File Name: Lap by Lap (Inder 1986)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 25 May 2022

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1986
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the table by Inder from 1986.

Table and graphics by me.

Thanks to Adrian for the pictures.
Thanks to Destruk & Gaston for the light numbers.
Thanks to inkochnito for the dip switch sub (F6 during play)
Thanks to pedator for the directb2s

This table includes my new LUT selector, which increases the brightness of the Gi lights to compensate as the table gets darker. Use it as always, keep down the LEFT magnasave while you select the level you want with the RIGHT magnasave (usually the CTRL keys)

I have included two sets of bumper caps, which you can select in editor. I have set as default the red/purple ones, since I like those better, but in the table you will find the white ones too, as seen in the pictures. I have not included an easy selector, so you will need to get your hands dirty and use the editor :)

The table is an Inder table, and this means it is a fast table, with very strong bumpers and slingshots. The table is as close as the original as I can make just by watching some videos, but there is a difference, in the real table the ramps send the ball to the opposite flipper, but a slower ball will surely send the ball strait down the drain, so I have adjusted the ramps so the ball always is returned to the flipper. I thought the real behavior was plain evil :) Still it is a very challenging table.

Enjoy
JP

Hello JP Thanks for this table I know that many friends will be happy with it since they played it in their time
To want the B2S car to move, you only have to add 2 lines (bold) to the AdvanceCar subroutine

 Sub AdvanceCar ()
  Controller.B2SSetData CarPos+100, 0
     CarPos = CarPos + 1
     If CarPos> 17 Then CarPos = CarPos - 17 : vpmTimer.PulseSw 61
      Car.SetValue CarPos
  Controller.B2SSetData CarPos+100, 1
 End Sub

Thanks for this, I was just patching the VP9 table and was going to compare scripts and saw this also, with I would have saw you note first.

I'll add it to the script on the next revision :)

UPDATE

1.01 Updated 26.05.2022
- Added B2S command to move the car on the backglass.

This update only add the 2 b2s commands to move the car on the directb2s backglass.
I added an IF statement so it doesn't give you an error if you don't use db2s :)

Excellent work as always JP, thank you!!!  Just have two quick questions:

What is the .dif file used for, and are there any rules available in English?

The DIF file came with the old backglass file from another site. It's not needed.

no problem with the table, just that it was created with vpx 10.7.2 and it makes pinballY frontend hang when the wrong version of vpx message pops up and the table wont load. Had the same problem with 10.7.1 until it was released. Does anyone know when this will be released?

10.7.1 is not "Released" exactly, its an ongoing beta, that has not yet reached an organized testing phase
and it is only at build 10.7.1 revision 173-106581a

There is no 10.7.2 yet

sorry mistake on the numbers its 10.72, here's the message I get:
IMG-20220530-092959820.jpg
for some reason it prevents my frontend from loading the table. The table plays through VP manually. Thank you for the quick reply wiesshund.

Funky message but, assuming you have some flavor of 10.7.1 ?
you could try (AFTER making a backup copy of the table just in case) opening the table in vpx, and clicking file, then save

which should replace the version number embedded in the table, eliminating the popup dialog

Now if you have 10.7.0, you could still try this, and it may be fine.

10.7.1 is located here

I forgot to resave the table with 10.7 :) I was testing the latest revision to see if some bugs were fixed :)

There is nothing in the table that needs anything newer than 10.7, so it is save to save the table with 10.7 to remove the message.
