Star Wars: Death Star Assault - GALACTIC EDITION

Original Ultimate Pro table by SLAMT1LT

GALACTIC EDITION by TerryRed

Table version: 1.7 (Feb 2024)

A long time ago (2005) on a pinball editor far, far away... this table started its long journey.

First it started as the Sci-Fi Classic example table in 2005. Then SLAMT1LT created his Star Wars mod in 2010, which then evolved over the years to his Ultra version, then his Ultimate version, then finally his Ultimate Pro 1.06 version in 2020. I then updated that table with my Epic Space Battles mod in 2021, and then for PinEvent afterward.

In 2022, I present my massive GALACTIC EDITION update!

This table has been completely updated and modernized to use the newest BAM features to create an amazing real-time visual treat that will blow you away! Almost everything you saw before has been updated to the max (or replaced) and many cool new additions have been added!

Epic Space Battles were just the beginning. This table is so big it requires you to patch FP and BAM to allow them to access 4 GB of ram, just to run it! I highly recommend you watch the "evolution" video below to see many of the new features.

This table has been fully updated with FizX physics for game changing new physics on Future Pinball. FizX uses techniques similar to nFozzy physics on VPX to completely change the physics for the flippers, slings, rubbers, targets, ball behavior and more that allows this table play much more realistically than anyone ever thought was possible on Future Pinball. You will be amazed at the difference!

PinEvent V2

This table is also updated to fully support PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD). It has modern PUP DMD display options that can work with all setups. With it's crisp HD text and dazzling videos, it's sure to wow everyone who sees it.

DISCLAIMER:

This table is a fan-made work of passion, and is NOT intended for commercial usage or to be included in any part of a commercial sale!

====================================================

****** This table is a 4 player game ******

Desktop Static Camera Views

  • during attract mode only, you can press plunger to toggle integrated static desktop camera views
  • if you want to use your own BAM camera settings, or a FP camera view, then you must disable this feature in TABLE OPTIONS in the table script

While in Attract mode, the following options can be changed:

Left Flipper: change lightsaber colour
Right Flipper: BB-8 ball, chrome ball
Plunger button: wire ramp colours (blue / red, chrome / chrome, lightsaber colour / red)
Left Magna (Special 1): change backglass art
Right Magna (Special 2): toggle lightsabers on / off

When the ball is in the plungerlane, the following will launch the ball:

Plunger button, Special 1 / Special 2

During Gameplay, the following will fire the Turbo Laser Cannon (just for fun)

Plunger button, Special 1 / Special 2

Second Stage Flippers
  • this table supports second stage flippers for cabinet players with this setup
  • this needs to be enabled in TABLE OPTIONS in the table script
  • ensure that your Second Flippers are setup in FP Control Settings
  • ensure that your Special 1 and Special 2 keys / buttons are NOT the same keys / buttons as Second Flippers! (they are by default)

BAM Ray Cast Ball Shadows:
  • this table was created to look best with the new BAM Ray Cast Ball shadows
  • this feature is ENABLED on the table script by default
  • this feature requires a fast video card, and will use much more of your GPU
  • if the table doesn’t run smooth, then your PC may not be fast enough to handle this feature (and you should disable it)
To disable this feature, you MUST “first” disable it in TABLE OPTIONS (in the table script)

BAM Menu - Light and Post Processing settings:
  • BAM Lighting and Post Processing settings are set by the table script and will ALWAYS override the user's settings
  • this is required to ensure that all lighting is set correctly at all times
  • on this table, you can make changes to the Ambient and Diffusion Lighting in the table script in TABLE OPTIONS

Physics: FizX v3.3

===================================================================

Game not running smooth? Try the following:
  • run FP in Fullscreen, not Windowed
  • disable RayCast Ball Shadows in TABLE OPTIONS (in table script)
  • disable Reflections options in FP's Video / Rendering settings
  • reduce / disable Antialiasing in FP's Video / Rendering settings
  • disable any SSAO options in BAM plugins menu (disabled by default)

====================================================================

Never thought I would run into this problem. The table file is too big to upload!

So you need to download the table file and PuP-Pack at my Mega link here:

Everything with links is in Terrys guide above and in the zip file. You MUST patch the FPLoader.exe (bam) and futurepinball.exe with the 4gb patch or this table will not load.

my bam was already up-to-date as I updated the other day

Hmmm. Did you copy the FP_PE_SW_DSA_GE folder to the PinUpSystem/PuPVideos folder? I'm sure you right click, properties, UNBLOCK when you first downloaded the zip right?

Yes, I did copy the FP_PE_SW_DSA_GE folder to the PinUpSystem/PuPVideos folder. The download in properties was not blocked

doggone. well all I can suggest is going through step by step and I know its a long read but maybe you missed something. It worked "out of the box" for me in desktop mode. I didnt even have to turn pupstream on as it already defaulted to that. Did you run any of Terrys other PinEvent 2 games before like Sonic?

DOF Config Tool - need to update again.

Everyone who tried to already update their DOF Config Tool files, needs to do so again! For whatever reason the site had the table set to PRIVATE, even though I didn't save it that way.

It appeared fine to me, but wouldn't have shown for anyone else.

It should be fixed now. Just re-generate new configs from the site and it should work now.

Sorry about that.

Be sure FPLoader.exe is set to Windows 8 Compatibility. Re-check it after applying the patch, and be sure Defender or Anti-Virus isn't blocking it after patching it.

The FAQ in the install instructions answers many questions.

Known Issue - Crash after a "Fail" and returning to Attract

There is a known issue / bug that causes the table to crash when returning to Attract mode after either failing Time Attack, or when the Death Star destroys your planet. I mentioned this in the table script, but forgot to add it to the Install Instructions (I'll upload a new version of the instructions with this added).

We don't know what causes it, and apparently SLAM had the same issue long ago (could be a FP or BAM bug).

It only happens randomly (more likely on Time Attack when failing)... but there's nothing I can currently do about it.

As this will be my 1st PinEvent V2 table ever run in my 2 screen cabinet ...... Do I have to create a secondary (PinEvent V2) version of FP/BAM that Disables the Future Pinball Backglass and Arcade Mode ?

No. You always use only one FP install. The settings in the registry is what needs to be changed if using a front-end.

You set that up from your front-end. If using PBX / Y, then it's easier to add a separate PinEvent emulator / system in your front end to launch only PinEvent tables and (using a BAT file) disable the Future Pinball Backglass and Arcade Mode, disable DOFLinx if using that, etc. Then you setup the normal FP emulator / system to run what you need for all other FP tables, as well as re-enable the Future Pinball Backglass and Arcade Mode.

You can do that as well from Popper if using that (no BAT file needed)... or you can disable it per game in Games Manager (using only one FP emulator / system). Popper example can be seen here as well:

https://www.vpforums...showtopic=46535

You only need to disable the FP Backglass and Arcade mode settings if you are using the pup-pack on your Backglass. Otherwise it can be run like any other FP table.

If not using a front-end... then use a BAT file to disable the settings and run FP for PinEvent tables.... and use another BAT file to enable those settings and run FP for all other tables. (or change the settings yourself in FP Video settings)

going to try the table now . Thank you so much TerryRed :db:

Just tested it and table works great .

Updated bam to the latest version

Updated configtool , shaker , solenoids , beacons , undercab lights and addressable leds all working

Patch 4G on future pinball.exe and FPloader.exe done .

Now to the only problem that i have on my system , This table take 2:26min to load in game , thats really long . Longest is loading the models .

Don't know if this is because of the 4gb patch , because it seems all my table are taking longer to load .

That is how long it normally would take on this table. It's because FP is really slow at processing detailed "FP models". For BAM models they process in seconds. Also there are 1000's of textures on this table (mostly from SLAM's videos made up from jpgs added directly to the table), and those take a long while to process... especially if you have Trilinear Filtering enabled.

No problem i can live with this , i changed already to bilinair because it took so long to load . And i have 2:26min , but it seems like its the same on trilinear . I will check later .
