My question is posed so that I can decide whether to go to the trouble to download and install FP. Just looking for opinions, not trying to start any trouble. Thanks.

FP isnt exactly hard to install

just get the ravercade BAM/FP all in one installer and done.

No one can tell you which is "better"

may as well ask the best icecream flavor

Those are good too, but Spumoni is really good.

Just to many to list.

My 2 Cents:

The best Future Pinball tables are pretty much equal in quality to the best VPX tables.  You really don't want to miss them.

The average VPX table is better than the average Future Pinball table, because the older FP stuff's physics just wasn't very good.

I have around 400 VPX tables installed and 15 Future Pinball tables, *but* I'd really hate to give up those Future Pinball tables.

Your Mileage May Vary.  If you don't care much about physics, there are lots of fantastic original tables out there among older Future Pinball Tables.

I think this is a pretty important topic...

I like after dinner mints, but can't stomach mint flavouring in ice cream for some reason.

VPX rules the physics side of things
But
Recent work in BAM and table script has much improved FP's ability to portray decent physics

FP rules as far as what is graphically possible in terms of lighting
But
Recent work in VPX directly (VPX 10.8 DIrectX and OpenGL) have made improvements to VPX's lighting.

I am not exactly positive on the animation capabilities as far as those baked into a 3d model, such as TerryRed's infamous dancing guys.

someone else would have to comment on that, i can't make a model let alone animate it.

Mind you i dont think anyone but TerryRed knows how the hell to put dancing guys in tables (Or no one else spends the 300 hours to actually do it)
And Terry only works in FP, so you want to play a TerryRed table, you install FP (and should probably use his instructions on how to do it since he uses PinEvent etc)
Or, you don't and go without.

I have FP tables
A lesser amount, but the ones i have i like very much

TerryRed, VPW tables are visually stunning and they keep pushing past the limits of FP and VPX.
The tables I've seen from VPW I have to give VPX the slight edge as I personally prefer to see tables look and feel as close to the real thing.

Sandwich ice cream two dimmensions for visual pinball users OR terry red´s icecream mountain (3D).

Both...i guess
