I want to add a play counter to my cab as my cab is coin operated. I'm not sure how to trigger the counter via my Ipac, without blowing the Ipac.

I have a 12v source I can use and a 5 pin 12v relay I can use. The counter is 12v. I think I may also have an old 1st gen LED Wiz board laying around (never used). My power source is a 110v to 12v brick that you'd see attached to a tv. It's like 3 or 4 amps, and it only powers the button and coin door lights.

How can I hook this up without blowing anything?

I would say that it can work, to connect the IPac you need 2 of these modules or 1 with 2 channels.

The 12 volt power supply is also good for triggering the input of the modules, you have to set the level to high.

The positive of the 12 volts must be connected to the button/switch of the coins, and the return of the button must be connected to the 2 inputs (IN) of the modules.

An output of a module (COM and NO) must be connected to the IPac, as if it were the switch for the coins.

The output of the other module (COM and NO) must connect the 12 volt power supply to the game counter.

Obviously the modules must also be powered with 12 volts (DC+ DC-).

Thanks Kiwi. I want to use the signal of putting a coin in to trigger the counter, while also adding credit in VP. Something like the picture below.

This is the only thing I want to use one of these modules for. I don't have LED strip lights or anything. My coin door/ button lights are powered from an external 12v p/s with a switch. My audio is an old car stereo (the output from the computer is aux in on the stereo), which gives me a volume control on the front of my cab.

As some machines are one quarter and some 2
Would it not make more sense to use the start button, which normally equates to 1 game being started (a play)?

You can get a double pole switch for your start button, one pole for the controller, the other pole for the plays counter?

Side benefit of both systems having no electrical contact in common too, aside from maybe power.

Just an idea.

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

The start button can also have other functions, such as programming options, inserting initials, then you should also consider the Extraball button.

To count games this makes sense for tables that require only one coin, otherwise it is a simple coin counter.

I want to try to make an electrical diagram with what I explained above.

As per the drawing I attached, the jumper should be set to high (H) when you use a 12v voltage to trigger it.

Thanks Kiwi. I didn't know I had to use 2 of those boards.

I can add coin from either a button on the front of the cab, or switches in the coin door. (I had the button on the front before I decided to make it coin op).

I know some games take more than 1 quarter. I only want to track the quarters going in. (It tells me how much I saved by building the cab). :tongue3:

Oh that is easy, no buttons required.
I just determine that by beers available

I have a question. My coin switches and my Ipac add credit button are connected as the same connection on the Ipac. Can't I use the Ipac as the trigger?

No, the IPac does not have outputs to drive external devices, it only has inputs.

You need to connect your switches and the credit button instead of the "coin switch" that I put in the schematic.

Is this what you mean? This is what I was picturing it as.

If this is correct, why do I need 2 boards?

The buttons must be connected in parallel,

2 modules are needed because they perform different functions,

one module sends power to the game counter,

instead the other simply closes the contact of the IPac of COIN1 to ground.
