the update list during the update check. And if you don't want certain files updated at all, you can add them to an exclusion list.

I can only recommend reading my documentation for questions like these. (Chapter 14)

I have never tried baller installer.  It would be nice to have everything updated automatically.  I have not updated VP in years.

I noticed it installs "Visual Pinball X(VPX) 10.8.0 Release Candidate 5 Build # 2028 (x64 GL/DX) & v10.7.4".

Does it play tables that require earlier versions of Visual Pinball like VP8 and VP9

Hm, I am realizing, some people don't like reading..

Baller installer includes VP8 and VP9, in several versions. You can add missing versions yourself, of cause
