I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. I get very nervous when I update anything. So I found a guy on YouTube that showed me how to update my VPinball files... and now it doesn't works. 

 

The error message I get is: "VPinball64.exe - Application Error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)."

 

Clicking a table file directly leads to this, as does using my frontend (PinballY). 

 

I can play tables on an old 32-bit VPinball app, but no DOF, and I like my solenoids. 

 

Does anyone know what I can do? Thank you in advance!

Try reinstalling DirectX9.

Maybe that error often means a missing or corrupted system file, try reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributables and make sure your GPU drivers are up to date sir.

sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

 

post back results of running those

PS you may also be missing runtime libraries beyond directX 9.0c

Wiesshund, the Scannow found corrupt files and repaired them. Do you want me to post the log? It's enormous.

 

The CheckHealth saw no component store corruption detected, and the ScanHealth and RestoreHealth completed with no corruption detected.

 

I then ran Scannow again and it said Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
